GLEN JAMES WALL, 38, of Rumson perished Sept. 11 as a result of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, New York City. Born in Manhasset, N.Y., he lived in Manhattan and Lynbrook, N.Y., and moved to Rumson with his family two years ago. He worked on Wall Street, N.Y., for 17 years, and worked the last 12 years as a bond broker, partner, and senior vice president for Cantor Fitzgerald, N.Y. He won a full basketball grant to attend Johns Hopkins University, Md., where he was also on the school’s lacrosse team; he graduated in 1984. Glen’s greatest passion was spending time with his family, and he will be remembered as an incredibly loyal, generous and loving man. He was predeceased by his father, Cornelius Wall. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Diane Mead Wall, and Payton Elizabeth, 4, and Avery Louise, 3, all of Rumson; his mother, Jean Wall of Lynbrook, N.Y.; three brothers, Gary and Kevin Wall, both of Lynbrook, N.Y., and Brian Wall of Birmingham, Ala.; two sisters, Diane Ammirati of Flanders, N.Y., and Lynn Baumgarten of Lynbrook, N.Y.; and 19 nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass was offered at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Rumson. Memorial donations may be made to the Payton and Avery Fund, c/o Christopher Kearon, Prudential Securities, 940 Haverford Road, 2nd Floor, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010.

GREGORY JAMES MALONE, 42, of Hoboken died Sept. 11 in the terrorist events at the World Trade Center, New York City. Born in Long Branch, he was raised in Rumson. He was a 1977 graduate of Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School and attended Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa. He was employed with Euro Brokers, N.Y., as a trader. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, joy of life, and wonderful stories. He is survived by his parents, Lawrence and Helen Malone of Rumson; his sister, Jane Malone of Tinton Falls; his brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Janis Malone of Clinton, Conn.; his loving friend, Fiona Fitzgerald of Red Bank; several nephews and nieces; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A memorial Mass was celebrated at Holy Cross Church, Rumson. Memorial donations may be made to the New York City Fire and Police Departments.

HERBERT F. COFFEY, 74, of the New Monmouth section of Middletown died Sept. 6 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Jersey City, he resided in New Monmouth for the past 45 years. He was a director of foreign acquisitions for Merck Pharmaceuticals, Rahway, for 35 years, retiring 11 years ago. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, in Hawaii and the Philippines. His memberships included the Middletown Board of Health for eight years, and a volunteer accountant for the AARP for 10 years. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janet Breitkreitz of New Monmouth; his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Cynthia Coffey of the Lincroft section of Middletown; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Thomas Erbig of Middletown, and Barbara and John Cleary of Lincroft; two sisters, Grace Colino of Lyndhurst, and Rose Marie McCahill of Red Bank; and seven grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, followed by burial at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.

DENIS CLARK HYLAND, 68, of Matawan died Sept. 9 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in New York City, he lived there before moving to Aberdeen in 1963. He was employed in the fields of publishing and music, owned his own music production business, and most recently taught music. He was a communicant of St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel, where he served as a Eucharistic minister, lector, cantor, and minister of care. He served as a journalist in the U.S. Navy from 1955-57. He was predeceased by his first wife, Carol Horan Hyland, in 1991. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Faas of Matawan; three daughters, Anne Marie Sparaco of Wayside, Catherine Zavorskas of Aberdeen, and Mary Elizabeth Koewer of Chester; three sons, Denis Hyland of New York City, James Hyland of Toms River, and Terence Hyland of Howell; his sister, Mary Skahill of Broomall, Pa.; his brother, Kevin Hyland of Newtown; and 14 grandchildren. Visitation will be Sept. 12 from 4-6 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Holmdel Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be held Sept. 13 at 10 a.m. at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, followed by interment at St. Gabriel Cemetery, Marlboro. Memorial donations may be made to the Denis C. Hyland Music Education Fund, 35 Mill Road, Matawan 07747.

GEORGEANNA FLECKNER, 94, of Oceanport died Sept. 8 at home. Born in Englishtown, she lived most of her life in Oceanport. She was a retired manager for New Jersey Bell Telephone. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Shrewsbury Towne Chapter. She was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, William P. Fleckner, in January; and her daughter, Marilyn Clayton, in 1977. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janet M. and Robert Frampton of Oceanport; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Interment was at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.

EVERETT R. "MAT" MATSON, 81, of Oceanport died Sept. 6 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. He was born in Ladysmith, Wis. He was a retired technician for Bendix Aviation, Eatontown. He served as an aircraft mechanic in France and England during World War II. He was an accomplished clarinetist and studied at the Juilliard School, New York City. He was recognized internationally for his work with clarinet mouthpieces, and included principals of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and New York Philharmonic among his clients. He was predeceased by his wife, Billie Matson, in 1993. He is survived by two daughters, Karen Judkis of Oceanport and Gail Feaver of Ocean Township; and five grandchildren. A memorial service was at Red Bank United Methodist Church. Memorial donations may be made to the Red Bank Chamber Music Society Inc., 34 Red Coach Lane, Locust 07760.

WARREN E. "SANDY" HUTCHINSON, 75, of Matawan died Jan. 8 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Matawan, he was a lifelong resident, and a winter resident of Palm Beach, Fla. He was owner and president of Hutchinson Inc., Matawan, since 1948. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served as a Matawan Borough councilman from 1961-65, and was in the Matawan Rotary and several plumbing associations. His hobbies included gardening and tennis. He was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Laird in 1997. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Florence Dougherty Hutchinson of Matawan; his son, Thomas Hutchinson of Freehold; three daughters, Patricia McAllister of Bethesda, Md., Ann D. Hutchinson of Red Bank, and Maureen Strang of Matawan; two sisters, Ann Fort of West Palm Beach; and Priscilla Bezanson of Tucson, Ariz.; and four grandchildren. A funeral service was offered at Old Tennent Presbyterian Church, Tennent.

SYLVIA BELMONTE, 78, of Wall Township, died Dec. 22 in Geraldine Thompson Care Center, Wall Township. She was born in Brooklyn. Surviving is a daughter, Lorna Hood of Tinton Falls; and one granddaughter.

MANUEL MENDEZ, 63, of Middletown died Jan. 13 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Barcelona, Spain, he moved to the United States in 1965 and resided in Middletown the past 30 years. He was the owner and operator of Reich Electric Motor, Newark, since 1969. He was a communicant of, and soccer coach for, St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. He also coached the Monmouth Sting Soccer Club for several years. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Ines L. Martinez Mendez of Middletown; his daughter and son-in-law, Sylvina and James Tucker of Middletown; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert and Kristina Mendez of Little Silver, and Adrian Mendez of Atlantic Highlands; his sister, Mercedes Chinaglia of Marlboro; and two grandchildren.

MARION E. MAZZA, 84, of Manalapan died Dec. 16 at home. Born in Long Branch, she had lived in Orlando, Fla., before moving to Manalapan in 1991. She was a bookkeeper for J.H. Kelley, Red Bank, for 17 years during the 1940s and 1950s. She was predeceased by her first husband, Thomas Pedersen, who died in 1939; and her second husband, William Mazza, in 1990. She is survived by a niece, Shirley Titley, with whom she lived; a stepson, Bud Mazza of Littleton, Colo.; and a stepdaughter, Jean Holmdahl of Herndon, Kan. Funeral arrangements were private.

MARGUERITE HENDRICKSON FOREST, 89, of Tinton Falls died Dec. 8 at home. Born in Jersey City, she lived in Red Bank prior to moving to Tinton Falls in 1947. She was a social worker at Marlboro State Psychiatric Hospital, retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Red Bank United Methodist Church. A graduate of Smith College, Massachusetts, she continued her education following retirement at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown, becoming one of its longest-attending students. A longtime community activist, she canvassed door-to-door in Tinton Falls on several neighborhood issues. She was predeceased by her sister, Janet Inglis, who died in August 2001; and her brother Charles Elvin Hendrickson, who died in 1978. She is survived by two sons, James H. Forest of The Netherlands, and Richard D. Forest of Maplewood; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service was offered at the Red Bank United Methodist Church.
