Daisy B. Monroe, a lifelong area resident, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2008 at Schervier Pavilion in Warwick. She was 94.
The daughter of the late John and Sarah Conklin, she was born on June 9, 1913 in Sloatsburg. She was the widow of Elven Monroe.
Daisy was a retired cafeteria cook for North Main Elementary School in Monroe.
Survivors include her daughter, Jean Reynolds and her husband Walter of Monroe; three grandchildren, Peggy Griffin, Karen Scelfo, and Walter Reynolds, Jr.; and six great grandchildren, Meghan Griffin, Sean Griffin, David O'Donnell, Cody Reynolds, Matthew Scelfo, and Robert Grahm.
She was predeceased by her sister, Peggy Youmans.
There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Cemetery of The Highlands in Highland Mills.
Memorial contributions may be made to Monroe Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Inc., P.O. Box 841, Monroe, New York 10949.

MILES, CARMELLA ROSE
Carmella Rose Miles, of Mamaroneck, died August 26, 2008 at age 83. Born November 26, 1924 to Natale & Mary Casterella. A devoted homemaker, she is the beloved wife of the late Clarence Miles. She was an avid gardener and was very active with Al-Anon. Cherished mother of Rosemary Lefflbine, Joanne Chrzescijanek, and the late Betty Jean Varone. Loving grandmother of 9 and great grandmother of 9. Dear sister of Theresa DeLeo, Mary Corsi and the late, Anthony, John, Gabriele, Natale, Orlando Casterella and Lena Ciancio. Visitation Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 at COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME, 767 E. Boston Post Rd., Mamaroneck. 914-698-5968. Funeral Mass Friday 10am St. Vito's RC Church followed by interment at Greenwood Union.

O'CONNOR, RAYMOND T., JR.
Raymond T. O'Connor Jr., of Red Hook, NY, and formerly of Mahopac, NY, died Sunday, August 24, 2008. He was 42 years old. Raymond was born in Yonkers, NY, on August 27, 1965 the son of Raymond T. O'Connor Sr. and Patricia A. McAliney O'Connor. Raymond graduated from Mahopac High School in 1984. He retired a highly decorated NYPD Sergeant, working at the 33 Precinct in Washington Heights. Raymond was studying Diagnostic Medical Sonography at the Institute of Allied Medical Professionals on the campus of the Westchester Medical Center. He was a parishioner of St. Christopher's Church in Red Hook. On February 7, 1998 Raymond married Kelly Power at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Lake Carmel, NY. In addition to his wife of Red Hook, his father of Brewster and his mother of Hopewell Junction, Raymond is survived by his daughter Erin and son Liam of Red Hook, his brother Brian O'Connor of Hopewell Junction, and his sisters Marie Marek of Carmel, NY, and Karen O'Connor of Mt. Kisco, NY. Raymond was a passionate outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hiking, and hunting with bow and gun. His passion for life made him a role model to all and his example will live on forever in the hearts and minds of his family and friends. Visiting will be held today and Friday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home on Rte. 6 in Mahopac. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 11am at St. John The Evangelist Church in Mahopac. Interment will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Red Hook, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in Raymond's memory may be made payable to Raymond O'Connor Trust to benefit Erin and Liam O'Connor. Checks may be mailed to Brian Power, 35 Oak St, Westport, CT 06880. SHUFELDT, VIRGINIA
Virginia Shufeldt died August 25 in Edison, NJ, after a long illness, at the age of 65. She grew up in Staten Island and moved to New Rochelle, 35 years ago. She worked for Sears in White Plains, for 15 years in the Security Division before retiring in 1999. Prior to that she worked in the banking industry. She was active in Girl Scout Leadership and was Editor of BounceBack in the 1980's, a newsletter to support people with MS. She was a founding member of Back-to-School Clothes for Kids and contributed her time, expertise and contacts to help thousands of needy children in Westchester County. She was an advocate for the disabled and active in civic matters. Virginia lived with multiple sclerosis for 40 years and strove to live life to the fullest with an indefatigable spirit and resolve. Virginia was a marvelous cook, superb hostess, had many varied interests, and the best friend you could hope to have. Virginia was also a great deal of fun! Her survivors are siblings Michael, Marion and Camille Fiorillo, devoted sister-in-law and nephew Betty and Andrew Fiorillo, and nephew and nieces Michael Fiorillo, Justine and Celeste Causey. Her family and many close friends will have Virginia in their hearts forever. The wake is at Harmon's Funeral Home (718-442-5056), 571 Forest Avenue, Staten Island on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services is Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Harmon's.

David F. Bloodgood, 73, formerly of Monroe, and a 14 year resident of St. Augustine, Florida, died peacefully at home on Monday, February 25, 2008 surrounded by his family.
He was born on December 16, 1934 in Riftin, New York to William George Bloodgood and Isadora Keator Bloodgood. He moved to Central Valley where his father owned his own painting business called Bloodgood & Son. He married Nancy A. Angel and was a 60 year resident of both Central Valley and Monroe. He became the first Cubmaster of Pack 340 of Monroe and coached MonroeWoodbury Pop Warner and Little League. He was the President and Director of the Lake Regionaires Drum & Bugle Corp; a member of the Monroe Republican Club and the Monroe ZBA. He was voted in as Monroe Town Councilman for eight years and is an honorary member of the Lakeside Fire Company.
He has resided in St. Augustine since 1994 and was working as a bus driver for the St. Johns School District for 14 years. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge 1263 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Nancy A. Bloodgood and son, James Arthur Bloodgood.
He is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Bloodgood Ready of St. Augustine, Florida; two grandsons, Keith and Kyle Ready; two step grandchildren, Laura Vincent and Frank Ready of Austin, Texas; son, Bill Bloodgood and his wife, Erin; two grandchildren, KerriLynn and Kelly Bloodgood of Hillsborough, New Jersey; son, John Bloodgood and his wife Janet; his son, Jake; and two step grandchildren, Marissa and Joey Riembauer of Stewartsville, New Jersey.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 29, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home, with Rev. Emily B. Hall officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Cemetery of the Highlands in Highland Mills, next to his wife, Nancy and son, Jim.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Monroe-Lakeside Fire Rescue Company, 145 West Mombasha Road, Monroe, New York 10950 or Mombasha Fire Company, 526 Route 17M, Monroe, New York 10950.

SOKICH, GEORGE

George Sokich passed gently on August 13, 2008 while visiting his homeland of Croatia. George is survived by his beloved wife Neda, and was a devoted father to sons Kristen and wife Kristin, and Gordon and Steven Sokich. He was a cherished grandfather to Luke, Ava and Ella. A loving brother to Tom and wife Maria and Vlade and wife Neda, and two sisters Eva and Franka. Predeceased by his parents Mila and Duje Sokich and sister Mara. George was self-employed in business, with a successful landscaping company, George Sokich Inc., as well as a landlord for apartments he owned with his wife. George will always be remembered for his strong belief in God, smile, kind words and love for his family. He will be missed by many friends and loved ones. A Christian Memorial Mass will be held in his honor on Monday, September 1, 2008 at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart Church, Corner of Broadway and Ashford Avenue, Dobbs Ferry, NY.
