Ruth E. Dwyer, 76
Executive Secretary For TriState Rubber in Scotch Plains
Ruth E. Dwyer, 76, of Bridgewater died on Monday, December 13, 1999 at Arbor Glen Health Center in Bridgewater.
Born on June 4, 1923 in Brooklyn, the daughter of the late James F. and Ruth Arnold Reddy, she had lived in Westfield before moving to the health center two years ago.
Mrs. Dwyer was a retired executive secretary for the TriState Rubber Corporation in Scotch Plains.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur G. Dwyer, in 1995, and by a son, Robert Reddy.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Virginia Pierce of High Bridge and Sharon Duble of Chesterfield, Mo.; six step-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will take place today, Thursday, December 16, at 10 a.m. at the Arbor Glen Chapel, 100 Monroe Street, Bridgewater.
Interment will be at Moravian Cemetery in Staten Island.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society - New Jersey Division, Inc. Hunterdon Unit, 84 Park Avenue, Flemington, 08822.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home Inc. in Lebanon.

Anthony J. Curto, 30
Anthony J. Curto, 30, of Phoenix, Ariz. died on Sunday, December 12, 1999 in Maricopa Center Hospital in Phoenix.
Born in Newark, he had lived in Mountainside for 12 years and in Colorado before moving to Arizona many years ago.
Mr. Curto was a personal trainer in Phoenix for many years.
Surviving are his wife, Lourdes Curto; a daughter, Camille Angelina; his parents Raymond and Camille Curto, and a sister, Gina Zannino.
A Mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, December 17, in the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Newark.
The funeral will be from the Galante Funeral Home in Union.

Jonathan Stern, Jr., 58
Jonathan Dwight Stern, Jr., 58, died on Saturday, December 11, 1999 in Eastchester, N.Y.
Born in Plainfield, he was raised in Westfield and had also lived in Rumson for many years.
He maintained homes in New York City, East Grand Rapids, Mich. and Orient, N.Y.
He was a graduate of Westfield High School and Nichols College in Dudley, Mass.
Mr. Stern was a longtime member of the American Stock Exchange and worked for several New York City brokerage houses over the years.
He was a member of the Mattituck Platform Tennis Club in Mattituck, N.Y.
Surviving are his wife, Katherine Stern; three stepsons, Michael Keyes, Matthew Keyes and Cameron Keyes, all of East Grand Rapids; a step-daughter, Elizabeth Keyes of East Grand Rapids; his mother, Margaret Stern of Orient, and four sisters, Nancy Matzinger of Pine Brook, Jane Cockerill of Orient, Sandy Bartle of Milford, Conn. and Randy Graf of Clark.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 18, at 11 a.m. at the Orient Congregational Church, Main Road, Orient.
Memorial donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 26707 76th Street, New Hyde Park, N.Y., 11042.

Joseph T. Conroy, Jr.
Joseph T. Conroy Jr. of Humble, Tex. died on Monday, December 6, 1999 at home.
Born in Elizabeth, he had lived in Westfield for 22 years before moving to Humble in 1977.
Mr. Conroy had been employed at the Exxon Corporation for 43 years before retiring as the head of the Accounting Department there in 1982.
He was a graduate of Seton Hall University in South Orange and received a Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business.
Mr. Conroy was a member of the first graduating class of St. Mary’s High School in Elizabeth.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Patricia Conroy; three sons, Joseph Conroy, William Conroy and Christopher Conroy; four daughters, Margaret Winters, Mari Conroy, Kathleen Conroy and Patricia McCaw; a sister, Kathleen Burns, and 10 grand children.
Services have been held under the direction of the Rosewood Funeral Home in Humble.

Clara E. Fletcher, 94
Clara E. Fletcher, 94, of Oswego, N.Y. died on Friday, June 23, 2000 at Oswego Hospital.
Born on July 20, 1905 in Hammond, Ind., the daughter of the late Joseph and Clara Galvin Whalen, she had lived in Westfield for many years before moving to Oswego.
She graduated from Oswego Normal School in 1926. Mrs. Fletcher had been a homemaker and also taught school for many years in Westfield and Newark.
She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Oswego.
She was predeceased by her husband, Maynard Fletcher, in 1988. Surviving are six sons, Maynard Fletcher and John Morrison, both of Westfield; Thomas Fletcher and Paul Fletcher, both of Oswego; James Fletcher of Darien, Conn. and David Fletcher of Reddington; two daughters, Clara Quintal of Indian Lake, N.Y. and Patricia Jackson of South Plainfield; 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Tuesday, June 27, in St. Mary’s Church. Interment followed at Cedar River Cemetery in Indian Lake, N.Y.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home in Oswego.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Westfield Volunteer Rescue Squad, 335 Watterson Street, Westfield, 07090, or to St. Mary’s Church Preservation Fund, West Seventh Street, Oswego, N.Y., 13126.

Helen L. Hansen, 91
Helen L. Hansen, 91, of Willow Valley Manor, Pa. died on Wednesday, June 21, 2000 at Lancaster General Hospital.
Born in Catonsville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Custer B. and Nina Rose Metzger Foreman. She had lived in Westfield and Sea Girt before moving to 1984.
Mrs. Hansen, who graduated from Westfield High School in 1926, was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Lancaster and had been an active member of St. Uriel’s Guild in Sea Girt for many years.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two husbands, Edwin H. Clements, Jr., in 1968, and Clarence W. Hansen, in 1995; a son, Edwin H. Clements, and two brothers, Harold Foreman and William Foreman.
Surviving are a son, John A. Clements of Fayetteville, N. C., and a half-sister, Nina Boyd of Weston, Conn.
Private services will be held at a time to be arranged by the family.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Spacht Funeral Home in Lancaster.

George Knobloch, 77
George C. Knobloch, 77, of Conway, S. C., died on Thursday, June 22, 2000 at home.
Born in Jersey City, the son of the late George Lewis and Hanora Hart Knobloch, he had previously lived in Westfield for many years, where he was active in the community.
Mr. Knobloch was a United States Marine Corps 3rd Division veteran of World War II, having served in Guam, Bouganville and Iwo Jima.
Surviving are his wife, Eleanore Knobloch; two daughters, CarolLynne Wiley of Trappe, Pa. and Leslie Ann Knobloch of Mayatta; two sons, Donald G. Knobloch of Aurora, Colo. and K. C. Knobloch of Morristown, and six grandchildren.
No local services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of the Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice of Horry County, P. O. Box 1409, Myrtle Beach, S. C., 29578.

Tanya V. Ferreira, 72
Tanya V. Ferreira, 72, of Toms River died on Saturday, June 17, 2000 in the Community Medical Center in Toms River.
Born in Newark, she had lived in Scotch Plains before moving to Toms River 18 years ago.
Mrs. Ferreira had been a medical secretary for two Livingston physicians for many years before retiring in 1980.
Surviving are a daughter, Lisa Scheppers, and two grandchildren.
Services were held on Tuesday, June 20, at St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church in Toms River.
Arrangements were handled by the DeGraff Lakehurst Funeral Home in Lakehurst.

Louise K. Eckert, 92
Louise K. Eckert, 92, of Bethlehem Township, Pa., died on Monday, June 19, 2000 in the Blough Nursing Home in Bethlehem.
Born in Somerville, she had lived in Scotch Plains before moving to Bethlehem Township.
Mrs. Eckert had been a legal secretary for a law firm in Newark for many years before retiring.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Jean Eckert Beck; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Friday, June 23, in the John F. Herron Funeral Home in Bethlehem.

Norman R. Day, 84
Decorated Veteran Served With U. S. Army for 20 Years
Norman R. Day, 84, of Long Island died on Friday, June 23, 2000 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Northport, Long Island.
Born in Plainfield on February 23, 1916, he had lived in Fanwood for most of his life until moving to Brick in 1987. He retired to Long Island in 1990.
Mr. Day served in the United States Army for 20 years and was a highly decorated veteran of World War II, the Vietnam War, the Korean Conflict and the Berlin Conflict.
He held the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2 upon his honorable discharge from the military.
He was a member of the Westfield Community Theatre.
Mr. Day attended Madison High School.
Surviving are two daughters, Susan Hollows of Acworth, Ga. and Jacqueline Day of North Plainfield; two sons, Bruce Day of Mount Sinai, N.Y. and Brian Day of Fanwood; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and his wife of 44 years, Joan T. Day.
Funeral services were held on Tues day, June 27, at the O. B. Davis
Funeral Home in Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. Interment followed at The Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, N.Y.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Administration Medical Center (Hospice Unit) in Northport, N.Y. 11768.
