CELEBRATION OF LIFE --- Brown --- Leander Patricia Carney Brown a 40-plus year resident of Maplewood, NJ and Martha’s Vineyard, MA; devoted mother of Dr. Denise Brown-Allen and Leah Brown, JD, loving grandmother of Daniel and Dorian Allen and Christopher and Clayton Sumrell, beloved sister of Dorothy Mattox, Henrietta Rice, Henry Carney Jr., and Dolores “Peaches” Leigh; departed her life’s journey on earth on Wednesday, November 10, 2010. She was adored by her sons-in-law Douglas Allen and Vincent Sumrell; brothers-in-law, John W. Rice, Sr., Richard Leigh, and Bernard Brown and sisters-in-law Sandra Carney, Sherry Tucker-Brown and Jean Carney. She was predeceased by her loving parents Henry and Delores Carney of Jersey City, NJ; brother Israel (Buddy) Lee and sister Loretta Lee; brothers-in-law, Allen C. Brown and Lonnie Mattox. Leander was the highly revered Aunt to Rev. John W. Rice Jr., Marilyn Townes, David Rice, Lauren Mattox, Charisse Carney-Nunes, Maria Rice Bellamy, Karen Leigh, Dawn Carney-Massey, Susan Leigh, Lisa Carney Henry Carney, III and Malik Brown. She blessed the lives of a host of grand-nephews and grand-nieces and was widely revered as “Aunt Leander” to a multitude of extended family and friends. She was a retired educator serving the Newark Board of Education for more than 30 years.
Visitation will be held at the Preston Funeral Home located at 153 South Orange Ave, South Orange, NJ on Friday, November 12, 2010 from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend the funeral service at the Church of St. Andrew And Holy Communion, on Saturday, Nov 13th 2010 at 9:30 am located at 160 South Orange Avenue, South Orange, NJ. Interment will be held at Graceland Memorial Park in Kenilworth, NJ at 1:00pm. Donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association - National Headquarters 3300 East Sunrise Dr., Tucson, AZ 85718.

William P. Edmund Jr., 90, of Toms River, formerly of Maplewood, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at home.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church, 767 Prospect St., Maplewood, on Monday, March 15, at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Teresa's Cemetery, Summit. Born in Richmond Hill, N.Y., Mr. Edmund lived in Maplewood for 49 years before moving to Toms River eight years ago. He was a computer programmer with J.P. Morgan, New York City, from 1946 to 1982, when he retired. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps with the 711th Bombardment Squadron in the European Theater, from 1941 to 1945. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Maplewood.
He was the beloved husband of the late Evelyn L. Pfaff Edmund; devoted father of William P. Edmund III, Denise A. Christensen, Richard L. Edmund, Diane C. Adams, Margaret A. Lynch, Donna M., Robert S. and the late Andrew A. Edmund. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105-1905 or Hospice of NJ, 40 Bea Lea Road, Toms River, N.J. 08753 would be appreciated.

Theodore E. Nelson, 72, died peacefully on Feb. 18, 2010, at home in Millburn. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial prayer service at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Ave., Short Hills, on Saturday, March 27, at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. Arrangements are by The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, Maplewood.
Theodore "Ted" was a longtime resident of Millburn Township, where he served as a crossing guard for the Millburn Police Department Traffic Bureau for over 10 years. He most notably worked as a crossing guard on the corner of Millburn Avenue and Short Hills Avenue for the St. Rose of Lima School and Millburn High School. In addition, Ted also safely crossed parishioners at Christ Church on Highland Avenue in Short Hills for Sunday services and special events. Ted was born in Hudson County and held various industrial jobs to support his family prior to owning and managing Exxon gas stations throughout New Jersey and Florida. He finished his business career prior to joining the traffic bureau as a crossing guard, a position he held until the time of his passing. Ted is fondly remembered by the countless children, parents and parishioners he diligently crossed during his career and for his steadfast dedication to the township of Millburn. His kind and gentle demeanor earned him many friends throughout the township in his lifetime.
He is survived by many friends.
