Karen A. Lawner of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh. She was 51. Daughter of Barbara Hofving and the late William Hofving, she was born on February 16, 1960 in Queens. She married the love of her life, Alan Lawner on October 24, 1998 in the Poconos; Mr. Lawner survives at home in Wappingers Falls. Karen absolutely loved life. Her motto was "shop 'til you drop".
Robert S. Scott - September 10, 2011
Robert S. Scott, 95, a longtime resident of Wappingers Falls passed away on September 10, 2011. He was born on April 28, 1916 in North Tonawanda, New York. On November 11, 1951 Robert married his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Marie Rettagliata Scott. Mrs. Scott survives at home. Robert was a Safety Engineer at IBM in Poughkeepsie until his retirement on March 1, 1983.

James DeNitto of Poughkeepsie, New York, died on September 8, 2011. He was 66. Son of Helen Drebot DeNitto and the late Anthony DeNitto, he was born in Bronx, New York on August 22, 1945. He was a graduate of Sayville High School on Long Island and Union College in Schenectady. Jim was a seventh-grade life science teacher in the Wappingers Central School District for 38 years. He married Mildred Jean Shay on December 17, 1983.

Anna L. Martinson, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest Monday, September 5, 2011 at her home after a courageous battle with kidney cancer. She was 84. Daughter of the late James and Fortuna DeVivo Ambrosio, she was born August 31, 1927 in Brooklyn. On August 17, 1952, she married Curtis D. Martinson in a double wedding with her twin sister, Autilia and her husband, Paul Rawald at the Church of the Nativity in Ozone Park.

Alan Shevlo, Sr. 95, died Monday August 15, 2011 at Elant at Wappingers Falls. Formerly living at the Family Lodge in Saugerties, Mr. Shevlo was a retired high school art teacher in the New York City School System. Before his recent time in Saugerties, he lived in Lawrence LI, and NYC, where he ran a successful advertising agency, Shevlo Advertising. Some of his clients included Citroen Cars, L'Oreal cosmetics, and Clairol.

Daughter of the late Mary and William Meyer, she was born March 18, 1944 in the Bronx. She graduated from St. Helena Business School, Bronx in 1961. On September 22, 1961, she married James P. McKenna at St. Simon Stock Church in the Bronx. Mr. McKenna preceded her in death.

Marie A. Blasetti, a resident of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest Thursday, August 11, 2011 at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was 65. Daughter of Virginia Saltarelli DeYorio of Wappingers Falls and the late Anthony DeYorio, she was born April 24, 1946 in Yonkers. Marie worked at Zimmer Brothers in Poughkeepsie for many years. She loved her co-workers like her own family.

Daughter of the late Isaac and Lucy Yoh Davidson, she was born on September 12, 1918 in Wernershill, Pennsylvania. She married George W. Hammond on August 27, 1939 at Trinity Church in Fishkill; he preceded her in death, passing on August 13, 1999. Betty worked as a postal clerk.
