Gerald J. Whitehead
Brick Township resident Gerald J. Whitehead, whose sister lives in Point Pleasant, died Saturday, Feb. 18 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick.

He was 66 years old.

Born in Jersey City, Mr. Whitehead lived in Union Beach before moving to the Shore area three years ago.

He was employed for 25 years as an electrician with IBEW Local No. 164, Paramus.

He was a past communicant of of Holy Family Church, Union Beach.

He was a Navy veteran, serving during peacetime.

He was predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Catherine Whitehead, and five brothers and sisters.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia D. Galvin Whitehead; two daughters-in-law, Patrick and Sarah Whitehead, Union Beach; and Gerald and Beth Whitehead Jr., Union Beach; one daughter, Jennifer Whitehead, Aberdeen; one stepson, Andrew Plant, Avenel; two brothers, Herb, Paramus, and Robert, of New York; five sisters, Peggy Persico, Paramus, Geraldine Geraghty, Point Pleasant, Ronnie Taperino, Parsippany, and Bernice Lord and Marie Sloan, both of Jersey City; one grandson, Zachary Whitehead; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were from the Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Frederick T. R. Koenig
Sea Girt resident Frederick T. R. Koenig died Monday, Feb. 20 at Meridian Nursing and Rehab Center, Brick Township.

He was 81 years old.

Born in Newark, Mr. Koenig resided in Spring Lake Heights before moving to Sea Girt in 1963. He wintered in Palm Beach Shores, Fla. Mr. Koenig graduated from St. Peter’s Prep and attended Holy Cross College before entering the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following the war he graduated with an accounting degree from Seton Hall University. Mr. Koenig was vice president of Crown Distributors, Wall Township, and retired in 1995 after 47 years of service. He was a communicant of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Sea Girt, and was a member of the Manasquan River Golf Club, the B.P.O.E., Lodge 2534, Manasquan, and VFW Post 1838, Manasquan.

Mr. Koenig was predeceased by his wife, Beatrice Ann Koenig, in 2004.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, F. Thomas and Dolores Koenig, Brielle, Michael V. and Janet Koenig, Brielle, Richard D. and Jean Koenig, Manahawkin, Stephen C. and Victoria Koenig, Las Vegas, Nev., and Daniel Koenig, Point Pleasant; his daughters and sons-in-law, Beatrice and Bill Schrader, Point Pleasant, and Patricia E. and Stephen Valentino, New York City; his brother, Richard V. Koenig, Bayville; his grandchildren, Gabriella, Samantha, Abigail, Emily, Cassandra, Jarrod, Heidi, Lance, Lorraine and Matthew; and his great-grandchildren, AnnaBea, Matthew and Cody.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Sea Girt. Entombment will follow in St. Catherine’s Mausoleum, Wall. Visiting will be today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South St., Manasquan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Manasquan First Aid Squad, 65 Broad St., Manasquan, 08736.

Francis J. Campanile
Point Pleasant resident Francis Joseph Campanile died Tuesday, Feb. 21 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.

He was 78 years old.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Campanile moved to Jersey City in 1930. He lived in California before moving back to Jersey City, and then moved to Point Pleasant in 1990.

He attended Lincoln High School, Jersey City.

He was employed as a carpenter and cabinet maker. Previously, he worked as a mechanic.

He was an Army veteran, serving in Korea.

He was involved with the construction and testing of the atomic bomb in Nevada in 1953.

Fran and his wife loved to water ski, which they first began on a boat Fran built with his brother. He also was the skipper on his fishing boat, the FADA, which was berthed on the Manasquan River in the 1970s. He would love to tell stories of his life experiences. He will be missed by his family and friends, and will always be the “neighborhood guy.”

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Rachel Salzano Campanile.

Surviving are his high school sweetheart and wife of 54 years, Genevieve Mayo Campanile; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Vinny Rivera, Point Pleasant; one brother, Ralph; two sisters, Rachel and Marie; three grandchildren; Gena Marie, Daniel Francis, and Vincent James; many nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

Funeral arrangements are from the Colonial Funeral Home, Brick Township. A funeral Mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m. today in St. Martha’s Church, Point Pleasant. Interment will follow in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Campanile’s memory may be made to the West Point Class of 2009 Association of Graduates, 698 Mills Road, West Point, NY 10996.

Joseph W. McNally
Point Pleasant resident Joseph W. “Goat” McNally died Thursday, June 1 in his home.

He was 75 years old.

Born in New Brunswick, Mr. McNally lived there before moving to Point Pleasant in 1969.

He was empl

oyed as a sheet metal worker with Local No. 27, New Brunswick.

He was a communicant of St. Martha’s Church, Point Pleasant, and a member of the St. Martha Council.

He was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge No. 2534 and the VFW, both in Manasquan.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

“Remember me with laughter.”

Surviving are his wife Penny McNally; one son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Carrie McNally, Point Pleasant; two daughters and son-in-law, Cathi Ann and Daniel Popovitch, Brick Township, and Kimberly McNally and her fiancee, Scott Potter, Point Pleasant; three brothers, Thomas McNally and John McNally, both of Somerset, and William McNally, Milltown; and two grandchildren, Alexandra and Kelli Rose.

Funeral arrangements were from the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant.

Frederick W. Eigenrauch Jr.
Bonita Springs, Fla., resident Frederick William Eigenrauch Jr., formerly of Lavallette, died Sunday, May 14, in Houston, Texas.

Mr. Eigenrauch lived in Hasbrouck Heights and Lavallette before moving to Bonita Springs, Fla.

He founded Fred W. Eigenrauch & Co. accounting firm and later retired as partner from R.D. Hunter & Co.

He was a member and served on the Board of Directors of Glen Ridge Country Club: was a member and served on Board of Directors of the N.J. Hotel Motel Association; member of the Hasbrouck Heights Lions Club; a former member of Toms River Yacht Club, and was past exalted ruler of BPOE No. 1962.

He was an Army veteran, serving in the 27th Infantry Regiment-Wolfhounds.

He was an active racing sailor and spent 15 wonderful years sailing in the Caribbean under the name of “Captain Jack” with his wife.

He was predeceased by his parents, and two brothers, William and Lawrence Eigenrauch.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Beatrice Gross Eigenrauch; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Frederick III and Cathy, and Peter; two daughters and one son in law; Susan Sherman, and Drs. Heidi Saul Karpen; and his grandchildren, Bryan Sherman and his wife Missy, and Emily and Matthew Karpen; and one great-grandson, Brendan Sherman.

Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Friday, July 28 in the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Eigenrauch’s memory may be made to the Baylor College of Medicine Pediatric Liver Fund, with BCM Cost Center 2532223201 on the memo line and sent to Dr. Saul Karpen, Baylor College of Medicine, One Baylor Plaza, MC3-3391, Houston, TX 77030.

Wanda T. Zalewski
Brick Township resident Wanda T. Rafalko Zalewski, whose daughter lives in Point Pleasant, died Saturday, June 3, in Ocean Medical Center, Brick.

She was 84 years old.

Born in Throop, Pa., Mrs. Zalewski lived in Kearny before moving to Brick 27 years ago.

She was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, Harrison, the St. Theresa Society of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, and St. Dominic’s Seniors Club, Brick.

She was a member of the Polish Women’s Alliance of Harrison, AARP, Brick Community Center Golden Age Club, the Lady Guard, and the Polish American Citizens Club of Kearny.

She was predeceased in 1989 by her husband, John W. Zalewski; and by two brothers, Alphonse Rafalko and Julian Rafalko; and one sister, Katherine Tasco.

Surviving are one son, Thomas J. Zalewski, Freehold; two daughters, Madelyn Campbell, Howell, and Dorothy Scott, Point Pleasant; one sister, Helen Jenkins, Brick; and five grandchildren, Dawn, Ryan, Victoria, Alicia and Michael.

Funeral arrangements were from the Colonial Funeral Home, Brick.

Pauline Spader
Point Pleasant Beach resident Pauline “Polly” Spader died peacefully Thursday, June 1, in Pacific Grove, Calif., with her daughter at her side as she began her journey home to meet the Lord.

Born in Malvern, Polly moved to New Jersey as a young woman, residing in Point Pleasant Beach since the early 1950s.

After completing courses in professional beauty techniques, she was the owner/operator of a beauty salon in Linden.

She was a Sunday school teacher with the First Assembly of God, Point Pleasant.

She had many interests led by her faith and centered on her family, including gardening, antiques, civil and hospital volunteering, global travel, and assisting others. In her later years, she spent summers at her Lavallette beach cottage and winters at her Alabama farm. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren. Polly will be missed by all.

She was predeceased by her husband, Mike Spader, and her grandson, Alex Crall.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael W. and Donna Spader, and Tom Spader, all of Point Pleasant Beach; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melanie and Michael Crall, Monterey, Calif., and Nina Sue and Richard Kellers, Brielle; one brother, John Paul Pullum, and one sister, Nell Paulk, both of Malvern, Ala.; nine grandchildren, Stella Rose Crall, Monterey, Calif., Jay Kellers, Trenton, Alissa Hauber, and Sarah, Michael and Evan Spader, all of Point Pleasant Beach; Katherine Ilvento, Holmdel; and Kevin and Brian Spader, Point Pleasant; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral arrangements were from the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant.
