MARION RUTH McGLONE, 90, of NEPTUNE, died Sunday, May 11, 2008, at home. She was the owner of Carriage Yarn and Boutique, Ocean Township for thirty-nine years until retiring in 2005. Mrs. McGlone was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Born in Newark, she had lived in Maplewood then Asbury Park before moving to Neptune thirty-four years ago. She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, John T. McGlone in 2006 and by her son Richard J. McGlone in 2005. Surviving are a son, John T. McGlone of Fair Haven, a daughter, Nancy Braden of Medford, NJ, four grandchildren, Kristen Tessler, Michael McGlone, Christopher Brayden and Jacqueline Ladik, and three great grandchildren, Jenna Tessler, Jack Tessler and Lauren Ladik. Friends may call on Monday from 2-5 PM at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove. A funeral service was held at 4:00 PM. Interment was private.

MARGARET F. BURGER, 105, of NEPTUNE, died Monday, May 19, 2008 at the Neptune Rehabilitation and Care Center. Miss Burger was a clerk for the CNA Insurance Company before retiring. Born in Newark she lived in Ocean Grove before moving to Neptune. Surviving is her niece, Alma Buccino of Toms River. Services and interment were private.

RUTH SMYTHE BAILEY, 86, of OCEAN GROVE, died Thursday, May 22, 2008 after a life well-lived. She was born in South Belmar, the daughter of Charles and Maude Smythe. After graduating from Monmouth Memorial Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse, she worked at Point Pleasant Hospital. With the start of World War II, she proudly joined the United States Navy. While working at Saint Albans Naval Hospital in New York State, she met the Navy man who would later become her husband. She also served at Camp Lejeune, N.C., caring for the Marines. In 1949, she married Dr. Forman T. Bailey, Jr., and they subsequently moved to Ocean Grove. They lived there, in the same house, for over 50 years. During that time, she was a long-time member of the Ocean Grove Recreation Commission. Spirited, energetic and hospitable, Mrs. Bailey always loved a house full of people. Her nurturing ways led her to caregiving for the elderly, both family and friends. Her lively presence will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dr. Forman T. Bailey, Jr.; a son, William H. Bailey and his wife Barbara of Shark River Hills; two daughters, Carol A. Bailey of Ocean Grove and Barbara J. Bailey of Newport, R.I.; and three grandchildren, Rebekah Bumbernick and her husband Scott, Russell Bailey and Mary Bailey. Graveside services and interment at the Atlantic View Cemetery, Manasquan were private. Friends were invited to call and a memorial service was held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, New York and Embury Avenues, Ocean Grove. In lieu of flowers, donations to Salvation Army, P.O. Box 527, Asbury Park, NJ, or to a favorite charity in her memory would be appreciated.

JOAN S. ADAMS, 85, of NEPTUNE, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at her home. Mrs. Adams was a member of the Hamilton United Methodist Church, Neptune and the Order of the Eastern Star. Born in Spring Lake, she was a lifelong resident of Neptune. She was predeceased by her husband, Rufus Darvin Adams, Jr. in 1996. Surviving are her three sons, Douglas F. Adams and his wife Betty of Neptune, Darvin D. Adams and his wife Debbie of Manchester, and Gregg J. Adams and his wife Kathie of Spring Lake Heights, a sister, Helen Hurry of Ocean Grove, a granddaughter, Anna Adams, and her cousin, Eleanor Morrissey of New York. A funeral service was held at the Hamilton United Methodist Church, 858 Old Corlies Avenue, Neptune on Saturday morning, June 7 at 11:00 AM with interment following at Hamilton Cemetery. Friends were invited to call at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove on Friday 4:00 - 8:00 PM.

SARAH TANSEY HOLME, 96, of Annapolis, MD and OCEAN GROVE, died Thursday June 19, 2008. She was born in Byberry, Pennsylvania and was raised in North Philadelphia. Her father, George H. Mitchell was a farmer and owned amusement rides in Ocean Grove. She graduated from Frankford High School in North Philadelphia in 1930. Her mother owned a summer home on Abbott Avenue in Ocean Grove. In 1931 on the South End Beach in Ocean Grove she met Justus M. Holme. She always said “They were properly introduced” and their wedding took place in her brother’s home in 1936. The Holme family has had a summer place in Ocean Grove for six generations. Sarah summered in the family cottage and spent the winters in Annapolis before moving to Francis Asbury Manor in Ocean Grove in 2007. In 1942 she and her husband were stationed at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis where he was a math professor. The family enjoyed sailing on the Severn River. Mrs. Holme attended the First Presbyterian Church on Duke of Gloucester Street, where she served as a deacon and was very active in church functions. Her mother, Elizabeth Mitchell, her brothers Edward and Howard and her sister, Claire all predeceased her, and her husband Justus M. Holme died in 1999 after 62 years of marriage. Surviving are her sons, . Justus M. Holme, Jr., and his wife, Susan, of Virginia, and William H. Holme of Connecticut a daughter, Sarah E. “Sally” Harris and her husband, Norman, of Ocean Grove and five grandchildren. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday July 12 at 1:00 PM at Francis Asbury Manor, 70 Stockton Avenue, Ocean Grove. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the First Presbyterian Church, 171 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, MD 21410 or to Francis Asbury Manor in memory of Sarah Tansey Holme would be appreciated.

SYLVIA PRUZAN, 84, of OCEAN GROVE and Hoboken died Thursday, June 26, 2008, at her home in Ocean Grove. She had worked as a psychologist at Manhattan Psychiatric Hospital until retiring. Mrs. Pruzan received her Bachelors Degree from Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont and she received her Masters Degree from Goddard College in Boston, Massachusetts. She was a practicing Zen Buddhist and enjoyed furthering her education and pursuing new interests. In June of 1992 she was ordained as an Interfaith Minister. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Pruzan, in 1995. Surviving are two daughters, Helen Pruzan of Ocean Grove and Carol Pruzan of Hoboken. A memorial ceremony was held at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove on Wednesday, July 9th.

BETTY A. TICE, 78, of Fairfax, VA, formerly of OCEAN GROVE, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at the Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax, VA. She loved animals and was a friend to them all. She was generous with her time and love as shown by her devotion to her family and all her furry little friends who needed her. Betty was a loving daughter, mother, sister and friend. Born in Harrisburg, PA on April 20, 1930, she lived in Ocean Grove before moving to Fairfax. She was predeceased by her parents, Marguerite and Joseph Fitting. She is survived by her children, Ken Tice and Karen Roberts, by her grandsons, Joshua and Joseph Roberts and by her sister, Elaine Myring. A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 12th at 1:00 PM at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove. Her family asks that you please bring pictures and memories to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the ASPCA, 424 E. 92nd St., New York, NY 10128-6804 would be appreciated.

LEIDA ENNUKSON, 92, of Croton-on-Hudson, NY, formerly of OCEAN GROVE, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at the Springvale Inn, Croton-on-Hudson. She had worked as a mail clerk for THE First National City Bank, New York City until retiring in 1980. Mrs. Ennukson was a member of the Auxiliary to the Ocean Grove First Aid Squad. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens Club of the Salvation Army. Leida was born in Estonia. She was predeceased by her husband, Werner Ennukson in 1994. Surviving is her friend, Kaja Ross of New York. A graveside service was held at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Lakewood on Saturday, July 5th at 10:00 AM with burial following.

SONIA J. CORDON, 54, of ASBURY PARK, died Sunday, July 13, 2008, at home. She was a laborer for Explorer Medical, Neptune. She was born in Guatemala. Surviving are her husband, Matias Duarte, and her children, Jose Miguel, Claudia, Andrea Luci and Elisa Sophia. A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church, Third & Grand Avenues, Asbury Park at a later date. There were no calling hours.
