James F. Zeak
Point Pleasant resident James F. Zeak died Friday, Feb. 17 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.

He was 60 years old.

Born in Paterson, Mr. Zeak lived in the Shore area since 1961.

He was a graduate of Point Pleasant Beach High School.

He was a member of the Teamsters Union, and was employed for 30 years as a truck driver with various companies.

An avid motorcycle rider, Mr. Zeak also liked to play golf and fishing.

Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Ruth Ann; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Ann, Parsippany; one daughter and son-in-law, Thea and Sonny Jandial, Loveland, Ohio; his brother and sister-in-law, David and Cheryl, Brick; one granddaughter, Karli; his brother-in-law, Charles Menut and his wife, Linda, Red Bank; his sister-in-law, Judith Buncher and her husband, Stuart, Tinton Falls; his niece, Eyrn Zeak, of the Bahamas; and his nephew, Cristian Zeak, of Delaware.

Private funeral arrangements were from the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant.

Gail Jensen
Wayne resident Gail Jensen, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Tuesday, Feb. 14 in Lakeview Subacute Care Center, Wayne.

She was 67 years old.

Ms. Jensen was born in Montclair.

She was employed as a sales representative with Herbal Life Inc., as a Realtor, and as a dental assistant, all in Point Pleasant.

She was a cherished mother and loving sister.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Damon and Tammy LaSala; and two brothers, John Steiner and Roger Steiner.

Funeral arrangements were private at the request of the family.

Rose C. Watters
Point Pleasant Beach resident Rose Cordasco Watters died Sunday, Feb. 19 in Deborah Heart and Lung Center, Browns Mills.

She was 79 years old.

Born in Newark, Mrs. Watters lived in Kearny and Montville, and summered in Point Pleasant Beach for 30 years before becoming a permanent resident 15 years ago.

She was employed as an electronic assembler with Hewlett-Packard, Rockaway, before retiring.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edward.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Edward J. and Colleen; one daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and William Lambert; two sisters, Joan Sestak and Vera Bonner; and five grandchildren, Courtney, Christopher, Cathleen, Caroline and Edward.

Private funeral arrangements were from the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Watters’ memory may be made to the Deborah Hospital Foundation, Trenton Rd., Browns Mills, 08015.

Patricia Ann Smith
Manasquan resident Patricia Ann Smith, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Sunday, Feb. 12 in Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York City.

She was 47 years old.

Mrs. Smith grew up in Point Pleasant and later moved to Manasquan, where she lived for 24 years.

She was employed for 17 years as a waitress with Union Landing Restaurant, Brielle. Her early employment years were spent managing many fast-food restaurants.

She was a devoted wife, mother and friend who loved boating, fishing, golf, gardening, sewing and building her doll house, among countless other crafts and hobbies.

She was predeceased by her mother, Geraldine Carrino; and her father, William Baeder III.

Surviving are her husband of 26 years, Jeffrey G. Smith; her daughter, Heather Patrice Smith; two brothers, William Baeder, Manchester, and Joseph Baeder, Brick Township; two sisters, Geraldine Chadwick, Brick, and Eileen Adams, Shallotte, N.C.; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and her dear friends for whom she had a special affection, Kathy and Larry Schmidt, Brielle.

Funeral arrangements were from the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township.

Contributions in Mrs. Smith’s memory may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 216 Haddon Ave., Suite 328, Westmont, 08108; or the Sandra M. Glazier Memorial Scholarship, c/o the Princeton Area Community Foundation, 15 Princess Rd., Lawrenceville, 08648.

Michael T. Bowen
Panama City Beach, Fla., resident Michael T. Bowen, whose parents live in Point Pleasant, died Friday, Feb. 10.

He was 36 years old.

He was a resident of the Panama City Beach area for 16 years, moving there from Springfield.

He wa a graduate of Jonathan Dayton High School, Springfield.

Surviving are his parents, Harry and Joan Bowen, Point Pleasant; one brother, Kevin Bowen, Seattle, Wash.; one niece, Sophia Bowen; and numerous other family members.

Funeral arrangements were from the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Panama City, Fla.

Dorothy A. Martin
Point Pleasant resident Dorothy “Dodi” A. Martin died Sunday, Feb. 19 in her home.

She was 60 years old.

Born in Pasco, Wash., Mrs. Martin moved to Point Pleasant 25 years ago.

She was employed as a secretary with Meridian Health, Brick Township.

Surviving are her husband, William J. Martin; one daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Scot Herron, Neptune; a stepson, William Martin, New Castle, Del.; a sister, Betty Snyder, Las Vegas, Nev.; and her cat, Peanut.

Funeral arrangements were from the Colonial Funeral Home, Brick.

Adelaide Rogers Ahl
Brick Township resident Adelaide M. Rogers Ahl, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Monday, Feb. 13 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick.

She was 90 years old.

Born in Rye, N.Y., Mrs. Ahl lived in Linden and Point Pleasant for many years before moving to Brick seven years ago.

Before moving to the Shore area, Mrs. Ahl and her husband owned a nursery in Linden for many years. She was also a homemaker.

She was predeceased in 2000 by her husband, Phillip Ahl.

Surviving are her sister, Miriam Higbee; five nieces, Linda Kirkman, Pamela Thorn, Penny Warrington, Randi Higbee and Ronnie Higbee; two nephews, Bruce Rodgers and Jeff Higbee; and her close friends, the Starkey, Hazlet and Hank families.

Funeral arrangements were from the Van Hise and Callagan Funeral Home, Point Pleasant Beach.

Catherine Watson
Howell resident Catherine Watson, whose sister lives in Point Pleasant, died Thursday, Feb. 16 in Leisure Chateau Care Center, lakewood.

She was 80 years old.

Born in Linden, Mrs. Watson lived in roselle before moving to Howell.

She was predeceased in 1969 by her husband, Robert Watson.

Surviving are two sons, Robert Watson, Elizabeth, and Randall Watson, Howell; one daughter, Robin Cuccaro, Freehold; one sister, Dorothy Wills, Point Pleasant; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were from the George S. Hassler Funeral Home, Jackson.

Robert N. Spina Sr.
Toms River resident Robert N. Spina Sr., whose daughter lives in Point Pleasant, died Sunday, Feb. 19 in Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown.

He was 73 years old.

Born in North Bergen, Mr. Spina moved to Brick Township in 1995 and Toms River in 2002.

He was employed as a detective with the North Bergen Police Department, before retiring in 1982 after 26 years of service.

He was a member of the North Hudson Homing Pigeons Association.

He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth Turner Spina; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert Jr. and Barbara, Chester; two daughters and one son-in-law; Debra Spina, Hackensack; and Joy and Al Homan, Point Pleasant; one brother, August Spina, Dumont; one sister, Frances DeBlaise, Franklin Lakes; seven grandchildren, Shawn, Jason, Shayna, Richard, Cheyanne, Chelsea and Briana; and two great-grandchildren, Amber and Nyssa.

Funeral arrangements were from the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, Toms River.
