Helen K. Arnheiter

Mrs. Arnheiter of Red Bank died March 23 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Kearny, she resided in Summit for 50 years prior to moving to Red Bank. Mrs. Arnheiter was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She was a member and past president of the Fortnightly Club of Summit, and past president of the Women’s National Farm and Gardens of New Jersey, Beacon Hill. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Philip Patrick, in 2002. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Helen K. and Edward Fowler of Sanford, N.C., and Mary B. and Richard James Palazzo of Monmouth Beach; a son and daughter-in-law, Philip F. and Robin Arnheiter of Little Silver; and six grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. James Church, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to the College of St. Elizabeth, P.O. Box 476, Convent Station 07961; or St. Ann’s Villa, 190 Park Ave., Florham Park 07932.

Margaret D. Gaston Melita

Mrs. Melita, 83, of Tinton Falls died March 23 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Fair Haven, she resided in Red Bank and New Brunswick prior to moving to Tinton Falls three years ago. She was a crossing guard for the New Brunswick Police Department for approximately 20 years, retiring in 1986. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Melita, in 1971. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Beth Melita of Fair Haven; and three grandchildren. Interment was at St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to Riverview Medical Center Foundation, 1 Riverview Plaza, Red Bank 07701.

Dr. Charles Moeller Jr.

Dr. Moeller, 87, of Red Bank died March 25 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided in Little Silver prior to moving to Red Bank. Dr. Moeller worked in the insurance industry for 50 years, most recently as senior vice president, chief economist, and head of the equity investments group at Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. He also taught finance at New York University and City University of New York. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member and trustee of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. He was a 60-year member and ex-chief of the Fair Haven Volunteer Fire Company. Mr. Moeller was appointed to the New Jersey Water Supply Authority by then-Gov. Thomas Kean, and was a former chairman of the board at Monmouth Museum, Lincroft section of Middletown. He was also active in Boy Scouts, receiving the Pelican Award and St. George Medal for his contributions to Troop No. 8, Red Bank. Mr. Moeller is survived by his wife of 64 years, Frances Moeller; two daughters, Anne Bicker and Mary Moeller; two sons and daughters-in-law, Peter and Mary Jane Moeller, and Thomas and Karen Moeller; and four grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. James Church. Entombment was at Mount Olivet cemetery Mausoleum, Middletown.

Dorothy J. Kaltenborn

Mrs. Kaltenborn, 67, of Fair Haven died April 2 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Gary, Ind., she resided in Metuchen prior to moving to Fair Haven 33 years ago. Mrs. Kaltenborn was a registered nurse at MCOSS, Red Bank, before her retirement. Prior to that, she was a nurse at AT&T in central New Jersey and at two hospitals. She was a communicant of the Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. She was a religious education teacher and was active in the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts, all in Fair Haven. Mrs. Kaltenborn was predeceased by a brother, Johnny Kolczak. She is survived by her husband, Paul Kaltenborn; two sons, Paul Kaltenborn Jr. and Richard Kaltenborn, both Fair Haven; three daughters, Alicia MacDonald of the Leonardo section of Middletown, Susan Kaltenborn of Tinton Falls, and Joanne Kaltenborn of Fair Haven; a brother, Ronald Kolczak of Lafayette, Ind.; a sister, Marie Kokinda of Holmdel; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Church of the Nativity. The John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements..

Anita J. Lysaught Hickey

Mrs. Hickey, 75, of Shrewsbury died March 31 at home. Born in Bayonne, she resided in Fair Haven and Bergenfield prior to moving to Shrewsbury 37 years ago. Mrs. Hickey was a homemaker. She is survived by her former husband, Thomas Hickey; a son, Thomas K. Hickey of San Francisco; a daughter, Alison A. Granger of Keyport; and two grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.

Ernest Carver

Mr. Carver, 76, of the Belford section of Middletown, died April 1 at home. Born in Livingston, he resided in Hazlet before moving to Belford four years ago. He was a sales representative for Ciba-Geigy, North Carolina, for 30 years, retiring in 1986. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He enjoyed softball and played with the Hazlet and Red Bank softball league for several years. Mr. Carver is survived by his wife of 52 years, Alice McCance Carver; a daughter, Linda Cronin of Belford; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Dawn Carver of Brick; a brother, Alfred Carver of Ocklawana, Fla.; a sister, Beverly Beatty of Kissimmee, Fla.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Entombment was at Holmdel Cemetery. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to VNA Hospice, 141 Bodman Place, Red Bank 07701.

Harry L. Riley

Mr. Riley, 87, of Middletown died April 6 at Avante at Red Bank. He was born in St. Joseph, Mo. Mr. Riley was the CEO and president of Sunshine Biscuits Inc., New York City, before his retirement. He was an active member and church trustee at First Baptist Church, Red Bank. He was a school board member of the Kansas City School District; vice president of the Rotary Club, Queens, N.Y.; and originated the Keep the Village Green committee at Shadow Lake Village, Middletown. He enjoyed golf, travel and gardening. Mr. Riley was predeceased by his wife, Louise Miller Riley, in 1999; a sister, Opal Ellsworth; and a brother, Harold Riley. He is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda and Frank Patersen of Southport, N.C., and Karen Connor of Little Silver; a sister, Juanita Day of Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson. A funeral service was held at First Baptist Church. Interment was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Elizabeth Ann Movelle

Mrs. Movelle, 80, of Fair Haven died April 11 at home. Born in Muskogee, Okla., she resided in Oklahoma prior to moving to New Jersey in 1946. Mrs. Movelle was a homemaker. She was a founding member of the Altar Rosary Society at Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. She was an active volunteer and fund-raiser for organizations including St. James School, Red Bank, the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, and Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She enjoyed time with her family, travel, golf and music. She was predeceased by a son, Daniel Movelle. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dr. John Movelle; three daughters and one son-in-law, Elizabeth Flynn and the Hon. Terence Flynn of Little Silver, Jeanne Wagner of Rumson and Peg Movelle of Boston; three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Barbara Movelle of Chicago, John and Debbie Movelle of Mobile, Ala., and Richard and Mary Movelle of Tinton Falls; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Church of the Nativity, followed by burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to Riverview Medical Center, 1 Riverview Plaza, Red Bank 07701.

Ruth Cortez

Mrs. Cortez, 77, of Rumson, died April 12 in Red Bank. Born in Old Forge, Pa., she resided in Point Pleasant prior to moving to Rumson two years ago. She was a retired billing processor at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, where she was employed for more than 20 years. She was a communicant of St. Martha’s Roman Catholic Church, Point Pleasant. She enjoyed time with her family. She was predeceased by three brothers, John, Joseph and Paul Chundak. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Andrea and Svein Christoffersen of Rumson, and Margaret Zawryt of Las Vegas; a brother, William Chundak of Brick; a sister, Margaret Altounian of West Paterson; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Rumson. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.

Reginald Reevey

Mr. Reevey, 89, of Tinton Falls died April 13 at Liberty Royal Rehabilitation, Tinton Falls. He was a retired farmer and was employed at a chicken farm in Red Bank for several years. He enjoyed time with his family, and fishing. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Berry Reevey in 2002. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. Interment was at White Ridge Cemetery, Eatontown. Arrangements were by Braun Funeral Home, Eatontown. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury 07702.Alexander J. Povalski, M.D.

Dr. Povalski, 76, of Rumson, died April 13 at Care One at Holmdel. He resided in Rumson the past 40 years. He practiced as a cardiovascular surgeon at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank; Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel; and Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, from 1973-98. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a communicant of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Rumson. During his career, he received the Dr. William Perry Watson Prize in Pediatrics for the most notable work in the study of the disease on infants and children. He was a member of the Association of Knights and Ladies Holy Sepulchre, New York City. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Assatly in 1992. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Alexander J. and Heather Povalski Jr. of Middletown; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Robert Winters of the Lincroft section of Middletown; his mother-in-law, Claire Assatly of Monmouth Beach; and four grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Holy Cross Church. Arrange­ments were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.
