Blaine E. Ryan, 76
Was Employed In Admissions Dept. at Seton Hall
Blaine E. Ryan, 76, of Westfield died on Sunday, September 24, 2000 at Western Medical Hospital in Santa Ana, Calif., where she had been visiting relatives.
Born in Chicago, she had lived in Union before relocating to Westfield 13 years ago.
Mrs. Ryan had been employed in the Admissions Department of Seton Hall University in South Orange until retiring in 1985.
Earlier, she had been a dental hygienist for a number of years, having received her training at Columbia University in New York City.
She was predeceased by a sister, Rita Hutton.
Surviving are five sisters, Mary Odell, Virginia Harris, Geraldine Thaete, Joan Schusler and Monica Connolly.
A Mass was offered on Friday, September 29, at St. Joseph’s Church in Santa Ana.
Interment took place in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, N. Y., following a memorial Mass in St. Francis Chapel.
A second memorial Mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Nora Wright
Nora Wright of Plainfield died on Wednesday, September 20, 2000 at home.
Born in Rembert, S. C., she had lived in Westfield for many years before relocating to Plainfield.
Mrs. Wright was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Bethel Gospel Choir and Boykin and Dow Choir, all at the Bethel Baptist Church in Westfield, where she was a member for 62 years.
Surviving are two sons, the Reverend R. Edwin Bennett and Theodore Wright; a daughter, Martha Hamlette; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Monday, September 25, in the Bethel Baptist Church.
Arrangements were handled by the Plinton-Curry Funeral Home in Westfield.

Mary M. Cunniff, 77
Mary M. Kirk Cunniff, 77, of Westfield died on Sunday, October 1, 2000 in Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Passaic, she had lived in Newark before moving to Westfield in 1953.
Mrs. Cunniff had been a secretary at Schering-Plough Corporation in Kenilworth for 12 years before retiring in 1987.
She was a 1942 graduate of the Drake Business School in Newark.
Mrs. Cunniff was a member of the Holy Trinity Rosary Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters of America and the Amenity Club of Westfield.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Cunniff, and by a daughter, Margaret Cunniff.
Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen Shouffler and Patricia Dazzo; two sons, William Cunniff and Thomas Cunniff, and two grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered yesterday, Wednesday, October 4, in the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield, following the funeral from the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.
Interment took place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.

Joseph J. Szeliga, 82
Sales Coordinator; CCD Instructor and Past Grand Knight
Joseph J. Szeliga, 82, of Westfield died on Saturday, August 26, 2000 in Runnells Specialized Hospital of Union County in Berkeley Heights.
Born in Elizabeth, he had lived in Westfield for more than 43 years.
Szeliga had been a sales coordinator with the Wilson-Jones Company in Elizabeth, where he worked for 47 years before retiring in 1983.
He was a communicant of the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield, where he was also a lector and a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine instructor.
He was a past Grand Knight of the Monsignor Henry J. Watterson Knights of Columbus Council No. 1711 in Westfield, and a past Faithful Navigator of the Watchung General Assembly, Fourth Degree, Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Szeliga was a member of the Old Guard of Westfield, the Scotch Hills Country Club and the Linden branch of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America.
Surviving are his wife, Edna McGraham Szeliga; three daughters, Rosanne Eakin of Placitas, N. M., Catherine Ambos of Highland Park and Bonnie McNamara of Westfield; four sons, Christopher Szeliga of Wilmington, Ill., Timothy Szeliga of Long Lake, Minn., Justin Szeliga of Perkasie, Pa. and Paul Szeliga of Mountainside; three sisters, Mary Wnek of Elizabeth, Sophie Ciurczak of Warren and Helen Boorazones of Chicago; a brother, Anthony Krempa of Clark; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered yesterday, Wednesday, August 30, in the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church.
Interment took place at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery in Colonia.
Arrangements were handled by the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield.

Antoinette Eniclerico, 91
Antoinette Eniclerico, 91, of Westfield died on Friday, August 25, 2000 in the Westfield Center, Genesis ElderCare Network, in Westfield.
Born in New York City, she had lived in Brooklyn before moving to Westfield two years ago.
Mrs. Eniclerico had been employed at Larsen’s Bakery in Brooklyn before retiring many years ago.
She was a member of the Brooklyn Citizens Club.
Surviving are two sons, Richard Eniclerico and Vincent Eniclerico, three granddaughters.
A Funeral Liturgy was offered on Monday, August 28, in the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield.
Interment took place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.

Joseph Bohdan, 81
Air Force Veteran; Was Retired New York City Firefighter
Joseph Bohdan, 81, of Warwick, N. Y., died on Friday, August 25, 2000 in the Schervier Pavilion in Warwick.
Born in New York City, he had lived in Scotch Plains before relocating to New York.
Mr. Bohdan had served on the New York City Fire Department for many years before retiring.
He was a United States Air Force veteran and a member of the Warwick Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4662.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Bohdan; a daughter, Victoria Loughrey; a son, Christopher Bohdan; a brother, John Bohdanovich; a sister, Stella Bradley, and three grandchildren.
Services were held on Monday, August 28, in the Lazear-Smith and Vander Plaat Memorial Home in Warwick.

Joseph Simons, 77
Exxon Executive; Volunteer Computer Skills Instructor
Joseph Simons, 77, of Westfield died on Monday, August 28, 2000 at home.
Born in Philadelphia, he relocated to Westfield many years ago.
Mr. Simons had been employed in various systems management positions with the Exxon Corporation in New York, Houston, Florham Park, London, Rome and Buenos Aires for 36 years before retiring.
He also served as a corporate consultant for the City of New York in the areas of fiscal affairs and the operation of homeless shelters.
After retiring in 1982, Mr. Simons was a management consultant for the International Executive Service Corps, for which he provided volunteer services to companies in Latin America, Africa and the Middle East.
He also volunteered at Covenant House in Manhattan and Raphael’s Life House in Elizabeth, teaching computer skills to residents.
Mr. Simons received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Gertrude Simons; two sons, Joseph Simons, Jr. of New Fairfield, Conn. and Paul Simons of Tel Aviv, Israel; a daughter, Mary E. Ward of Vienna, Va.; a brother, John L. Simons of Haverton, Pa.; three sisters, Sister Genevieve Mary of Immaculata, Pa. and Ann Mackin and Rita Liebchen, both of Philadelphia, and six grandchildren.
A Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, August 31, in the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield, following the funeral from the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.

Russell Ogden, 67
PSE&G Lineman; Member of Lions and National Guard
Russell L. Ogden, 67, of Elizabeth died on Sunday, August 27, 2000 in the home of his son, Kenneth M. Ogden, in Edgewater.
Born in Elizabeth, he had lived in Fanwood for 19 years before moving back to Elizabeth.
He was a direct descendent of John Ogden, one of the original settlers of what was then known as Elizabethtown.
Mr. Ogden had been employed by Public Service Electric and Gas in Elizabeth for 30 years before retiring as a chief lineman in 1982.
He was a platoon sergeant in the National Guard in Morristown for many years and was a member of the Scotch Plains Lions Club.
Surviving, in addition to his son, are two daughters, Michele L. Cody and Melanie A. Ogden; another son, R. Drew Ogden; his parents, Jack and Sylvia Van Pelt, and a sister, Marlene Mayersky.
Services will be held at 10:30 m. today, Thursday, August 31, in the Werson Funeral Home in Linden.
