CONWAY, CATHERINE N.

Catherine N. Conway of Ossining died suddenly on January 28, 2005 just 3 days after her sister, Mary, died. She was born in Ossining on June 21, 1929 to Patrick and Mary Morrisey Conway. Catherine worked for over 35 years at Maryknoll. She is survived by her brother Daniel, nephews James (Susan) Conway, Frank (Peggy) Castaldo, Patrick Conway, Michael Conway, nieces Kin (Gavin) Quain, Trisha Conway, Patricia (Rory) Meade, Sharon (James) Matthieu, and Susan (John) Bucknell. She was pre-deceased by her brothers James and Patrick and sisters Patricia Castaldo and Mary Conway. She will be reposing Sunday 2-4PM at LEACH & THOMAS, INC. 32 State St. Ossining. Mass of Christian burial Monday 10 AM at St. Augustine’s Church, burial St. Augustine’s Cemetery.

ZIEGLER, JOHN C.

John C. Ziegler, formerly of Ossining, died January 26, 2005, he was 88. He was born on January 3, 1917 in Astoria to John and Eleanora Wirth Ziegler. John graduated from Ossining School. He served in the Army during WWII. He worked as a toll collector for the NYS Thruway Authority. John is survived by his brothers Elmer of Fishkill, Rudolph of Vermont and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Saturday 11 AM at Dale Cemetery.

RYZY, JADWIGA
Jadwiga Ryzy of Ossining died suddenly on July 31, 2007, she was 65. She was born March 15, 1942 in Cimochy Belarus to Antoni and Anna Piwawrczyk. Jadwiga worked for many years as a bookkeeper for the Polish Slavik Federal Credit Union. She is survived by her husband Emigdiusz, son Piotr, daughter Dorota, 1 brother, 3 sisters and 2 grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by 1 brother and 1 sister. She will be reposing Friday from 5-9pm at Leach & Thomas Inc. 32 State Street Ossining. Mass of Christian burial Saturday 10am at St. Augustine’s Church, burial Dale Cemetery.

PIAZZA, ELSIE “JEAN”
Jean Piazza of Ossining died July 30, 2007 , she was 76. Jean was born in Ossining on September 26, 1930 to Vincent & Ida Ecke. She worked for over 20 years as a correspondence clerk at Sing Sing Prison. Jean was always able to make people laugh. She was a great cook and was known for her sense of adventure Jean was pre-deceased by her husband Michael. She is survived by her sons Michael (Debra) of Campton, NH, Vincent of Ossining, daughter Theresa Columbia, MO, grandchildren Erin Bavis, Jake, Christopher, Allison, Michelle, great-grandson Evan Michael, brother John Ecke and her cat Raisin Bran. She will be reposing Thursday 2-4 & 7-9PM at Leach & Thomas Inc. 32 State Street Ossining. Mass of Christian Burial Friday 10AM at St. Ann ’s Church, burial Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.

CONNOLLY, DANIEL T.
Daniel Connolly of Pleasantville died suddenly on September 25th at home, he was 80. He was born January 4, 1928 to Peter and Anna Connolly. Daniel was a WWII veteran of the Air Force. He worked for many years at the Rockefeller Estate as an Ornamental Horticulturist. He is survived by his wife Catherine, daughter Christina, nephews Peter & Kevin Connolly, James, John & Ricky Vallarelli, Malcolm MacDougal, niece Bonnie Scappaticci. Daniel was pre-deceased by his brothers Peter, Robert “Murph”, sisters Mary and Anne. He will be reposing Sunday 2-5PM at Leach & Thomas, Inc. Funeral Home 32 State Street Ossining. Mass of Christian burial Monday 10AM at St. Augustine’s Church, entombment Rose Hill Memorial Park.

DANKO, EMIL RUDOLPH
Emil Rudolph Danko of Ossining died peacefully at home on July 24, 2007, he was 83. He was born in Lansing, Michigan on November 4, 1923 to Steve and Catherine Danko. Emil served in the US Navy during WWII. He worked as a carpenter for Local #11 in Hawthorne , NY for many years. Emil was an avid hunter. He also enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and woodworking. Emil is survived by his wife Catherine, son Edward, daughter Maerushka, brothers Danny, Tony, Paul, Steve, sister Helen Minker, grandson Emil Benjamin Calderon and great-grandson Brandon John Calderon. He was pre-deceased by 1 brother and 3 sisters. He will be reposing Saturday 1PM – 4PM at Leach & Thomas Inc. Funeral Home 32 State Street Ossining where services will be held at 3PM, interment will be private.

VARA, BENJAMIN
Benjamin Vara of Ossining died July 12, 2007 at Phelps Memorial Hospital , he was 78. He was born in Ancash Lima Peru on March 25, 1929 to Celestino and Adela Vara. After retiring, Benjamin and his wife Maura moved from Peru to be with their daughter Nelly. Besides his wife and daughter, he is also survived by his son Carlos, daughter Noeme, brother Cefereno and 5 grandchildren. He will be reposing Friday 7-9PM at Leach & Thomas, Inc. Funeral Home 32 State Street Ossining. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday 10AM at St. Ann ’s Church in Ossining, cremation to follow at Ferncliff Crematory in Hartsdale.

PANI ARPI, MARIA
Maria Pani Arpi of Hawthorne, formerly of Ossining , died June 10, 2007 after a courageous battle with breast cancer, she was 43. Maria was born May 29, 1964 in Giron Azuay Ecuador to Luis Antonio Pani and Maria Dolores Arpi. She worked in the produce department at the Shoprite in Thornwood. Maria was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Ossining. She is survived by her husband Segundo Manuel Lazo, son Christian Pani, daughters Norma Lazo Pani, Digna Pani, brothers Luis, Jose and Wilfredo Pani, sister Edermira Pani, grandchildren Joanna Chillo, Ryan Chillo, Elvis Crespo and Danny Crespo. She will be reposing Tuesday June 12, 2007 from 7 – 9PM at Leach & Thomas, Inc. Funeral Home 32 State Street Ossining. Mass of Christian burial Wednesday 11:30AM at St. Ann’s Church 25 Eastern Avenue Ossining, burial Dale Cemetery Ossining. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family appreciated.

RODRIGUEZ, ANNA
Anna Rodriguez of Ossining died peacefully on September 26th at home, she was 93. She is survived by her son Robert and wife Karen, daughter Annie, grandchildren Alice Anne & Kara Lynn, sisters Helen Costas & Grace Lee. She will be reposing Monday 2-4 & 7-9PM at Leach & Thomas, Inc. 32 State St. Ossining. Mass of Christian burial Tuesday 10AM at St. Augustine˘s Church, interment St. Raymond's Cemetery.
