U.S., Obituary Collection, 1930-Current

Marvin Richardson

FULLERTON -- Marvin Richardson, 49, of Fullerton died Thursday, May 6, 1999, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Omaha.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fullerton. The Rev. Don Cleary will officiate.

Mr. Richardson donated his body to the Nebraska Anatomical Society.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., with a 7 p.m. Scripture service followed by Knights of Columbus rosary, Sunday at the church.

Palmer Funeral Home of Fullerton is in charge of arrangements.

Susan Bottrell

MINATARE -- Susan Lynn Bottrell, 49, of Minatare, formerly of Grand Island, died Wednesday, May 5, 1999, at her home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Joliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff. The Rev. Scott McPeak will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery at Scottsbluff.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The casket will be closed for the funeral.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mrs. Bottrell was born on March 24, 1950, at Grand Island to Harold Lee and Opal (Brown) Knott. She moved with her family to Scottsbluff at the age of 8 and graduated from Scottsbluff Senior High School in 1968.

She married Ronald Bottrell on Oct. 14, 1974, in Cheyenne, Wyo. She worked in the circulation department of the Scottsbluff Star-Herald from 1984 to 1985. She had worked in patient accounts at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff for the past 13 years and had also worked at Target in Scottsbluff since 1992.

She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Minatare City Council and a former Camp Fire leader.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Kimberly (Mrs. Heath) Donley and Kristina (Mrs. Tom) Johnson, both of Minatare; five grandchildren; her mother, Opal Han of Minatare; and one brother, Dick Knott of Minatare.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Lee Knott; and stepfather, Carl Han.

Dennis Krewson

OMAHA -- Dennis S. Krewson, 47, of Omaha died Thursday, May 6, 1999, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Gibbon. The Rev. Larry Booze will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Center cemetery at Haven's Chapel, north of Kearney.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River.

O'Brien-Straatmann-Apfel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mr. Krewson was born on March 26, 1952, in Red Cloud to Lyle and Nellie (Schamp) Krewson. He graduated from Gibbon High School in 1970 and then taught construction work in Carlsbad, N.M.

He married Jane Jauriqui on July 3, 1978. He worked for Pacesetters in Nebraska and later started his own business in Omaha, where he worked until the time of his death.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Christopher of Lincoln and Steve of Pacific Junction, Iowa; one daughter, Corrina of Omaha; three grandchildren; his mother, of Shelton; one sister, Jeannie Daley of Stamford; and two brothers, Lee of Shelton and Freddie of Thurman, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Ermine Krewson and Terry Scheibel.

Charles Kuncl III

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Charles F. Kuncl III, 66, of Spartanburg, S.C., died Wednesday, May 5, 1999, in Spartanburg, S.C.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Mount Hope cemetery in Scotia. The Rev. Melanie Adams will officiate. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kuncl was born on Jan. 30, 1933, at Omaha to Charles Jr. and Lillian (Young) Kuncl. He grew up and was educated in Omaha. He graduated from the University of Nebraska with a bachelor of science degree in 1955.

He married Marcia Ann Gebhardt on Sept. 3, 1955.

They moved to Sparta, Ill., where he began working for Illinois Power Co. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1955, stationed at Monterey, Calif., and discharged in 1957.

He returned to work for Illinois Power Co. at Clinton, Ill., for a short time; Ottawa, Ill., for two years; and Sparta, Ill., for 10 years before moving to Litchfield, Ill., in 1978. He retired as district manager in 1989. He worked for Illinois Power for 34 years. Mrs. Kuncl died on Aug. 7, 1989.

At Litchfield, Mr. Kuncl was a member of the Rotary Club, the Industrial Planning Commission and the Litchfield Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include one son, David Kuncl of Chicago; a daughter, Patricia Moss of Spartanburg, S.C.; and three grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Patrick Kuncl.

Mildred Lenz

Mildred Viola Lenz, 90, of Tiffany Square Care Center, formerly of Doniphan, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at Tiffany Square.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Doniphan. The Rev. Bill Hunter will officiate. Burial will be in Parkview cemetery in Hastings.

Memorials are suggested to the Doniphan Senior Citizens Center.

Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lenz was born on May 11, 1908, in rural Adams County to Harry and Jesse (Moenck) Bierman. She attended rural Adams County schools and graduated from Hastings High School in 1926. She was a bookkeeper for Brandis Dodge Car Sales in Hastings.

She married Ellis Raymond Lenz on Jan. 1, 1933. They farmed in the Doniphan and Hansen area. He died on March 1, 1980. After his death, she moved into Doniphan in 1980 and into Tiffany Square Care Center in 1992.

She was a member of the Doniphan United Methodist Church, East Doniphan Extension Club for 50 years and several Senior Citizen organizations in the Doniphan area. She was also a Hall County 4-H leader.

Survivors include three daughters, Donna Rae (Mrs. Bill) Duffy of Winner, S.D., Carole E. Riese of Lincoln and Gloria E. (Mrs. Bob) Brown of Doniphan; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, one great-grandson, two brothers and four sisters.

Paul Versaw

Paul E. Versaw, 82, of Grand Island died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Irene Weiss

Irene J. Weiss, 74, of Grand Island died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. George Wheat will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

There will be no visitation. Mrs. Weiss was cremated.

Mrs. Weiss was born on May 23, 1924, at Grand Island to Jacob and Agnes (Haney) Semm. She was educated and grew up in Grand Island.

She married Arnold D. Weiss on Oct. 10, 1948, at Minneapolis. The couple lived in Minneapolis. They later returned to the Grand Island and Aurora areas. She worked at the Polly Shoe Store and the Four-Plex Motel.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Kim Weiss and Gary Semm, both of Grand Island; one daughter, Susan Cohn of North Platte; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Semm of Colorado; and one sister, Helen Brittin of Grand Island.

She was preceded in death by two sons, one daughter and two brothers.
