Brian Boyle
June 9, 1944 ~ June 14, 2020 (age 76)
On June 14, 2020, Brian Boyle passed away at the age of 76 from cancer, with his family at his side. A devoted husband, nurturing father and loving grandfather, Brian was born in New York, NY, the third child of James and Mary Boyle. He grew up in the Bronx with two older siblings, Dorothy (Fleming) and James. Brian was an avid sports fan from his early years, playing basketball with his friends and rooting for the Brooklyn Dodgers, which made him a bit of a contrarian since he grew up in Yankee territory. After graduating from St. Nicholas of Tolentine High School, he went on to earn a degree in accounting from Manhattan College and a Master’s in finance from NYU.
Brian found the love of his life in 1971 when he met Madeline Joan Morris, a fellow Tolentine High alum. They married in 1973 and moved to Briarcliff Manor, NY on the bicentennial weekend of July 1976. There they raised three children, Brian, Meghan and Pamela.
Brian had a long career in finance, beginning as a CPA at Coopers & Lybrand in Manhattan. He went on to start his own consulting firm, BCB Awareness, where he stepped in as CFO to advise struggling businesses. His career culminated at Professional Detailing, Inc., where he was the Chief Financial Officer and helped the company launch its initial public offering.
Despite his successful and challenging professional career, Brian still played a very active role in raising his children. He was a coach to his children’s Little League Baseball and AYSO Soccer teams, and taught CCD at St. Theresa’s Parish. Brian was also very involved in the community and his giving spirit and curious mind led him to volunteer for many organizations. He was a member of the Briarcliff Manor Volunteer Fire Department for a majority of his time in town. After retiring in 2006, he became a volunteer EMT with the Briarcliff Ambulance Corps, volunteered in the NYC public education system through pencil.org, and volunteered at the Ossining Food Pantry (in addition to working on his golf game).
He was a role model to many and will be remembered for his wisdom, selflessness, and kind soul.
Brian is survived and dearly missed by his wife, Joan, his three children (Brian, Meghan Kirtley, and Pamela), four grandchildren (Allison Boyle, Samantha Boyle, Penelope Kirtley and Elizabeth Kirtley), and his two siblings, Dorothy & James. Brian was predeceased by his sister Mary Catherine, his father James, and his mother Mary.
Reposing, Waterbury & Kelly Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-7 PM. Funeral Mass, St. Theresa's Church, Briarcliff Manor, NY on Friday at 11 AM. Interment, Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY to follow. Due to COVID 19 restrictions social distancing and masks will be required.
