LANGLOIS, DAVID J.

ALEXANDRIA BAY, NY- David J. Langlois, 61, of 46745 Old Goose Bay Rd., died Tuesday morning, July 22, at home where he was under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County. Born May 27, 1947, in Alexandria Bay, the son of John E. and Doris Deemer Langlois, he was educated in Alexandria Bay Schools. He was a marine mechanic for T-Z Marine at Stoney Point for many years. Mr. Langlois was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 904 in Alexandria Bay. He was also a former volunteer fireman for the Middletown Fire Department. Marriages to Clover Ferguson and Cathy Rukowski both ended in divorce. Surviving are his father, John E., with whom he resided; a brother, V. (Varmint) Langlois; a sister, Annette Nelson, both of Alexandria Bay; two daughters and one son. His mother died February 27, 2008. A memorial gathering will take place 1 PM Saturday, July 26, at the family's camp on Marsh Island, town of Alexandria. This gathering will be held in memory of David and his niece, Jennifer Claire Langlois, who passed away July 13, 2008. Donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County. Local arrangements are with Costello Funeral Home, Alexandria Bay.

LOPUKHIN, ELISABETH

Elisabeth Lopukhin, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest, Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. She was 75. Born February 14, 1933 in Paris, France, her parents were Nikita and Sophie (a noted theological author and educator) Koulomzin, who predeceased her. Growing up in France, she survived World War II separated from her parents as a very young girl, as it was thought to be safer. Reunited after the war, the family emigrated to the United States in November 1948. Elisabeth was accepted on a scholarship to Connecticut College, New London, CT. where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in French Literature in 1954. After graduating college, she was employed by the World Council of Churches. She married Michael Lopukhin on August 29, 1954. She then worked as a secretary at Air France. The majority of her working life was spent as a dedicated Social Worker at the Tolstoy Foundation Nursing Home in Valley Cottage, NY, where she impressed many with her advocacy for the elderly. Following her retirement in 1998 she served on the Board of Directors of Sts. Cosmas and Damian Nursing Home in Staten Island, NY. A deeply religious woman, Elisabeth was a parishioner at St. Gregory's Church in Wappingers Falls. She also attended services for many years at St. Vladimir's Seminary in Crestwood, NY, and St. Sergius of Radonezh Chapel, Lac Labelle, Canada. Most of all, however, she devoted herself to raising her four children, being an extraordinary grandmother of five grandchildren and being a partner in life with her husband Michael. Always living life to the fullest even in retirement, Elisabeth was a giving woman and always put the needs of others before her own. Elizabeth and her husband were very involved in the Russian Gift of Life, hosting many children in their home while they were recuperating from heart surgery. Elisabeth was an avid gardener, most recently directing a very patient contractor in the building of stone sculptures at her new home. She will always be remembered for her love of life and her delicious "way with food”. She is survived by her husband, Michael, daughters Olga, Tatiana and Alexandra, son Andrei, three granddaughters and two grandsons. Family will receive their friends on Friday, July 25, 2008 at St. Gregory's Orthodox Church, 1500 Route 376, Wappingers Falls. The Funeral Service will be held at 7 PM on Friday at the church. A liturgy will be offered at 9:30 AM at the church on Saturday, July 26. Interment will follow in Russian Convent Cemetery, Nanuet, New York. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Gregory's Orthodox Church Building Fund, 1500 Rte. 376, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590 or Religious Books for Russia, Inc., PO Box 160, Lagrangeville, NY 12540. Arrangements are under the direction of Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, New York.

PAGANO, FRANK E. "GENE"

Frank E. "Gene" Pagano, 69, of Little River, SC, died Monday, July 22, 2008 at Seacoast Medical Center. Born on October 24, 1938 in Manhattan, NY, he was the son of the late Frank and Anna Garguilo Pagano. He was schooled in both the Bronx and Yonkers. He was a retired member of the Sheet Metal Worker's Local Union #38. He was an avid golfer, bowler and enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren. Frank is survived by his wife of 24 years, Grace Grubiak Pagano of Little River; one son, Eugene M. Pagano of NY; one daughter, Andrea Bentivegna (Frank) of NY; two brothers, Richard Pagano of CT, William Pagano of NY; one sister, Loretta Grillo of PA and three grandchildren, Krista, Michael and Judy. He has three children from his first marriage, Anna Marie, Sabina and Frank. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM on Saturday and Sunday, July 26 and 27 at Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Avenue. Interment will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 in Southeastern Memorial Gardens in North Myrtle Beach, SC. Sinatra Memorial Home is serving the family.

READY, PATRICIA

Patricia Ready, 84, of Shallotte, NC passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. In 1988, Mrs. Ready retired from Pearson/Prentice Hall in Old Tappan, NJ and moved to Shallotte, NC. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend who loved to cook, garden, and spend time with her family. Mrs. Ready was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Joseph, in 2007. She is survived by her children and their spouses; Michael and Cheryl Ready of Oxford, GA; Jon and Linda Ready of West Chester, PA; Gary and Kathy Ready of Atlanta, GA; Brian and Joan Ready of West Nyack, NY; Timothy and Leana Ready of Mooresville, NC; and Patricia and Dieter Dant of Spring Valley, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Michelle, Jeanie, Joseph, Kevin, Sherry, Stephen, Brian, Erin, Shawn, Scott, and Brenden; and her great-grandchildren, Abigail and Mason; her sister Janice Smith of Calabash, NC; numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 3:00 PM Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Camp United Methodist Church, Shallotte, NC. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be directed to Camp United Methodist Church, PO Box 776, Shallotte, NC 28459-0766. Brunswick Funeral Service & Crematory, Shallotte, NC.

BENNETT, HAROLD GERARD ("FLAKES")

Harold Gerard Bennett ("Flakes”) passed away on July 21, 2008. He was born on February 28, 1950 to Ennis Paul Bennett Sr. and Louise Jenkins Bennett in Mount Vernon, New York. He met and married Kathy Hilton. This long term union of 36 years produced four children and six grandchildren. He worked for the city of Mount Vernon, DPW for more than 25 years. He is predeceased by his father. Viewing Saturday, July 26th at 11:00 am at Greater Centennial Church, 100 West Fourth Street, Mount Vernon, New York, 10550.

BUDERMAN, THEODORE (TED) T.

Theodore (Ted) T. Buderman passed away peacefully on July 22 with his beloved wife, Pat, of 25 years by his side. He is survived by his stepsons, Vincent, Michael Jay, and Daniel Veltri and wife, Margaret. Born on June 28, 1944 in New Rochelle, Ted is also survived by his loving mother, Pat Buderman MacLeod, and predeceased by his father, Theodore Buderman. He also leaves behind his brother, Peter Buderman, and wife, Ellen, and his sister, Jeannie Preziosi, and husband, Don, and several nieces and nephews and a precious grand-niece and grand-nephew. Ted, educated in New Rochelle, proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Boatswain Mate on the USS Bigelow in the early 1960's. He began his career as a systems analyst for IBM in White Plains, retiring after 30 years, and kept active working at Gus's Restaurant in Harrison, where he will be deeply missed by many wonderful friends. Ted is past Commander of American Legion, Post 135 in White Plains, and was a member of the Vietnam Veterans. An avid NY Giants and Boston Red Sox fan, he also loved visiting Cape Cod with his wife, Pat. A memorial mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Church on Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains, NY on Monday, July 28, at 10:30 a.m. Donations may be made in Ted's memory to the American Cancer Society. The family wishes to express its utmost thanks and appreciation to his dedicated doctors and caregivers at Greenwich Hospital.

CARBILLANO, PHILOMENA

Philomena Carbillano of Yonkers, NY died peacefully on July 21, 2008 at the age of 76. Beloved wife of Peter Carbillano. Devoted mother of Peter (Christine) Carbillano. Dear sister of Angie (Carmine) Pecoraro. Adored step grandfather of Susan and Mark. Friends may call at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Ave on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass at St. Ann Church on Tuesday at 10:30 AM. Entombment Ferncliff Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions preferred.
