Rita Rose Pajak
Life Dates: September 29, 1925 - January 23, 2005
Rita Rose Pajak, age 79 of Fords, died on Sunday at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy. She was born in Perth Amboy and resided in Fords for most of her life.
Mrs. Pajak was a Lab Technician for Merck in Rahway for 15 years and previously a Lab Technician for the U.S. Dept of Environmental Control in Edison.
She was very instrumental in starting the Fords Pop Warner Bearcats football team in the mid 60’s and the Fords Babe Ruth Baseball League. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Senior Citizens in Perth Amboy.
Her husband, Walter J. Pajak who died in 1988 predeceased her.
Survived by: Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas W. and Marlene Pajak of Chandler, AZ and Daniel W. and Debbie Pajak of Mesa, AZ, her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Robert Toresco of Flemington and her step sister Lorraine Quinn of Camino, FL. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Matthew, Robert, Anthony, Diane, Danny, Douglas Jr., and John Kantra and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Thursday, January 27, 2005 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ.
Funeral Service: Friday, January 28, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Peace RC Church, Fords.
Burial will be in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.

Helen Gardner
Life Dates: November 19, 19198 – January 3, 2005
Helen Gardner, age 86 of Franklinville, died on Monday at Bishop McCarthy Residence Nursing Home in Vineland. She was born in Perth Amboy and resided in Hopelawn and Sicklerville moving to Franklinville in 1981.
Mrs. Gardner was an assembly line worker at Westinghouse for 11 years retiring in 1958. She was a former member of Holy Spirit RC Church in Perth Amboy and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was also a former member of the Hopelawn Senior Citizens, a member of Franklinville Senior Citizens and a member of the Nativity Church in Franklinville.
She was predeceased by her husband, George F. Gardner who died in 1971 and her son, Kenneth Gardner.
Survived by: Surviving are her son, George Gardner of Florida, and her daughters, Geraldine Chandler of Wildwood, Mary Ann Terrusa of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Cathy Lee Conroy of Franklinville. Also surviving are her brother, William Yura of Florida, twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Wednesday, January 5, 2005 2:00-400 & 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Funeral Service: Thursday, January 6, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Spirit RC Church, Perth Amboy.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, South Amboy.

Leona A. Weinberger
Life Dates: September 18, 1920 - January 5, 2005
Leona A. Weinberger, age 84 of Perth Amboy, died on Wednesday at the Central New Jersey Jewish Home for the Aged in Somerset. She was born in and was a lifelong resident of Perth Amboy.
Mrs. Weinberger graduated Douglas College in 1940 and was a schoolteacher for the Perth Amboy Board of Education. She taught for 14 years the 8th grade at Shull School, retiring in 1988. She was a reporter for the Perth Amboy Evening News in the 1940’s. She was a member of Temple Beth Mordecai Sisterhood, Perth Amboy and Hadassah of Perth Amboy. She was also a member of Middlesex County Retired Teachers Association.
Survived by: Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Eugene E. Weinberger, her son and daughter-in-law, Charles A. and Debbi Weinberger of San Francisco, CA, her niece, Carol Dressler of Los Altos, CA and several great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Funeral Service: Sunday, January 9, 2005 at 11:30 a.m.with Rabbi Hilel Rudavsky officiating.
Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 424 East Avenue, Perth Amboy, NJ.
Interment will follow at Beth Mordecai Cemetery, Perth Amboy.

Ann Smusonitz
Life Dates: April 19, 1919 - January 21, 2005
Ann Smusonitz, age 85, died on Friday at Ashton Woods Healthcare Center in Atlanta, GA. She was born in and resided all of her life in Perth Amboy until the Spring of 2001 when she became ill. She then moved to Alpharetta, Georgia to be under the care of her sister, Helen Gloskey.
Ann attended the local public schools in Perth Amboy and was a Distributor for Mele’s Children Dress Shop for 20 years retiring in 1983. She was a communicant of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Perth Amboy and a member of St. Mary’s Seniors Citizens and Perth Amboy Senior Citizens.
She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Nagy who died in 1997.
Survived by: Surviving are her sister, Helen Gloskey of Alphetta, GA, her nieces, Kathleen Bustin of Raleigh, NC and Carol Smith of Suwanee, GA, two great nephews and two great nieces.
Visitation: Wednesday, January 29, 2004 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 424 East Avenue, Perth Amboy, NJ.
Parastas Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Panachida Service will be on Thursday, January 27, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Basil Rakaczy officiating.
Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Perth Amboy.

Samuel Sanders
Life Dates: March 2, 1913 - January 20, 2005
Samuel Sanders, age 91 of Perth Amboy, died on Thursday at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was born and resided most of his life in Perth Amboy.
Mr. Sanders was a Sales Representative for 32 years with Raritan Candy Company in Perth Amboy which was bought by the Union Tobacco and Candy Company in Elizabeth, retiring in 1978.
He was a member of Congregation Shaarey Tefiloh in Perth Amboy and a member of Raritan Americus F & AM Lodge # 61 in Woodbridge for 70 years.
His wife, Ruth Cohen Sanders who died in 2000 predeceased him.
Survived by: Surviving are his daughter, Jane Sanders Leal of Metuchen, his son, Joel M. Sanders of Houston, Texas and his granddaughters, Sylvie Sanders Leal, Marisa L. Sanders and Caryn Sanders Marcus.
Services: Funeral Services: Sunday, January 23, 2005 at 1:00 p.m.
Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Avenue, Metuchen, NJ.
Burial will be at Beth Israel Memorial Park in Woodbridge.

Lloyd Rubin
Life Dates: June 24, 1919 - January 21 2005
Lloyd Rubin, age 85, died on Friday, at JFK Haven Hospice in Edison. He was born in New Brunswick NJ, where he attended school and was a member of their championship swimming team.
Lloyd answered the call to duty and enlisted in the US Army in 1941. He joined the 4th Armored Division in Pine Camp, NY and landed at Omaha Beach in June of 1944 as a tank commander in General George Patten's 3rd Army. As part of General Patton's command, the 4th Armored Division gained worldwide attention as the spearhead of the units coming to the aid of the 101st Airborne in the Battle of the Bulge. Sergeant Rubin's battlefield decorations include the Croix de Guerre with Palm, French Fouragerre with Olive Branch, Belgian Award, American Campaign E.T.O. award with 5 battle stars, Good Conduct Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation.
He served as a Board Member and later as National President of the Fourth Armored Division Association as well as being a member of American Legion Post #163 in Fords where he served as post adjutant. He later became a member of the Iselin American Legion Post #471. Lloyd’s love of photography led him to open Lloyd's Photography in Perth Amboy after working many years for Sunshine Dry Goods and other companies as a salesman. He was active in Boy Scouting and served as Assistant Scoutmaster, then Scoutmaster of Troop 58, later to become Troop 555 of Edison.
His other passions included flying as a member of the Aircraft Owners Pilots Association, bowling in the Central Jersey B'nai Brith Bowling League, where he won many team and individual championships, boating, and RV'ing as a member of the Middlesex Roadrunners Chapter of the Good Sam Camping Club and the Family Motorhome Association. Along with his wife Gloria, Lloyd traveled throughout 47 states, several Canadian Provinces and a few foreign counties.
He was a member of Temple Beth Mordecai in Perth Amboy, NJ.
Lloyd was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Sarah Rubin and his sisters Ann Rubin Reuben and Yetta Rubin Unterman of Highland Park.
Survived by: Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Gloria Sunshine Rubin his son David and daughter-in-law, Judith of Mt. Pleasant, SC and his son Mitchell and daughter-in-law Patricia with grandchildren Sarah and Aaron of Edison as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services: Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 24, 2005 at 12 noon.
Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ.
Interment will be in Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge.
Shiva will be observed at the family's residence Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

Catherine Walaszek
Life Dates: November 25, 1912 - September 16, 2004
Catherine Walaszek, age 91 of Jackson, NJ died on Thursday at Paul Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood, NJ. She was born in Perth Amboy where she reside for 89 years before moving to Jackson 2 years ago.
Mrs. Walaszek was a seamstress for Al Peters Shirt Factory in Perth Amboy and also worked for the Perth Amboy School System in the cafeteria of the Shull School.
Her husband, John Walaszek who died in 1991, and her great-grandson Gabriel who died in 2002 predeceased her.
Survived by: Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, John and Marianne Walaszek of Old Bridge, and her daughters and sons-in-law, Dolores and Ralph Crain of Marietta, GA, Joan and Allen Mantz of Toms River and Sandra and Joseph Ferraro of Cockeysville, MD. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and her sisters, Anna Wisniewski and Violet Zambor.
Visitation: Friday, September 17, 2004 7:00-9:00 p.m. with a Wake Service at 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Service: Saturday, September 18, 2004 at 8:15 a.m. followed by a 9:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stephen’s RC Church, Perth Amboy.
Interment will be at at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: The Children’s Hospital Foundation
