GUY R. LONG, 54, of Shark River Hills, NEPTUNE, died Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He was a carpenter. Mr. Long was a graduate of Stockton State College, with a degree in business. He enjoyed golfing and the outdoors, especially the mountains and hunting and fishing with his son. He was very well versed and loved art. Guy was a hard worker who cherished his family and was loved by everyone. Born in France, he had a dry sense of humor and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his sister, Joan House. Surviving are his son, Paul Long, a daughter, JoAnne Long, both of Naples, Florida, three brothers, Richard J. Long, Jr. of Lakewood, Mark Long of Forked River and Michael Long of Montana, a sister, Ann Long of Toms River, his parents, Richard J. Long, Sr. and Anne Long of Whiting, his life companion, Carol R. Taylor and her children, Shea Taylor and Mitzi McGillin, his step grandchildren, Erin and Jonah, and his grandson, Ryan, who was the light of his life. A funeral service was held at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove on Saturday, March 1st at 10:00 AM. Friends were invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the to the family would be appreciated.

CHARLOTTE LOUISA CLAYTON, 93, of LEWES, Delaware, went home to be with the Lord on March 1, 2008 in Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford, DE. Mrs. Clayton was raised in Ocean Grove, NJ, where she lived most of her life, the daughter of the late Emma and Elmer Smith. She was a 1932 graduate of Neptune High School and a 1935 graduate of the Ann May School of Nursing of Fitkin Memorial Hospital, Neptune, NJ. She worked as a registered nurse in several facilities including the Jersey Shore Medical Center. The loving wife of the late Stanley L. Clayton, she devoted herself to raising her four children and took great joy in her family, friends and professional relationships. She enjoyed reading and traveling and was a long time member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Ocean Grove and the Jersey Shore Woman’s Club. She was predeceased by her brother, Elmer L. Smith, and sister, Elinor C. Magee. Surviving are four children: Cary P. Clayton, Elinor N. Ashfield, Judy C. Dusche, and Jean L. Quinn; nine grandchildren: Wendy J. Schuler, Christine S. Seidel, Robin L. Schuler, Alex C. Skuby, Ian C. Skuby, Lisa C. Skuby, Cary P. Clayton, Jr., David C. Clayton, and Peter C. Dusche; and seven great-grandchildren. Friends were invited to call at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove from 11:00 AM Wednesday. A funeral service was at 12:00 Noon. Interment followed at the Atlantic View Cemetery, Manasquan.

GAIL J. WILLS, 87, of OCEAN GROVE died Thursday, February 28, 2008 at THE Manor by the Sea, Ocean Grove. Mrs Wills was a homemaker and a volunteer with the Meals on Wheels program. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, John "Jack" Wills in 2005. Surviving are her children, Bob of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Joy Matovsky of Brick and Shane of South Portland, Maine, three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Friends were invited to call at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Ave., Ocean Grove, on Saturday, March 8th from 1 to 2 p.m. A funeral service was at 2 p.m. Interment was private.

JANET B. HENDRICKSON, 88, a lifelong resident of OCEAN GROVE, entered her eternal rest on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 after a long illness. She was an active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Ocean Grove for 75 years where she sang in the church choir, was active in the United Methodist Women, a member of the Edith Frederick Circle, volunteered at the church's food pantry, and served as the church secretary for thirteen years. Janet was also active at the Neptune Senior Center, the local Red Hat Chapter, and was a past member of the Ocean Grove Women's Club. Janet was predeceased by her husband, James, and her brother Herbert "Bud" Bush. She is survived by her brother, Lester W. Bush of Bonita Springs, Fla.; her daughter, Karen H. Marks and her husband Gene of Neptune; her son, James I. Hendrickson Jr. and his wife Debbie of Ocean View, Del.; her son, Robert W. Hendrickson and his wife Keri of Thornton, Colo.; and son, Richard H. Hendrickson and his wife Gina of Summit. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends were invited to call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Ave., Ocean Grove. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 80 Embury Ave., Ocean Grove, with interment following at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Scholarship Fund of St. Paul's United Methodist Church would be appreciated.

EVA CADMUS, 82, of OCEAN GROVE, died Saturday, March 22, 2008 at Renaissance Gardens, Tinton Falls. Miss Cadmus was a buyer for the Franklin Simon Department Store, New York City, retiring in 1957. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Ocean Grove, a member of the Ocean Grove Historical Society and the Ocean Grove Homeowners Association. Miss Cadmus was a graduate of the Drew Seminary for Young Women and the New Jersey College for Women, now Douglas College of Rutgers University. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ocean Grove Auditorium Ushers Association and the Asbury Park Women's Club. Born in Newark, she lived there and in New York City before moving to Ocean Grove where she had summered all of her life. Surviving are three nieces, Elinor West of Bethlehem, Conn., Sally Cadmus of Rocky Hill, Conn., and Mary Titus of Glastonbury, Conn.; and her cousins, James and Susann Cadmus of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and California. Services and burial were private. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association, 54 Pitman Ave., Ocean Grove, NJ 07756 would be appreciated.

Anna Virginia Zingale, 100, of Ocean Grove, died of pneumonia on Friday, March 21, 2008 at the Neptune Rehab and Care Center, where she was living after suffering a fall and fracturing a hip last year. Virginia led a very full life, retiring from her job in US Civil Service at Ft. Monmouth in 1973. After retiring, she cared for her mother and father until their deaths. She was always a great comfort to her sister Alida. Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1907, her family moved to New Jersey in 1914. Surviving are her sister, Alida, of North Carolina and a niece, Arlene, of New York. Services were private.

FREDERICK H. NIEDENSTEIN, 83, of OCEAN GROVE, died Saturday April 5 at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Mr. Niedenstein worked in Public Relations for Eastern Airlines for 35 years before retiring. He was a lifeguard in both Ocean Grove and Bradley Beach, for more than 40 years, leading the lifeguard team to victories in many tournaments. Mr. Niedenstein was a founding partner of the Jersey Shore Fitness Shop in Bradley Beach, and 28 years later the Fitness Shop still thrives. He was a member of the Eagle Hook and Ladder Company of the Ocean Grove Fire Department. Mr. Niedenstein was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United Sates Army. Born in the Bronx, NY, he lived in Ocean Grove for the last 60 years. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Anne Hulsey Niedenstein, his son, John Niedenstein, and his wife, Kim, of Wall Township, two daughters, Jill, and her husband, Jeff Grantz, of Columbia, SC and Karen and her husband, Ron Kluesener, of West Gilgo Beach, New York, seven grandchildren, Jake, Halie, Katie, Derrick, Christopher, Cameron and Casey, a niece Patty Kuester, a nephew Peter Milligan, a cousin, Joseph DeKens, and a grand niece, Heidi. Friends were invited to call from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Tuesday at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove. A memorial service was held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Ocean Grove. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Eagle Hook and Ladder Company, 128 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove, N. J. 07756 or the National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 NW 9th Avenue - Bob Hope Road, Miami, Florida 33136-1494 or on line at www.parkinson.org would be appreciated.

LESTER W. BUSH, 80, a native of OCEAN GROVE, died Monday, April 7, 2008 in Bonita Springs, Fla. He had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and then worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 41 years serving as the Ocean Grove postmaster for the last 15 years of his postal career. Upon his retirement in 1986, Lester and his wife Ruth relocated to Bonita Springs and remained frequent visitors to Ocean Grove. Lester volunteered for 50 years in the Ocean Grove Fire Department, Fire Company 1. He was predeceased by Ruth, his wife of 53 years; a sister, Janet B. Hendrickson; and his brother, Herbert "Bud" Bush. He is survived by his sons, Lester W. "Bill" Bush, Jr. and his wife, Lynne, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Ocean Grove, and Robert A. "Bob" Bush of Ocean Grove; two granddaughters, Amy Marx and her husband, Ronnie, of Wellington, Fla., and Bethany Garcia and her husband, Arturo, of Wellington, Fla.; and six great-grandchildren, John, Adam and Ella Marx, and Eli, Bentley and Zane Garcia. A memorial service was held in Bonita Springs.

CECELIA MATUSZEWSKI, 86, of NEPTUNE, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at the King Manor Care Center, Neptune. She was a homemaker. Born in Mainz, Germany, she had lived in Ocean Grove before moving to Neptune in 1995. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Matuszewski in 1988. Surviving are a niece, Veronika Sutor, of Budenheim, Germany. A graveside service was held at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Neptune, on Friday, May 9th at 11:00 AM, with burial following. There are no calling hours.
