SALAMONE, MICHAEL

Michael P. Salamone of Mt. Vernon passed away on October 16, 2008. Michael was born on April 6, 1921 in Scranton, PA to Joseph and Bertha Salamone. He joined the United States Marine Corps during WWII and served from 1942 to 1945. During the war Michael had the opportunity to meet and cut Bob Hopes hair. "I had my first Pacific haircut here in Majure at Mike's Barber Shop - New York Style Haircuts . . It was a beauty" said Bob Hope. Michael married Marie Raspantini July 17, 1943. Michael owned and operated the Pel-Vern Beauty Salon, Roberts Hair Salon, and Westchester School of Beauty Culture retiring in 2000. He was the past president of the NYS Beauty School Association and an active member of NACCAS. Michael is survived by his wife Marie, sons and daughters Bertha Scarpati (Ralph), Michael Salamone (Jessica), Patricia Brown (Wayne), Joseph Salamone (Donna) and Deborah Memmolo (Joseph), brothers Daniel, Gerard, Sammy, Philip and James. Also survived by fifteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Predeceased by two sisters Agnes and Marie and a brother Joseph. Friends may visit the funeral home on Sunday from 3 to 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial Monday, St. Catherine's Church, 10 AM. ODELL, RAYMOND J.

Raymond J. Odell, of Yonkers, died on October 2, 2008, after a long illness at the age of 80. Raymond was the son of Chester and Agnes Odell. A life-long resident of Yonkers, Raymond was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy after which he worked for Otis Elevator, the U.S. Postal Service for 34 years, and BICC Cables for 10 years. Raymond was very active in softball as a player for Post Ells, manager for Frawley's Pub, and president of the Lakers Assoc. He was an Usher and Eucharistic Minister for many years at St. Denis Church. Raymond was the beloved husband of Joan Fogarty Odell, loving father of Stephen Odell (Colleen) and dear grandfather of Tara and Kristen. He is also survived by his sister Margie McDermott and many nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his sisters Dorothy Ognibene and Marion Bowers. Visiting at the Flynn Memorial Home on Saturday 7 to 9 PM and Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral Mass at St. Denis Church on Monday at 10 AM. PLAISTED, MALVINA (MILLIE)

After a long and fulfilling time here on Earth, Malvina (Millie) Plaisted (92), went home to be with the Lord, quietly in her sleep on October 2, 2008. She was born on October 1, 1916 to her mother Bertha June (Nana Werner) in Doodletown, NY, who preceded her in death. Also waiting to greet her were her brothers, Ernie Burris and Igel Werner, as well as her sister, Kate Zamboni. She is survived by her sister, June Duvall of Florida and her children, Ellen Hopper and husband Edward of Stony Point, William Plaisted and wife Barbara of Pomona and James Plaisted and wife Charlotte; her grandchildren Edward (Skippy), Darryl, Kathy, Terri and Bernadette, along with several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her great nieces, Gina Tooma of Haverstraw and Kelly Mariotti of Thiells. Millie was a faithful member of The Living Hope Fellowship Church and will be sorely missed by her dearest friends Pastor Pete Brayda, Nina Johnson, Gloria Rodgers and her pet cat "Baby". We thank the Lord for the precious time he allowed us to have her in our lives and take comfort in knowing that one day we will all be together again. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM with a Memorial Service to begin at 8:30 PM. A private family passed away peacefully on September 29, 2008. Born in Bronx, New York in 1943. A longtime Mahopac resident. She was the daughter of the late Roy and Viola Wright. Her beloved husband James predeceased her in death. Left to cherish her memory is her sons James, Vincent, Thomas, daughter Pamela, six very special grandchildren and her two sisters, Maureen Woods and Terry DiMicco and host of extended family and friends. Gail will be missed and always remembered for her warmth and generosity. Visitation will take place at Cargain Funeral Home on October 4, 2 to 4 PM and 7-9 PM. October 5, 4-8 PM. SANTINI-SORMANI, MARY

Mary Santini-Sormani on October 2, 2008. Mary founded Mary Santini Real Estate in 1941. She is the beloved mother of Adele Santini, Dolores Patrissi and Robert Santini. She is survived by six loving grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mary is also survived by her brother Ralph Starace. Visiting hours will be held at Farenga Brothers Funeral Home on Saturday and Sunday from 2-5 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 AM at Holy Rosary Church, Bronx. SPARKS, DR. CARLTON ALEXANDER

Dr.Carlton Alexander Sparks, a longtime resident of White Plains died October 1, 2008. Born September 12, 1920 to Louis and Lucille (Price) Sparks in Jacksonville FL where he graduated the public schools, also Tennessee State, Howard University Dental School and Columbia University. He practiced Dentistry in the Bronx and was Director of Dentistry at North General Hospital of Harlem. Married to the former Konnetta E. Putman who survives. An Honorably discharged veteran of WW2. TEILHABER, MURRAY

Murray Teilhaber, 92, of Airmont, New York, died Thursday, October 2, 2008 at home. Prior to his current career as a carpet salesman, he was the owner of Cathedral Furniture House in Manhattan. His father, Gabriel Teilhaber, founded Cathedral in 1912 and Murray and his brother Bernie ran the store for many years. Murray was a proud veteran, having served in the U.S. Army from August 12, 1942 to November 14, 1945. Murray is predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Edith Teilhaber. Murray had a wonderful life with Edie and never stopped missing her. Murray leaves behind his daughter Marge Teilhaber of Fort Lee, NJ; his son Scott Teilhaber of the Domican Republic; his granddaughter Kaela Teilhaber of Woodstock, NY; his daughter-in-law Judy Spielmann of Woodstock, New York; his two nephews and their wives Bruce and Davida Teilhaber of Atlanta, Georgia, and Buddy and Roberta Litvinoff of Milford, CT, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to these wonderful family members, Murray also leaves behind many friends from the JCC in Spring Valley, the Montebello Jewish Center in Suffern, many friends at his condo complex where he was a constant fixture at the pool and clubhouse, lots of friends and colleagues from his many years in the furniture business, friends from his years living in The Bronx and serving in the Army, and many friends in Bergen County and Ulster County. Murray was the life of the party and was a delight to be around. He was proud to be the first male associate member in Rockland County of Hadassah. Funeral Services will be held tomorrow, Sunday October 5, 2008 at 1 PM at HELLMAN MEMORIAL CHAPELS, 15 State Street, Spring Valley, NY. Interment will follow at the Jewish Community Center Cemetery, New Hempstead, NY.Memorial Donations in Murray's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. Murray was most touched by this quote, "The only truly dead are those who have been forgotten." Murray was a fabulous guy and will surely never be forgotten. We will miss him more than words can say.
