Gertrude “Trude” Keenan
Wall Township resident Gertrude “Trude” Keenan died Friday, June 5 in Waterford Glen in Wall.

She was 90 years old.

Born in the Bronx, N.Y., she lived in New York City and retired to Orlando, Fla. in 1978 before moving to Waterford Glen in Wall in 2006. In 2008, she was crowned Ms. Waterford Glen.

Mrs. Keenan worked for 40 years for Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City in private banking. Her clients were famous broadway stars, directors and producers. After retiring to Florida, she worked for the Orange County Visitors Bureau. She was an avid traveler and golfer.

Mrs. Keenan was pre-deceased by her husband, Edward.

She is survived by one son, Edward and his wife, Law Rae; two grandchildren, Michael of Brielle and Kevin of Syossett, N.Y.; and four great grandchildren, Molly, Michael Jr., Brandon and Madison Grace.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 13 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Margarets Roman Catholic Church in Spring Lake.

Neary Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South Street in Manasquan is in charge of arrangements.

Sandra Kristinna Rogers
Manasquan resident Sandra Kristinna Rogers died Saturday, June 6 at the Manor by the Sea in Ocean Grove.

She was 75 years old.

Born in Sea Girt, she lived in Spring Lake Heights before moving to Manasquan 10 years ago.

Mrs. Rogers was a lifetime active member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, where she and her late husband as a young couple led the youth group. She later became a member of the United Methodist Women, a Lay leader, member of Rebecca Circle and a trustee. When her children were young, she was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader and Den Mother.

After the death of her late husband, Sandra assumed ownership of the family electronics company, Charles W. Rogers and Son Inc. in Manasquan. She was a past member of the local chapter of Deborah hospital. In 2000, she was inducted as an honorary legionnaire by the American Legion Post No. 432. Until her recent illness, Sandra was an avid seamstress and knitter and worked at Cloth World and JoAnn Fabric in Brick.

Mrs. Rogers was predeceased by her parents, Leonard and Ida Mae Jacobson; her husband, Charles W. Jr. in 1983; and her companion, Leo Meenachan in 2003.

She is survived by one son, Scott of Barnaget; two daughters, Tina of Manasquan and Heidi Frye and her husband, Tom of Brick; one brother, Ronald Jacobson and his wife, Marilyn of Manasquan; one sister, Diane Ford and her husband, Jim of Wall Township; and five grandchildren, Rebecca and Colin Frye, and Sarah, Jessica and Zachary Rogers of Belmar. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

The family will be greeting relatives and friends on Saturday, June 13 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, Spring Lake. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. and a reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church.

The Neary Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South Street, Manasquan is in charge of arrangements.

Kevin J. Megill
Spring Lake Heights resident Kevin J. Megill died Tuesday, June 2 at Capital Health System in Trenton.

He was 53 years old.

Born in Neptune, he was a lifelong resident of Spring Lake Heights. Mr. Megill was an electrician with the IBEW Local 400 in Wall Township. Kevin enjoyed playing in the softball league with his coworkers from Local 400 and also coached little league baseball. He was an avid golfer and in his leisure time would enjoy a fine cigar and a fine glass of red wine. He was deeply devoted to his beloved family, and never missed a party for any one of his many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Donald Megill Sr.

Kevin is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Patell Megill and his sons, Kevin, Jr. and Ryan Megill. He also leaves his mother, Joyce Burroughs Megill; his brother, Donald Megill Jr.; and his sisters, Debbie Duchat, Sheri Lopez and Vicki Quinn.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A funeral service will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, followed by burial at St. Anne’s cemetery in Wall.

Odd J. Knutstad
Odd J. Knutstad, formerly of Bradley Beach, Brick and Milford, Del., died in his oldest son’s home in Brick after an extended illness.

He was 79 years old.

Born in Whitestone, N.Y., Odd resided in Park Ridge and moved in 1952 to Wall Township, Bradley Beach, Brick, Milford and Westmont. Odd was a CPL in the army during the Korean War. He was awarded several medals of honor and was very proud to have served his country in war. Before entering the war, he played semi-pro basketball. He loved all sports and was an avid hunter and member of the NRA. He worked at Lou’s Cottage Inn in Sea Girt for several years. He was the manager of the Lullabye Diaper Service in Avon for 17 years and retired from the Dy-Dee Corporation in Westmont as the general manager in 1999.

Odd was predeceased by his sister, Tove Brunet of Wall Township.

He is survived by his brother, Alf of Bernicia, Calif.; his wife, Judy Downes Knutstad and daughter, Tove of Milford; daughter, Lisa of St. Petersburg, Fla.; son, Kristopher and wife, Kim of Brick; and son, Thor and his wife, Andrea of Erie, Pa. Odd was a proud grandfather of six, Shana and Casey O’Brien of Toms River, Jordan and Bryn of Erie, and Richard and Randall Grape of Brick.

Graveside services were performed by his youngest son, Minister Thor Knutstad on Friday, May 8 at the Brigadier General Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. Memorial contributions in Odd’s memory can be made to the National Rifle Association, 11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax, VA 22030.

Harold H. Anderson
Bradley Beach resident Harold H. Anderson died Friday, May 29 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.

He was 84 years old.

Harold worked for the Monmouth County Park System from 1973 to 1987, retiring as a principal park ranger. While with the park system, Harold attended Rutgers University and the University of North Carolina. He was an active member of Camp Happiness NJ Blind Citizens Association in Leonardo. Harold was a devoted baseball and Frank Sinatra fan, who enjoyed long walks on the boardwalk. Born in Hoboken, Harold lived in Jersey City before moving to Bradley Beach in 1970.

Harold is predeceased by his loving wife, Evelyn Lorgan Anderson.

He is survived by his son, Robert and his wife, Lisa of Tinton Falls; his daughters, Joyce Marie Clarke and her husband, Bob of Pipersville, Pa. and Karen Irene Anderson of Bradley Beach; and four grandchildren, Marissa Anderson and Nicole, Jennifer and Melanie Clarke.

Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar was in charge of arrangements. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at the Church of the Ascension in Bradley Beach, with interment at Holy Cross cemetery in North Arlington.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name to Camp Happiness NJ Blind Citizens Association, 18 Burlington Avenue, Leonardo 07737 would be greatly appreciated.

Jane A. Schucht
Wall Township resident Jane A. Schucht died Sunday, June 7 at home with her family by her side.

She was 66 years old.

Born in Manhattan, N.Y., she moved to Wall Township in 1963.

Mrs. Schucht was employed by the Wall Township Municipal Court as a clerk and served with the Wall Township Police Department as a Police Matron during the late 1970’s until the early 1980’s. She retired from the South Monmouth Board of Realtors in 2007 after 20 years of service as an executive secretary. Mrs. Schucht enjoyed many years of playing Marjon with her good friends, Ruth, Sandy and Lenore. She also enjoyed all types of crafts.

She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph Burkhart and Marion Matthis Burkhart.

Mrs. Schucht is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years Arthur Schucht; her loving children, Raymond Schucht and his wife, Gretchen of Bricktown, Kenneth Schucht and his wife, Mary of Kingsport, Tenn., Steven Schucht and his wife, Cheresa of Wall Township, and Kevin Schucht and his wife, Patricia of Bricktown; her sister, Geraldine Damm and her husband, Paul of DeBary, Fla.; her brother, Raymond Burkhart and his wife Angela of Queens, N.Y.; and her sister-in-laws, Lorraine Schucht of Hawaii, and Virginia Duffy of Suffern, N.Y. Mrs. Schucht is also survived her 12 very special grandchildren who she cherished, Sarah, Matthew, Elizabeth, Gabrielle, AJ, Jessica, Heather, Josiah, Denise, Natalle, Samantha and Kyle. In addition she was survived by her cousins, Laurie Schultz and Bill Wolfertz; six nieces; five nephews; 10 grandnieces and nephews; her adopted sister, Erna; and a close family friend, Ed.

Visitation will be held today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Johnson-McGinley Funeral Home, 2652 Highway 138, Wall Township adjacent to the Rt. 18 North entrance.

On Friday, funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. Margaret, 3rd and Ludlow Avenue, Spring Lake. Burial will follow at St. Ann cemetery 1610 Allenwood Road Wall Township.

James N. Perry Sr.
Spring Lake Heights resident James N. Perry Sr. died Thursday, June 4 from complications of a soft tissue sarcoma.

He was 78 years old.

Jim is survived by Alice McCoy Perry, his wife of 50 years; six children, James Jr. and his wife, Molly of Chicago, Michael and his wife, Amy of Brielle, John of Spring Lake Heights, Maura Goldstein and her husband, Ron of Washington, D.C., Ellen Winthrop and her husband, Mark of Hopkinton, Mass. and Bridget Perry and her husband, Tipton Blish of Seattle, Wash; and nine grandchildren, Jimmy, Clare and Kate Perry, Rose Goldstein, Anna, Sean and Nicole Winthrop, and Zadie and Niamh Blish.

Jim was born on November 14, 1930, in West Orange. He attended West Orange High School and Yale University, New Haven, Conn. He graduated Yale with a BS degree in 1952. He also received an MBA from NYU in 1955.

Jim served in the US Army as a Second Lieutenant between 1953 and 1955 and retired from the US Army Reserves in 1960 as a First Lieutenant.

Jim spent his entire working career with Halsey Stuart, the municipal bond firm, and its successor companies Bache and Prudential Bache. He retired as Senior Vice President as head of underwriting in 1986.

Jim married Alice McCoy of Newark, at Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church in East Orange on May 16, 1959. Jim and Alice bought their first house in Matawan in 1963, where they raised their family of six children. The family moved to Westfield, in 1976 and Jim and Alice retired to Spring Lake Heights in 1989, where they were active members of St Mark's Catholic Church in Sea Girt and Jim was a member of the St Mark's Holy Name Society. Jim's sister, Helen Kendall, resides in Lexington, KY, and his surviving brother, William, lives in Freehold, NJ.

Jim is recently predeceased by his brother Walter.

Jim will be remembered for his personal warmth, his deep intellect, his strong faith and his wry sense of humor. He was a devoted husband and father, an avid golfer and tennis player and a superb body surfer. He was much beloved by family, friends and coworkers.

O'Brien Funeral Home 2028, Highway 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall was in charge of arrangements. A Mass was offered at St. Mark's Church in Sea Girt, followed by entombment at St. Catharine's Cemetery, Wall Township.
