ROGERS, MARK C.
Mark C. Rogers, a lifelong Yonkers resident, died on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at the Daughters of Jacob Nursing Center in the Bronx. He was 40 years old. He was born on May 21, 1967 in Yonkers to Franklin H. and Josephine Wilson Rogers. Mr. Rogers was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. Survivors include his mother, Josephine Rogers of Yonkers and three brothers, David Rogers of New City, NY, Charles Rogers of Seaford, NY and Steven Rogers of Yonkers. He is also survived by five nieces and nephews, Matthew, Melissa, Jessica, Raymond and Jimmy Rogers. He was pre-deceased by his father, Franklin H. Rogers. Visitation will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Sunday, January 27th from 7-9 PM. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Sunday at 8 PM. Graveside Service and interment will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery on Monday, January 28th at 10 AM. STEACY, EDITH WESTCOTT
Edith Westcott Steacy, age 95, passed away at her home in Mahopac on January 23, 2008. Edith was born to George and Anna Westcott on November 11, 1912. She graduated from Mahopac High School at the age of 15, then attended the Gaines Secretarial School in NYC. At 19, Edith married Doctor George H. Steacy. In a time when house calls were still the norm, they worked together to bring health care to the citizens of Mahopac. She was one of the founders of the Mahopac Public library, and was the founder of the Mahopac Hospital Service Club. She was elected Treasurer of the Women's Auxiliary to the Medical Society of NYS and served two terms. She was either a member or a Trustee for the following: Town of Carmel Historical Society, AARP, Mahopac Senior Citizens, Landscaping Committee of Putnam Hospital and Mahopac Arts Council (now known as Putnam Arts Council). She was President of the Women's Republican Club of Putnam County and corresponding secretary of the NYS Federation of Republican Women for three terms, and also the Vice President of the NYS Association of Tax Receivers. Pursuing her love of gardening, Edith joined the Mahopac Garden Club back in 1936 and was made an honorary member in 1978. She was a Master Flower Show Judge and Landscape Design Critic and a Judge for the American Daffodil Society.The garden club dedicated a conifer garden in her name at the Town Hall – an event which greatly pleased Edith and her family! In the mid-sixties, she sought out and won the job of Receiver of Taxes for the town of Carmel. Serving for 20 years, she found it to be a most rewarding experience. "It was the wonderful people of the town that made my days so pleasant and made it all seem worthwhile”. At 90 years old she was honored by Supervisor Frank Del Campo and the Town Board with a plaque expressing appreciation for her tireless service to the community as well as her many hours of volunteer work. Perhaps Mrs. Steacy's finest legacy can be attributed to the devotion of her children and grandchildren. She is much beloved by all. Always giving to others, Edith has been a model of courage and selflessness to all who knew her. She was a most amazing woman. Predeceased by her husband Dr. George H. Steacy and son George H. Steacy Jr., Mrs. Steacy is survived by her son Kevin in Chesapeake, VA and two daughters; Kim in Cortez, CO and Gail, who has lived with and cared for her mother for many years, here in Lake Mahopac. Mrs. Steacy is also survived by nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. All will miss her dearly. Visitation will begin on Friday, February 1st, from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. at Cargain Funeral Homes. A funeral service will be held on Saturday February 2nd at 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Holy Communion. Interment to follow at Raymond Hill Cemetery. STERN, GEORGE
George Stern, age 91, died on January 23, 2008, 15 days after the death of Mollie, his beloved wife of 67 years. He enjoyed a fifty-year career as a metallurgist and engineer. His family, the clarinet, tennis, and the Mamaroneck community nourished his profound humanity. Survived by children Susan Dalsimer, Eric Stern, Joan Stern, and grandchildren Sophie and Sam Dalsimer.

TISBE, DR. MICHAEL
Dr. Michael Tisbe, of Suffern, NY, entered into eternal rest on January 25, 2008 at the age of 85. Michael was born on March 14, 1922 in New York City to Teresa and Giuseppe. He is predeceased by his three siblings, Jenny, Mary and Joseph. Michael is survived by his devoted wife, Janet of 42 years, his seven children, Michelle Glasgow (David), Anthony Marciano (Joni), Linda Marciano (Bill), Joanne Matthews, Theresa Santiago (Pablo), Joseph Tisbe (Joan), and Michael Tisbe (Lynn-Anne), 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Michael was dedicated not only to his family but his work as well. He served in both WWII and the Korean War. During WWII, he was assigned to the 596th field hospital and the 61st station hospital in Leghorn, Italy as a physician and lab technician. Discharged in August, 1946, and entered the United States Army Reserves. In 1953, he was called back into the service as a Battalion surgeon and then the Assistant Chief of Orthopedic Surgery, 16th field hospital, Nuremberg, Germany. He was honorably discharged from the service in 1954 and then went into private practice. Dr. Tisbe graduated from St. John's University School of Pharmacy in 1943. Dr. Tisbe graduated from Middlesex School of Medicine in 1947 and was licensed in 1949. Dr. Tisbe again furthered his education and received his degree specializing in psychiatry. He did his residency from 1965-68 at Rockland State Hospital in Orangeburg, New York. Dr. Tisbe was employed until the age of 80, his last position as Medical Director of AHRC of Campbell Hall for which he served 24 years. Not only did Dr. Tisbe have his own private practice in the Bronx, he also worked at several other agencies for the Developmentally Disabled in Orange and Westchester Counties. His love and compassion for all of his co-workers and patients was evident in his everyday life. He will be missed by everyone that knew him. Visiting will be held Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Higgins Funeral Home, 113 East Lake Road, Congers, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Tuesday at St. Boniface Church, Wesley Hills, NY. BORTECK, JEAN (NEE BRESKIN)
Jean Borteck (nee Breskin), on December 21, of White Plains, NY. Adored wife of the late Morris. Loving mother of Mary-Lynn and Jack Rosenberg, Kathy and Eliot Gersten, Gordon and Cheryl Rubin. Dear sister of Mary Ann Breskin and the late Kenneth Breskin. Cherished grandmother of Jonathan, Carolyn and Hilary Rosenberg, Emily and Josh Hagan, Stacy and Leann Gersten. CANNING, ALFRED & MARGARET
Margaret Canning passed away during surgery on Wednesday December 19th only 25 hours after her beloved husband Alfred succumbed to a heart attack on December 18th. The couple was devoted to each other in death, just as they were in life. Theirs is a love that knows no bounds. Alfred and Margaret were wed on June 4th, 1944 and spent 63 years together in love. Until a move to Florida in October of this year, they were lifelong residents of Westchester County. They spent 53 wonderful years together at their home on Oliphant Avenue in Dobbs Ferry. The couple cherished family and friends above all else. Alfred is survived by his loving sister Gladys and Margaret by her beloved sister Mary. The couple is also survived by their sons, Craig and Gary. There will be a Memorial service celebrating their life together in the near future. All family and friends will be notified by Craig or Gary. Alfred and Margaret lived together, shared life together and now they have died together. Their love will live on forever.

CARACCIOLO, AMELIA
Amelia Caracciolo, of Somers died on December 21, 2007. She was 61. Mrs. Caracciolo was born in Rome, Italy. She will be remembered for her smile and her outgoing personality. She is survived by her husband, Thomas of 34 years, two daughters, and two beloved grandchildren and countless other family and friends. Calling hours are Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Clark Funeral Home, Yorktown Heights. Funeral Services will be held Thursday December 27, 2007 at New St. Patrick's Church, Yorktown at 11 am.
