Pasquale Borgese, 72, of Westfield died on Tuesday, August 29, 2000 in Staten Island University Hospital in Staten Island.
Born in Ravello, Italy, he came to Westfield 23 years ago.
Mr. Borgese was a self-employed contractor and painter in the Union County area since 1969.
Surviving are his wife, Gwen Borgese; a son, Alan Borgese; a daughter, Shirley Borgese; two brothers, Antonio Borgese and Vincent Borgese, and two sisters, Maria Benenati and Rosa Cristiano.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. today, Thursday, August 31, in the Scotch Plains Baptist Church in Scotch Plains.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Avenue in Cranford.

Jeffrey Redwood, 85
Jeffrey W. Redwood, 85, of Scotch Plains died on Tuesday, August 29, 2000 in the Westfield Center, Genesis ElderCare Network in Westfield.
Born in England, he had lived in Newark and in New Vernon before moving to Scotch Plains in 1988.
Mr. Redwood had been a man for Mrs. Max’s Bread Company in Newark for 20 years before retiring in 1980.
Prior to that, he had been a salesman for the Fischer Bread Company, also in Newark.
He served with the United States Army Calvary during peacetime.
Mr. Redwood was a volunteer at the Westfield Center, Genesis ElderCare Network.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara M. Rottner and Linda L. Hoeltje; a son, Jeff W. Redwood; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, September 1, in the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains.

Mildred Warnecke, 97
Former Teacher Had Been Active With Women’s Clubs
Mildred Warnecke, 97, of Maplewood died on Sunday, August 27, 2000 at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.
Born in Burlington, she had lived in West Tremont, Me. and in Springfield, East Orange, Westfield, Roselle Park, Riverton and Short Hills before moving to Maplewood.
Mrs. Warnecke had taught school in Burlington from 1924 to 1927, in Westfield from 1942 to 1946 and at Rutgers Prep in New Brunswick in the 1930s.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the Trenton Normal School, where she was a member of Gamma Sigma Nu.
She served on the Board of Trustees of the Millburn-Short Hills Library.
In addition, she had been President of The Women’s Club in Millburn and a member of the Women’s Club of the Oranges.
Warnecke was a member of the Past Presidents Club of the Seventh District of the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs, and a member and officer of the Suburban Music Study Club in Madison.
Surviving are two daughters, Suzanne Warnecke and Carol E. Harris; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 31, in the Central Presbyterian Church in Summit.
Arrangements are being handled by the Smith and Smith Funeral Home in Springfield.

Mildred Redd, 74
N.J. Bell Retiree; First Baptist Member for 70 Years
Mildred Redd, 74, of Asbury Park died on Wednesday, August 9, 2000 at home.
Born in Cranford, she had lived in Westfield for 30 years before relocating to Asbury Park 13 years ago.
Mrs. Redd had been a clerk with the New Jersey Bell Telephone Company in Cranford for 20 years before retiring in 1985.
A 70-year member of the First Baptist Church in Cranford, she was President of the Missionary Society, a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Activity Committee, Credit Union and Trustee Board.
She had been President of the Westfield branch of the Negro History Club and a member of the Roselle branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the National Council of Negro Women and the Mothers’ Club of the Westfield Community Center.
She also was a volunteer at the Asbury Park Senior Center.
Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Kermit Redd; three daughters, Marilyn Myers, Susan Maynard and Sandra Redd; a son, Kermit Redd, Jr.; two brothers, Alfred Brown, Sr. and Richard Brown; three sisters, Marie Green, Sarah Pierce and Dorothy Douglas, and four grandchildren.
Services were held on Saturday, August 12, in the First Baptist Church.
Arrangements were handled by the G. G. Woody Funeral Home in Roselle.

Charles F. DeWolf, 68
Charles F. DeWolf, 68, of North Plainfield died on Wednesday, August 9, 2000 at home.
Born in Westfield, he had lived in South Plainfield for 20 years before moving to North Plainfield 15 years ago.
Mr. DeWolf was a machinist for Howell Electric Motors in Plainfield for 50 years.
He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post No. 6763 in South Plainfield and American Legion Post No. 203 in Scotch Plains.
Mr. DeWolf also was a member of the Plainfield Country Club in Edison and the Echo Lake Country Club in Westfield.
Surviving are his wife, Marlene DeWolf; two sons, Charles DeWolf and Robert Peardon, Jr.; seven daughters, Kathleen Sheedy, Deborah Sabik, Margaret Purcell, Cyndi Adamczyk, Sharon Pellerano, Tracey Peardon and Denise Lamb; 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Friday, August 11, in the McCriskin Home for Funerals in South Plainfield.
Cremation was private.

George A. Ruskan, Sr., 84
Engineer; Most Recently Worked in Real Estate
George A. Ruskan, Sr., 84, of Manville died on Wednesday, August 9, 2000 in the Somerset Medical Center in Somerville.
Born in Bayonne, he had lived in Fanwood from 1961 until relocating to Manville two years ago.
Mr. Ruskan had been employed as an engineer with several companies prior to starting his own firm, Eagle R& D Appraisals, in Fanwood.
He most recently was employed as a real estate agent and was working part-time for ERA Absolute Realty in North Brunswick.
He was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from the Newark College of Engineering.
He was a member of the Indian Guides and was a Cub Scout pack leader and a Boy Scout commissioner with the Watchung Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
Surviving are his wife, Rita E. Ruskan; three sons, George Ruskan, John Ruskan and Steven Ruskan; two daughters, Laura Mattaga and Carol Maynard; two sisters, Ann Dowd and Marie Rudolph, and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 12, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue in Fanwood.
Interment followed at Bayview Cemetery in Jersey City.

Florence J. Packer, 97
Florence J. Packer, 97, of Fanwood died on Wednesday, August 9, 2000 in Runnells Specialized Hospital of Union County in Berkeley Heights.
Born in Jersey City, she had lived in Cliffwood Beach before moving to Fanwood five years ago.
Surviving are a daughter, Elayne Boryea; a son, Donald Packer; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Thursday, August 10, in the Walter J. Johnson Funeral Home in Clark.

Florence Plotkin, 78
Had Been Active With Jewish Veterans, American Legion
Florence Plotkin, 78, of Scotch Plains died on Friday, August 10, 2000 in Rahway Hospital.
Born in Elizabeth, she relocated to Scotch Plains a year ago.
Mrs. Plotkin had been an instructor with the Elizabeth Recreation Department for 20 years before retiring in 1994.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish War Veterans David Blick Post No. 63 in Elizabeth and an honorary department president of the Department of New Jersey Jewish War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Plotkin also served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Argonne Post No. 6 in Elizabeth and as Secretary of the Union County American Legion.
Surviving are her husband, William Plotkin; a daughter, Freda Rosenshein; two sons, Dr. Lawrence Plotkin and Dr. Elliot Plotkin, and six grandchildren.
Services were held on Sunday, August 13, in the Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home in Westfield.
