COPERINE, YOLANDA

Yolanda Coperine a lifelong resident of Port Chester died November 24, 2010. She was 87, and born April 29, 1923 in Port Chester to the late Joseph and Donata Petriello Golia. She graduated from Port Chester High School in 1941. Mrs. Coperine was married to the late Peter Coperine who died in 1971. She was a retired employee of Met Life Insurance Company in Rye Brook, NY. She was a parishioner of the Corpus Christi Church. Mrs. Coperine is survived by her son Peter Coperine and his wife MaryAnn of Port Chester and daughter Chris Macri and her husband Daniel of Port Chester, grandchildren Danny and Lindsay Macri, Peter, Lauren and Nicholas Coperine and Megan Coperine Chumenti and her husband Vincent, great grandson Vincent Chumenti. She was predeceased by her brothers Vincent and Nicholas Golia and sisters Christina Golia, Migelina Serio and Philomena Rich. Visitation will be 4-8PM on Friday November 26, 2010 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30AM on Saturday November 27, 2010 at Corpus Christi Church 136 South Regent St. Port Chester, NY. Interment to follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery Rye Brook, NY. DEMBO, CHARLIE

Charlie Stoney Dembo was called from labor to reward on November 21, 2010. Served in the United States Air Force and retired from the United States Post Office. He was also a Prince Hall Mason. Charlie is survived by his wife Evelyn and son Keith (Arlene), and four grandchildren. Wake Services will be held at Lee O. Wood Funeral home, 23 E. 2nd St. Mount Vernon on Friday 5-8PM and funeral Services will be held Saturday 9:30AM. Interment at White Plains Rural Cemetery, White Plains, NY

GAFFNEY, EDWARD J.

Edward J. Gaffney, of Orangeburg, died on November 24, 2010 at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ. He resided in Rockland County since 1960 and was a resident of Orangeburg since 1965. He was born in Manhattan to Edward and Helen Browne Gaffney on June 9, 1925. Edward served in the US Navy during WW II and was honorably discharged in 1946. After 25 years, he retired in 1989 from World-Wide Volkswagen in Orangeburg as an expeditor. Edward was a parishioner of St. Catharine's Church in Blauvelt. He was predeceased by his wife, Magdalene, who died in 1995. Edward is survived by his children, Edward J. Gaffney III, Virginia Davis and her husband Jack, and Eileen Murtagh and her husband David; and his grandchildren, Kristi, Mike, Andrew, Eddie, Amy, Anna, Jack and Paul. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, 10AM, at St. Catharine's Church in Blauvelt with burial to follow at Rockland Cemetery in Sparkill. Visiting hours will be Friday, 2-4 and 79PM at the Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan. KINSLEY, NORMA MARY (PUNKY)

Mary Norma (Punky) Kinsley (nee, Watt) died on Saturday, November 20, 2010. Born April 9, 1918, she was 92 years old. Beloved wife since June 19, 1940 of the late John Kinsley, Mary was a long time resident of Monsey, NY prior to moving to Delanco, NJ to live with her daughter Mary Spillane. She worked at Avon for 25 years. Mary lived for her family and is survived by her children, John C. Kinsley and his wife Sharon of Rock Tavern, NY; Mary Spillane and her deceased husband Philip; five grandchildren, Carolyne and her husband Jason Joorabchi, Colleen and her husband Ed Dyess, Jennifer and her husband Martin Mathieu, Kristen and her husband Wallace Campbell, Patrick and his wife Amy Spillane and seven great-grandchildren, Benjamin, David and Zachary Mathieu, Kim and Jonathan Dyess and Christopher and Ethan Spillane, and two brothers John Watt and his Wife Florence and, Dr. Norman Watt and his wife Madeline. Visitation Friday November 26, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Wanamaker and Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY. Funeral Service Saturday 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home followed by an interment at Brick Church Cemetery. MARIANI, MARY T.

Mary T. Mariani, 82, of Eastchester, died on November 23, 2010. Beloved wife of the late Anthony. Loving mother of Anthony (Jeanne), Thomas (Marie Eugenia), Veronica (Dave) Povlock, and Paul (Cory). Dear sister of Angelina Balotti. Cherished grandmother of Jacob, Jessie, Alana, Nick, Christina Marie, Julie Rose, Alexandra and Jaimie. Cherished aunt/great aunt of many nieces and nephews. Mary was the Court Clerk for the Town of Eastchester for many years. She leaves behind many memories with friends and loved ones. The family will receive friends at the WESTCHESTER FUNERAL HOME, INC. PORPORA, FRANCES

Frances Porpora, 84, of Eastchester, passed away on November 24, 2010. Frances was born in Mount Vernon on December 19, 1925 to the late Joseph and Jennie Bianco. Frances married Carmine Porpora on June 13, 1948. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Survived by her husband, Carmine, of 62 years and her children; Stephen (Katherine) Porpora and Fran (Mark) House. Also survived by a sister, Josephine Cioffi and six grandchildren; Billy, Christopher and Jennifer Porpora and Mark, Jeffrey and Thomas House. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday 10A.M. at Mt. Carmel Church with interment to follow at Ferncliff Cemetery. SOUTHERLAND, MARTHA LOUISE

Martha Louise Southerland of Mount Vernon, NY, was called to her heavenly home on November 19th, 2010. A longtime Westchester resident and lifelong educator, Martha settled in Westchester shortly after completing her master's degree at Columbia University's Teachers College and getting married. An unsung hero, during four decades residing in Westchester County, Martha ceaselessly and generously served countless people as a compassionate guidance counselor, social worker, camp director, mentor and friend, all while raising three children and preparing her PhD. She is widely known for the three decades she served generations of students as a Guidance Counselor and as Scholarship Committee Coordinator at Port Chester High School. Martha is predeceased by her mother, Eliza Jane Williams, her sisters, Nancy Glover and Marie Parks and her ex-husband Curtis Southerland. A loving, cheerful, devoted mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, aunt and friend, Martha is survived and dearly loved by her three children, Curtis, Tanya and Eric Southerland; her four grandchildren whom she adored, Nya and Ethan Southerland and Gingeree and Chloe Narcel; her dear brother and sister, Ronald Williams of Pleasantville, NJ and Pauline Miller of Washington DC; her beloved Senegalese "sister", Bigue Ndoye, of Senegal, West Africa and son-in-law, Fabrice Narcel of Paris, France; several dear cousins including Delores and Preston Hall, Betty Gunthrope, Portia McDougal, Margaret Maples, and Iola Rush; many beloved nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends. Martha is also survived by her beloved pets: Mos, Six and Bubbles. Martha's smile radiated light, and her legacy is love, and those blessed to know her will miss her so very much. CARPENTER, JEAN ANNE

Jean Anne Carpenter 82, of Hawthorne, N.Y. died on November 22, 2010 following complications from Pulmonary Fibrosis at Northern Westchester Hospital Center in Mt. Kisco, N.Y. surrounded by her family. She was born on October 15, 1928 to the late Harold and Anne (nee Kirby) Grune in Port Chester,NY. Jean grew up in Mamaroneck, N.Y. and graduated from Mamaroneck High School and Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School. She was a retired secretary at the Holy Name of Jesus School in Valhalla, N.Y. and later was Assistant Bursar at Pace University in Pleasantville, N.Y. Jean married Raymond James Carpenter of Valhalla, N.Y. on May 14, 1949. She was a faith communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Hawthorne, N.Y. for over sixty years and an active member and past president of the Roasry Altar Society. She was also active with the Mt. Pleasant Historical Society, The Mt. Pleasant Seniors and volunteered at the Ruth Taylor Institute in Hawthorne, N.Y. Jean was predeceased by her devoted husband Raymond Carpenter in 1998 and by her brother Harold K. Grune. She is survived by her loving children; Jeffrey (Donna) Carpenter of Katonah, N.Y., Michael (Donna) Carpenter of Randolph, N.J., Patricia (William) Klingler of Seneca, S.C., and Eileen (Jeffrey) Carpenter Rupp of Bozeman, MT. Also survived by her thirteen cherished grandchildren; Amy, Douglas and Karla Carpenter, Jessica (Landon) Swaim, Jamie, Sean Carpenter, Karen (Colin) Clark, Bill and Jill Klingler and Annie, Katie, Jennifer and Thomas Rupp. and two great grandchildren; Fiona and Dashiell Clark. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Tuesday (today) 7-9 PM. and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
