CHRISTOPHER E. HOBEN, 19, of Union Beach died March 4 in Hazlet. He was employed at Pathmark, Hazlet. He was a communicant of Jesus the Lord Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Mr. Hoben was a member of Local No. 1262 Retail Clerks Union, Clifton. He was a 2001 honor graduate of Keyport High School, and enjoyed his family, music, and the movies, and had aspirations of becoming a director. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Eileen and Fred Hoben. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Laurie Hoben and Joseph J. Kapushy; his paternal grandparents, Mary and George Kapushy, and Carolyn and Pat DeRosa; his great-grandmother, Helen "Gram" Muller; his brother, J.J. Kapushy Jr.; two sisters, Erin DeRosa and Angela Kapushy; and his girlfriend, Jenna Malandra. Interment was at St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport.

DOROTHY D. DIXON OCHES, 79, of Middletown died March 4 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Union, she had been a Middletown resident since 1941. Mrs. Oches was a retired cashier at ShopRite, Middletown. Prior to that, she worked at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, and Bendix Corp., Red Bank. She was a communicant of St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, Middletown, where she was also a former member of the Altar Rosary Society. Her activities included spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Raymond Dixon. Mrs. Oches is survived by her husband of 53 years, Harold Oches of Middletown; three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert J. and Joanne Oches, and Steven A. and Janet Oches, all of Middletown, and Thomas J. and Barbara Oches of Columbia, S.C.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy D. and Bill Miller of Fair Haven, and Kathy A. and Mike Roberts of Middletown; her sister-in-law, Nancy Dixon Williams of Monroe, N.C.; and 11 grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, Middletown. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

MacDARA MICHAEL LYDEN of the Belford section of Middletown died March 7 at home. He is survived by his parents, MacDara Francis Lyden and Theresa Ann Moe Lyden. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Entombment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

MARGARET C. PARLEMAN, 61, of the Belford section of Middletown, died March 7 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, following a battle with cancer. Born in Hoboken, she resided in Middletown most of her life. Mrs. Parleman was a communicant of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Atlantic Highlands. She was a member and past regent for Court Fulgens Corona, Catholic Daughters of America, Middletown, and member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Middletown Elks Lodge No. 217. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her father, George Scrivani, two years ago. Mrs. Parleman is survived by her husband of 43 years, Leslie Parleman of Belford; her mother, Catherine Scrivani of the Leonardo section of Middletown; two sons and daughters-in-law, Leslie and Anne Parleman III of Hazlet, and Michael and Kim Parleman of Belford; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and David Wenstein, and Melissa and Matt Sheehan, all of Middletown; her brother and sister-in-law, George and Maureen Scrivani of Fairfield, Conn.; and 10 grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Atlantic Highlands, followed by burial at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Center Avenue, Atlantic Highlands 07716.

ROBERT M. TRAPANI, 57, of Middletown died March 8 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Cambridge, Mass., he resided in Red Bank, Matawan, and Belmont, Mass., prior to moving to Middletown three years ago. He was a manager at Fun City USA, Keansburg, for 18 years. Prior to that, he worked at Western Union International Overseas Communications, New York City. He was an avid golfer, Boston Red Sox fan, and bowler at several local bowling alleys. He was predeceased by his father, Anthony Trapani. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary R. Cummings Trapani of Middletown; his mother, Margaret Trapani of Belmont, Mass.; his brother, James Trapani of Belmont; his sister, Roxanne Falco of Lexington, Mass.; one niece and one nephew. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.

VERA V. BRANSON, 59, of Rockaway Borough died Feb. 23 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. Born in the Belford section of Middletown, she resided in Middletown prior to moving to Rockaway Borough two years ago. She was an active volunteer in various local organizations, and was a fan of the Mets, classic movies and music. She was predeceased by a sister, Loretta Kutyla, and a brother, Donald Branson. She is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Chester H. and Gloria Branson of the Leonardo section of Middletown, and Robert G. and Laurie Branson of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown; her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Les Lockwood of Rockaway; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral gathering will be Feb. 26 at 9:45 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.

MILDRED BEYERS FITTERER, 85, of the Leonardo section of Middletown, died Feb. 24 at Gateway Care Center, Eatontown. Born in Newark, she resided there before moving to Leonardo 40 years ago. Mrs. Fitterer was a retired secretary for Middletown Township Board of Education. Prior to that, she worked at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, and the Newark Housing Authority. She was a communicant of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Atlantic Highlands. She was a volunteer for the New Jersey Blindman’s Association, Leonardo. Mrs. Fitterer was predeceased by her husband, John F. Fitterer; her first husband, Emory A. Beyers; two brothers, William Harding and John J. Harding; and a sister, Jane Walsh. She is survived by two sisters and one brother-in-law, Helen Weber of Ohio, and Ilene and Milton Schanzenback of Virginia; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Joseph Harding of Ringoes, and Fred and Ethel Harding of Leonardo; her sister-in-law, Irma Harding; and 29 nieces and nephews. A funeral gathering will take place Feb. 26 at 8:45 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral liturgy will follow at 9:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Atlantic Highlands. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

MARY G. HARROLD, 77, of Hazlet died Feb. 21 at home. Born in Marion, Va., she resided in Linden prior to moving to Hazlet 45 years ago. She was employed by Lucent Technologies, Holmdel and Hazlet, as well as by the Hazlet Board of Education, for several years, retiring in 1989. She was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. She was an officer of the Raritan High School Booster Club, and a member of the Democratic Club, both of Hazlet. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles J. Harrold in 1991. She is survived by two sons, Michael D. Harrold of Sacramento, Calif., and James L. Harrold of Bridgeton; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Visitation will be Feb. 26 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. A funeral service will be Feb. 27 at noon, followed by entombment at Holmdel Mausoleum.

WILLIAM A. JELLY, 80, of the New Monmouth section of Middletown, died Feb. 24 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Jersey City, he resided in New Monmouth the past 46 years. Mr. Jelly was a construction supervisor at Western Electric, Kearny, for 40 years, retiring in 1980. He served with the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, attaining the rank of sergeant. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179, Middletown, and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Mr. Jelly is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret E. Donohue Jelly; two daughters and one son-in-law, Marilyn and Robert Welsh of Middletown, and Patricia Cartagena of Shrewsbury Township; his son, William Jelly of Middletown; his brother, T. Herbert Jelly of Lake Hopatcong; his sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and George Chase of Manchester; and two granddaughters. Visitation will take place Feb. 26 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral gathering will be held Feb. 27 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a service at 10 a.m. Entombment will be at Holmdel Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Riverview Cancer Research, 1 Riverview Plaza, Red Bank 07701.

STEPHEN E. STROM, 51, of Monmouth Beach died Feb. 10 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided in East Brunswick before moving to Monmouth Beach 10 years ago. He was the owner and operator of Julie’s Painting, Monmouth Beach. He received his bachelor of science degree from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh. He was predeceased by his parents, Edwin M. and Elizabeth A. Morgan Strom Jr. He is survived by two brothers, Brian Strom and Edwin Strom, both of Middletown; and three nieces, Grace, Jessica and Brianne. Interment was at Bay View Cemetery, Leonardo section of Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Eastern Division, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury, 07702; or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 216 Haddon Ave., Westmont, 08108.
