WALTER R. STABBERT, 82, of Middletown died March 20 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Germany, he had been a resident of Middletown since 1954. Mr. Stabbert was a construction supervisor at Washington Construction, Princeton, for 45 years, retiring in 1992. He was also the former owner of the Knickerbocker Hotel, Keansburg. He was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church, Middletown, and a member of the German Society of Long Branch. Mr. Stabbert was predeceased by his wife, Hildegard Stabbert, in 1993. He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Gerd and Marie Stabbert of Middletown, and Richard Stabbert of Red Bank; his daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Clifford Karpo of Middletown; two brothers, Siegfried Stabbert of Albany, N.Y., and Hans Stabbert of Cologne, Germany; five grandchildren; and his stepson. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.

GRACE E. RHEIN EZELL, 75, of Sayreville died March 11 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. Her husband, Frederick J. Ezell Sr., died in 1994, and a son, Michael David Ezell, died in 1977. Surviving are a son, Frederick J. Ezell Jr. of Cranford; a brother, Gustave Rhein of Middletown; three sisters, Elizabeth A. Milne of Sayreville, Helen C. Ryblewski of the Toms River section of Dover and Edith M. Gomez of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and two grandchildren. Services were under the direction of Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin section of Sayreville.

MARY ELLA MURPHY, 81, of Freehold Township died March 22 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was born in the Applegarth section of Monroe and lived in Marlboro before moving to Freehold, where she lived for most of her life. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. She was Great Pocahontas of the Great Council of New Jersey from 1970 to 1971 and past Pocahontas and Keeper of Records for Setting Sun Council No. 129, Freehold. She was a charter member of the St. Rose of Lima Senior Citizens Club where she was a trip coordinator. She was predeceased by three brothers, Charles, William and Harvey Dubois, Freehold; and a niece, Barbara Martin, Freehold. Surviving are her husband, Clarence T. Murphy; a sister, Agnes Martin, Freehold Township; three nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold, followed by interment in the parish cemetery.

ESTHER KEYNTON SEVRET, 52, of Hazlet died March 30 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Neptune, she resided in South Belmar and Manasquan before moving to Hazlet 33 years ago. Mrs. Sevret was a registered nurse at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. She also was a private duty nurse at We Care, Oakhurst section of Ocean Township; Brentwood Nursing Home, Middletown; and Union Beach Board of Education, for 31 years. She was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. Her interests included bowling, and she was a member of Brunswick League, Hazlet. She was predeceased by her father, Percy Keynton, and her mother, Esther Byrne Keynton. She is survived by her husband, Robert Sevret of Hazlet; two sons, Robert Sevret Jr. of Elizabethtown, Pa., and James Sevret of Hazlet; her daughter, Renee Sevret of Hazlet; three brothers, Martin Keynton and John Keynton, both of Wall Township, and Percy Keynton of Tinton Falls; three sisters, Rosemary Hughes of Neptune City, Ann Mary Lake of Jackson, and Therese Loftus of Bricktown; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held April 2 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered April 3 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. Entombment will take place at Holmdel Mausoleum.

NICOLENA COSTANTINO, 95, of Holmdel died March 30 at Bayshore Health Care Center, Holmdel. Born in Italy, she came to the United States in 1924 and resided in New York, Newark, Westfield and Barnegat prior to moving to Holmdel. Mrs. Costantino was a seamstress for the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, New York City, for 20 years, retiring 33 years ago. She was a communicant of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. She was predeceased by her husband, Franceco Costantino, in 1968. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Marie Costantino of Cape May, and Henry and Jean Costantino of Westfield; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Frank Molinaro of Keyport, Lena and Nicholas Paolello of Hazlet, and Cathy and Mario Giacone of Westfield; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Visitation will be held April 2 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral gathering will take place April 3 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a funeral liturgy at 10:15 a.m. at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Memorial donations may be made to Bayshore Senior Services, 715 N. Beers St., Holmdel 07733.

AKOS "AL" TOMPOS, 63, of Aberdeen died March 20 while vacationing with his wife in Eszter­gom, Hungary. Born in Sopron, Hungary, he was the first in his family to immigrate to the United States in 1957, and resided in Aberdeen. He was the owner and operator of Morgan Display Co., Morganville, retiring in 1999. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Maria Tom­pos of Aberdeen; and his daughter, Alexandra Tompos. A funeral liturgy will be offered in Esztergom.

KATHERINE HELEN FARLEY HORNECKER of Tinton Falls died March 22 at home. Born in Keyport, she resided in Middletown before moving to Tinton Falls. Mrs. Hornecker was a homemaker. She was a 27-year volunteer at the Fort Monmouth Thrift Shop, as well as Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Her memberships included the Fort Monmouth Officers’ Wives Club and Women’s Club, the Middletown Republican Club, Pioneers of America of AT&T, the Keyport Woman’s Club for 48 years, the Keyport Doll Club for 20 years, and the Root and Branch Garden Club of Keyport. She was predeceased by her first husband, James C. Emmons, in 1957; and her second husband, Bernard C. Hornecker Jr., in 1989. Mrs. Hornecker is survived by her daughter, Ruth Fleming of Highlands; her sister, Joyce Weinrich of Florida; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Keyport, Third and Main Streets, Keyport 07735.

RALPH B. STOECKEL, 41, of Hazlet died March 24 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Newark, he resided in the Leonardo section of Middletown before moving to Hazlet nine years ago. He was a warehouseman at Shore Point Distributors, Adelphia, for 16 years. He was an avid fan of the Miami Dolphins and the New York Mets. He was predeceased by his fa­ther, Ralph C. Stoeckel. He is survived by his mother, Mary Stoeckel of Hazlet; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Kevin Stoeckel of Hazlet, and Steven and Mary Ann Stoeckel of the West Keansburg section of Hazlet; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Nanette and Pete Smith of Charleston, S.C., and Carol Leonard of Keans­burg; and several nieces and nephews. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

WINIFRED "WINI" R. CULLEN, 77, of the Morganville section of Marlboro, died March 25 at home. Born in Newark, she resided in Hazlet before moving to Morganville four years ago. Mrs. Cullen was a church secretary at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport, for 27 years, retiring in 1991. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, Keyport. Her activities included spending time with her family and enjoying her new home. She was a Roxyette dancer with the USO (United Service Organizations) during World War II, and was also involved with small theater productions. She was predeceased by her husband, William H. Cullen Jr., in 1992. She is survived by her son, William H. Cullen III of Somerset; her daughter, Patricia A. Skillman of Oswego, Ill.; and five grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, followed by interment in the parish cemetery, Keyport.

ARLENE M. OPPIZZI MEGGISON, 62, of Matawan died March 25 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided there before moving to Matawan. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church, Matawan. She was a member of the Matawan historical society and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hook and Ladder Fire Company. She was predeceased by her husband, William J. Meggison, in 1994; and her brother, Frank Oppizzi Jr., in 1997. She is survived by four daughters, Patrice Meggison of Matawan, Kim­berly Bernath and Stephanie Ferrari, both of Ab­erdeen, and Rachel Konazeski of Hightstown; and three grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church, Matawan. Burial was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.
