Raymond D. Brown
Funeral services for Raymond D. Brown, 78, Lake Park, Minn., were held Saturday, February 21, 2004, at Ivers-Landblom Funeral Home Chapel, Fargo. Mr. Brown died Sunday, February 15, 2004 at Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park.
Raymond D. Brown was born July 10, 1925 at Steele, N.D., the son of August Herman and Anna Louise (Manske) Brown. He moved with his family at an early age to Enderlin, where he attended school. After school, he worked on the family farm and also other various jobs in Enderlin. He moved to Fargo in 1955. While in Fargo, Raymond worked at various hotels as a bell captain, most exclusively the Graver Hotel. He also worked at the Fargo Eagles Lodge, Aerie #153 in Fargo until his retirement in 1990. He continued to live in Fargo until moving to Sunnyside Care Center where he has resided the past five years. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fargo.
He is survived by two nephews and several grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Ella Gillund.
Interment will be at Enderlin Cemetery, Enderlin.
Ivers-Landblom Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Martha L. Bailey
Funeral services for Martha L. Bailey, 87, Fargo, were held on Friday, February 27 at Hanson-Runsvold Chapel at Fargo. Mrs. Bailey died Sunday, February 22, 2004 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Martha Louise Bjerke, daughter of Nels and Olea (Rom) Bjerke, was born on October 11, 1916. She grew up in Fort Ransom and Nome. She was confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Nome. She lived in Lucca, Park River and Lisbon before coming to Fargo in 1972.
In 1937, she married John Frandson in Nome. He died in 1940.
On March 10, 1947, she married Julius Bailey in Webster, S.D. He died in 1972.
She is survived by a brother, Leverne Bjerke, Clinton, Mich.; and two sisters, Petra Hanson, Roseau, Minn., and Bernice Marvin, Mesa, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a son, Martin Frandson; two brothers; one sister; and a nephew.
Interment at Springvale Cemetery, Fargo.
Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, was in charge of arrangements.

Jeanette Franklund
Funeral services for Jeanette Franklund, 62, Jamestown, were held on Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jamestown. Mrs. Franklund died, Friday, March 12, 2004 in Jamestown.
Jeanette Franklund, daughter of Clifford and Jennie (Norberg) Carlson was born on May 21, 1941, in Bottineau. She was raised in Washburn and graduated from Washburn High School in 1959.
On July 16, 1960, she married Ray E. Franklund, in First Lutheran Church in Washburn. While her husband managed various elevators, Jeanette was the bookkeeper. They lived in Falkirk, Makoti, and Rolla then in Plummer, Minn. They moved to Lisbon where she was an accountant for Ransom County Implement. In 1995, they moved to Jamestown where she was an accountant for Central Sales, White Drug, and Vining Oil before retiring in May 2003.
She is survived by her husband, Ray E. Franklund, Jamestown; son, Clifton (Carrie) Franklund, Fountain Valley, Calif.; daughter, LaRae (Joel) Nelson, Breckenridge, Minn.; son, Duane (Kathy) Franklund, Jamestown; six grandchildren and one brother, Clayton (Martha) Carlson, Bismarck. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Jennie Carlson.
Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Jamestown.
Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, was in charge of arrangements.
W. F. (Buzz) Taylor
Willis Frederick (Buzz) Taylor, 81, Mesa, Ariz., passed away Friday, February 27, 2004, at Banner Desert Samaritan Hospital in Mesa, surrounded by his family. Willis Frederick Taylor, son of Frederick and Mildred (Raatz) Taylor was born on April 13, 1922, in Verona. He attended Verona High School. In 1940 he enlisted in the United States Navy. Willis spent 34 years as a Field Engineer and Customer Support Manager with Burroughs Corporation, retiring in June 1982.
On October 30, 1948, he married Evelyn M. Niles, in Verona. They made their home in Moorhead later moving to Grand Forks. After retirement, they moved to Mesa, Ariz.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn Taylor; two sons, Jim (Jane), Moorhead; Dan (special friend Patty), Streator, Ill.; one daughter, Judy Miller (Glenn), Flagstaff, Ariz.; a brother, Duane (Jean), Grand Forks; a sister, LuWanna (Bill) Hanson, LaMoure and eight grandchildren.

Irene F. Kavli
Funeral services for Irene F. Kavli, 91, Verona, were held on Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at Mavis Whiting Chapel at Bethany Homes, Fargo. Rev. Phil Larson officiated. Mrs. Kavli died Sunday, March 14, 2004, at Bethany Homes, Fargo.
Irene F. Kavli, daughter of Albert and Ida (Rein) Anderson was born on April 4, 1912, in Litchville. She attended rural school in Litchville, later moved to Scoby, Mont. and married Oscar Foss in September of 1930. The couple lived there for a while and moved to Clarkfield, Minn. and farmed until the fall of 1939 and moved to Verona and continued to farm. Irene owned her own restaurant in Verona for a few years.
Oscar passed away March 14, 1973. Irene lived in LaMoure for a couple years and then married Seymour Kavli in 1976 and moved to Walcott. In 1994, they moved to University Manor, Fargo. They later moved to Bethany Homes in Fargo. Seymor passed away March 14, 2000.
Irene F. Kavli is survived by her children, Adryan Foss, Portland, Ore.; Eunice Hanson, Argusville; Sheridan (Barbara) Foss, Portland, Ore.; Oscar Wayne (Marilynn) Foss, Portland, Ore.; two brothers, Harvey (Iva) Anderson, Verona; Donald Anderson, Portland, Ore., and one sister Shirley (Bob) McVey, Seaside, Ore., nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Irene is preceded in death by her siblings Raymond, LaVerne, Delores, Audryn, her parents Albert and Ida Anderson and husbands Oscar Foss and Seymor Kavli.
Interment at Pilgrim Rest Cemetery, rural Verona.
Fredrikson Funeral Chapel, Kindred was in charge of arrangements.

Deane L. Brakke
Funeral services for Deane L. Brakke, 70, Grafton, N.D., were held on Wednesday, March 17, 2004 at Nordland Lutheran Church, Rutland. Mr. Brakke died Saturday, March 13, 2004 at his home.
Deane L. Brakke, son of David and Adeline (Docken) Brakke was born on April 5, 1933 in Veblen, S.D. He attended school in Havana and Rutland. In 1952 he joined the Armed Services - Army Division - stationed in Granite City, Ill. and serving in England and Germany.
On December 23, 1955, he married Yvonne Cryan in Moorhead, Minn. After receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1958 he worked with his father on the family farm. In 1960 they moved to Forman where he worked for the Farmers Union Oil Co. where he later served as the manager. They moved to Grafton in 1978 where he became a manager for Texgas Corp in Grafton and later worked as a Supervisor at the State Developmental Center in Grafton retiring in 1996. He continued to work part-time with the custodial contract at Harriston Industries of Minto until 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Brakke, Grafton; three daughters, Sandra Stroh, Grafton, Wanda (Dana) Rasmussen, Lisbon, Debra Gehrtz, Ada, Minn.; one son, Daniel Brakke, Grafton; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Darwin (Pearl) Brakke, Havana; sister, Janice (Fred) Christianson, Rutland; sister-in-laws, Marlene (Albert) Backer, Fargo and Joan Brakke, Grand Forks. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Wayne Brakke, grandson, Bobby Jo Stroh, mother-in-law, and Gertrude Cryan.
Interment at Cayuga Community Cemetery.

Earle C. Benson
Funeral services for Earle C. Benson, 73, LaMoure, were held on Saturday, March 20, 2004 at the Church of the Nazarene, LaMoure. Reverend Scott Henry officiated. A second service at Waldheim Lutheran Church, near Kathryn, N.D. was held later on Saturday, March 20, 2004. Mr. Benson died Sunday, March 14, 2004, near Alamogordo, N.M. due to injuries suffered in a traffic accident.
Earle Clayton Benson, son of Carl and Lisa (Anderson) Benson was born on October 17, 1930 at Kathryn, N.D. He was raised on a farm near Nome and attended school at East Edge.
On July 29, 1951, he married Ruby Gunderson, in Lakota, N.D. Earle worked for Schultz and Lindsey Construction, and Armour and Company in West Fargo, before moving his family to LaMoure in 1961. In LaMoure Earle worked for a private trucking business and was engaged in farming. He worked for International Transport for a short time and in 1968 began driving truck for the Melroe Company in Gwinner, retiring in 1994. Since then Earle kept busy doing some relief driving at Melroe, restoring old Bobcats and helping with field work and harvest for his son-in-laws. Earle and Ruby started spending winters in Arizona in 1996. Earle received many safe driving wards during his career including an award for two million miles of accident free driving. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Benson, LaMoure; one son, Erling, Benson, Auburn, Wash.; two daughters, Iris (Bob) Leppert, Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho and Ione (Denny) Pherson, Rutland; one son-in-law, Jeff Long, LaMoure; twelve grandchildren; two brothers, Bob (MayAnn) Benson, Clancy, Mont. and Milo (Joyce) Benson, Nome; and three sisters, Lorraine Forness, Kathryn, Donna (Walt) Kraftz, LaMoure and Judy (Wendell) Kopperud, Valley City. Benson was the uncle of Pete Lee, Lisbon. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Illa Long and one brother-in-law.
Interment at Waldheim Lutheran Cemetery, Kathryn.

Floyd Arthur Perleberg
Funeral services for Floyd “Pink” Perleberg, 67, New Rockford, were held on Friday, March 19, 2004, at First Lutheran Church in New Rockford. Rev. Douglas Larson officiated. Mr. Perleberg died Monday, March 15, 2004, at Carrington Health center, Carrington.
Floyd A. Perleberg, son of Alva and Nancy (Mizener) Perleberg was born on May 10, 1936, in Jamestown. He attended country school in the Buchanan area. As a young man, Floyd worked with his father on the farm, then moved to Big Timber, Mont., where he worked on a ranch. He later moved to the New Rockford area and worked on the Herman Allmaras ranch.
On November 11, 1962, he married Barbara Boyer at Jamestown. They lived in New Rockford until 1970 when they moved to their current farm. He is survived by his wife Barbara; four sons: Brian (Jeanette), Kelly (Kathy), Tim (Amy), all of New Rockford, and Jeff (Teresa) of Ft. Ransom; eleven grandchildren and one sister-in-law, Marlys Perleberg of Pingree. He was preceded in death by one son David, his parents; and one brother John. Pallbearers for the funeral were Donald Perleberg, Duane Duda, David Allmaras, Corey Longnecker, Bill Smith and Josh Perleberg..
Music was provided by organist Doreen Taylor and soloists Bill Perleberg, Teresa Perleberg & Kathy Schuchard.
Interment at Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford.

Agnes O. Lee
Graveside services for Agnes O. Lee, Minneapolis, will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2004 at Gustaf Adolf Lutheran Church, Gwinner. Mrs. Lee died Thursday, February 26, 2004 in Minneapolis.
Agnes O. Dahl, daughter of O.J. and Anna (Stubson) Dahl was born in Christine, N.D. She grew up working in her father’s general store. She graduated from Gwinner High School in 1931, attended Concordia and Valley City Teacher’s College, and taught from 1959 to 1975.
She married Rev. Sylvan E. Lee. She partnered a business with her husband in Milnor and Carrington and a ministry in LaCrosse, Kan. and Sioux Falls, S.D.
She is survived by two daughters, Sylvia (Martin) Sabo and Margaret (Allan) Bostelmann; one son, John (Cynthia) Lee; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; siblings, Borghild Arenstein, Eugene (Lila) Dahl, James (Adeline) Dahl; and brother-in-law Daniel Lee, Gwinner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Sylvan Lee, and siblings, Irene, Joseph, Lenore Eskestrand, Kathryn English and Orlando Dahl.
