John J. Mazzola, Jr.
PLEASANT VALLEY - John J. Mazzola Jr., 73, formerly of Pleasant Valley and Peekskill, NY., passed suddenly on June 16th, 2008 in St. Petersburg, FL. John was born in Mt. Kisco, NY, to Mary Severino and John J. Mazzola Sr.. Mr. Mazzola was a Korean War veteran, a member of the Peekskill Elks, American Legion and V.F.W. He is survived by his wife Marie; daughter Eve D'Aleo; son-in-law Chris; grandson Doug and granddaughter Nicole of Amenia; four sisters, one brother, and several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by one sister. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11 am Friday, July 18th from St. Stanislaus Church in Pleasant Valley. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101 or Save Esopus Lighthouse Commission, P.O. Box 1290, Port Ewen, NY 12466. Arrangements have been entrusted to Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley.

Gloria Jean Morse
HUGHSONVILLE - Gloria Jean Morse, a lifelong resident of Hughsonville, entered into rest Sunday, July 13, 2008 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 74. Daughter of the late Francis W. and Helen Stalter Phillips, she was born on April 29, 1934 in Hughsonville. She married the love of her life, Jason Morse on July 4, 1954; Mr. Morse survives at home in Hughsonville. Mrs. Morse attended school at the one room schoolhouse in Hughsonville, which presently stands as the Hughsonville Firehouse. She went on to graduate from what is now the Wappingers Junior High in 1951. In 1953, Gloria was instrumental in the re-opening of Hughsonville Presbyterian Church and was the original temporary Clerk of Session; she served in that capacity many times over the next several years. She also was a member of the church's Ladies Aide Society, a Sunday school teacher and youth director. In 1978, Mrs. Morse began working as a court clerk for the Town of Wappinger Justice Court. From 19841990, she served as Dutchess County Representative to the New York State Court Clerk's Association; she was elected President of the Association in 1986. In 1988, she was appointed director of New York State Magistrates Court Clerk's Association; in 1990 she was elected as the Association's third Vice President. In 1989, she became the first appointed Marriage Officer in the Town of Wappinger. She won a nomination for New York State Court Clerk of the Year in 1990 and was also elected Town Justice that year; she remained Town Justice until 2000. In the November 2000 election, Gloria was elected Town of Wappinger Clerk; she officially retired from the Town on May 30, 2005. In addition to her husband, Jason, survivors include her children, Cheryl Hait of Hughsonville, Jason Robert Morse of Hughsonville, and Cathy Lyn Chee of North Carolina; her brother, Francis Phillips, Jr. of Illinois; sisters, Katherine Hartnett of Wappingers Falls and Shirley Joyce of Hughsonville; grandchildren, Jennifer Propfe and her husband, Chris, Jessica Moss and her husband, Matthew, and Danielle Morse; great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Alan and Donald; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sisters, Helen Palazzo and Ruth VanBuren, and her son-in-law, Donald Hait. Family will receive their friends on Thursday, July 17, 2008 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 18 at 10 a.m. at the Hughsonville Presbyterian Church with Rev. Gail Burger officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot in Wappingers Rural Cemetery. Anthony R. "Nonnie" Pagano
MARLBORO - Anthony R. "Nonnie" Pagano, 53, of Marlboro, died Saturday, July 12, 2008 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was a longtime area resident. Born in Newburgh on April 15, 1955, he was the son of the late Rosario Sam and Ida (Cervoni Pagano). Mr. Pagano married JoMaria Biengardo. He was a 30 year member of Laborers Local 79 in New York City. Survivors include his wife, JoMaria Biengardo Pagano; his daughter, Samantha M. Pagano of Marlboro; two sons, Anthony R. Pagano Jr. of Marlboro; Christopher J. Pagano of Marlboro; two sisters, Olivia Pagano of California; Sandra Larkin of Florida; his mother-in-law, Madeline Consorti Ladeuix; brother-in-law, Joseph Biengardo of Marlboro; and his brother-in-law, Vance Biengardo of Marlboro. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Michael Larkin; his father-in-law, Pierre Ladeuix; his sister-in-law, Anne Biengardo and his sister-in-law, Danielle Ladeuix. Nonnie was an ardent sports fan who loved the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. He was involved in local sports for many years. He was a beloved baseball and softball coach. He was Marlboro Youth Equipment Manager, mentor to many coaches for softball and C.Y.O., and coach for 2002 Eastern Regional Softball State Champs. Nonnie was the organizer of Marlboro Girls Fall Ball and coach for five years and St. Mary's Marlboro C.Y.O. Girls Basketball coach for five years. Calling hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, at the DiDonato Funeral Home, 1290 Route 9W, Marlboro. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home 12 noon, Thursday, with the Reverend M.X. Gnanadhas officiating. Cremation will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the Pagano Children Scholarship Fund, Samnida Way, Marlboro, NY 12542. Funeral arrangements by were entrusted to Carl J. DiDonato Jr. and Lawrence M. Cavazza of the DiDonato Funeral Service Inc.

Eleanor Ponsrock
YONKERS - Eleanor Ponsrock, of Yonkers, N.Y., peacefully died Sunday, July 13, 2008. She was 79 years old. Ellie was born on November 19, 1928 to Romolo & Louisa Constantino in Jersey City, N.J. She worked for the Yonkers Board of Education and with her husband for Econ-Trol. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Ponsrock who died June 28, 1999. Loving mother to daughter, Lenore Ciccone and husband, Brandon and son Joseph Ponsrock and wife, Cathy. Cherished grandmother to Tara Ciccone, Samantha Ponsrock, Brandon Ciccone Jr. and Catherine Ponsrock. Beloved sister to Antoinette La Riviere, Rose O'Brien and Romeo Constantino & sister-in-law Ethel. Also survived by many wonderful nieces & nephews & great nieces & great nephews. Friends may call Tuesday, 5-9 pm at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers N.Y. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, 10 am, at St. Bartholomew. Interment to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hastings-On- Hudson. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice Inc. of Poughkeepsie located at 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

Lawrence F. "Bub" Gruntler Sr.
HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Lawrence F. "Bub" Gruntler, Sr, 62, of Hopewell Junction, NY, died Friday, July 11, 2008 at the St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY. For many years, Lawrence was a diesel mechanic with Arnoff Moving & Storage in Poughkeepsie, NY. Larry was a member of Red Hook Post #7765, VFW, Red Hook, NY and the Harris Smith Post 524 American Legion, Tivoli, NY. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam, earning the rank of Sergeant. Born on January 2, 1946, in Rhinebeck, NY, he was the son of the late Gerald and Gertrude (Staggers) Gruntler. He is survived by a daughter: Annamarie Gruntler-Bussey and her husband Tyrone Bussey of Elizaville, NY, a son: Lawrence Gruntler, Jr., four sisters: Geraldine Gruntler of Georgia, Cecelia Coscio of Red Hook, NY, Karen Mauer of Arizona, and Hazel Paquette of Canada, four brothers: William Queen of Florida, David Queen of Rhinebeck, NY, Stuart Queen of Rhinecliff, NY, Richard Queen of Washington, and a granddaughter, Carly Bussey. He was predeceased by a brother, Montgomery Queen, and a sister, Emiline Queen. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, July 18th, 2008 at Burnett & White Funeral Homes, 7461 S. Broadway Red Hook, NY. The Reverend Fred C. Cartier will officiate. Interment will be private. John (Jack) Patrick Bray
STANFORDVILLE - Bronx Native - John "Jack" Patrick Bray, 93, of Stanfordville, entered into Heaven on July 14th, 2008 to be with his loving wife, Catherine. Born in the Bronx on September 7, 1914, he was the son of the late Norman and Sophie (Morrisey) Bray. Mr. Bray was a manager and one of the original employees hired by Associated Hospital Service, now known as Blue Cross, where he worked for 40 years. After retiring from this position and relocating to Stanfordville, he worked at the State Police Troop K Headquarters in building services. The most recent job that Mr. Bray held was as caretaker of the Sisters of Charity St. Mary's Residence in Stanfordville, a position he held for over 20 years.
On January 30, 1937, he married Catherine E. (Kelly) Bray, at the Church of the Holy Rosary in the Bronx. She predeceased him on December 13, 2002. Mr. Bray was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Bangall, a member and past President of the Forever Young Club, as well as a member of the Stanford Recreation Commission for many years. For the past two years, Mr. Bray resided at the Manor at Woodside, Poughkeepsie, where he enjoyed the companionship of many of the residents and staff there. A devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, John enjoyed sharing stories of his beloved Catherine "Kit" and listening to the music of Frank Sinatra. In addition to his brother, Thomas Bradbury of Somers, NY and his sister, Trudy Houlihan of VA, Mr. Bray is survived by his children, John J. Bray and his wife Ann of Stanfordville, Dennis R. Bray and his wife Nancy of Bethlehem, PA, Robert W. Bray and his wife Patricia of Poughkeepsie and Kathleen (Bray) Spiers and her husband Jeffrey of Stanfordville. Mr. Bray is also survived by his Grandchildren, Christine Wittreich, her husband Joseph and their children Joey and Shannon of North Hampton, PA, Kevin Bray of Alexandria, VA, Jodi Schillinger and her husband Steve of Springfield, VA, Kelly Bray of Arlington, VA, Matthew Bray and his wife Heather of Bethlehem, PA, Kimberly Henry, her husband Jerry and their children Emily and Jason of Stanfordville, Douglas Bray of Poughkeepsie, Shannon Hanaburgh, her husband Chris and their children Ella and Cadie of Poughkeepsie, Jennifer Lamping, her husband Richard and their son Richie of Highland, Sean Bray of Seattle, WA, Gregory Spiers of Brookline, MA and A.J. Spiers of Boston, MA. Calling hours are 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm on Thursday, July 17, at Peck & Peck Funeral Home, South Main St. Pine Plains, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Friday, July 18, at Immaculate Conception Church in Bangall, NY, with Fr. John L. Durkin officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Bangall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Astor Home for Children, 6339 Mill Street, Rhinebeck, NY 12572.

Charles Joseph Cunningham, Sr
Born: October 25, 1939
Died: August 17, 2015
U.S. Veteran - Charles Joseph Cunningham, Sr. died Monday, August 17, 2015 at Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, FL. He was 75 years old.
Chuck was born in Poughkeepsie, NY, on October 25, 1939. He was the son of George and Olive Gifford Cunningham. He was predeceased by his only sister, Sally Cunningham Cady, and is survived by his brother-in-law, Robert H. Cady, Sr. of Poughkeepsie.
Chuck graduated Poughkeepsie High School in 1958. He then joined the United States Marine Corps and served from 1958 to 1963. His squadron was the first operational Marine Corps unit to deploy to Vietnam in an operation dubbed "Shufly". Upon returning home, he worked for IBM from 1963 to 1994 as a Senior Engineer Manager for Data Center Operations in both East Fishkill and Poughkeepsie. From 1994 to 2013, he served as Executive Vice President for Harris Interactive, relocating to both Princeton, NJ and Tampa, FL.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 49 years, Janet Antalek Cunningham, Tampa, FL. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Charles Joseph Cunningham, Jr. and his wife, Robyn, Tampa, FL, and his two daughters, Sarah Apmann and her husband, Todd, Beacon, NY, and Beth Romano and her husband, Christopher, Tampa, FL. He is also survived by five beloved grandchildren and three generations of nieces and nephews.
Chuck was a lifelong NY Yankees, NY Giants and Notre Dame fan. He was also an avid golfer, having been a past member of TPC of Tampa and a current member of The Eagles Golf Club in Odessa, FL. His passion and love of sport is evident in the generations he leaves behind, with every one of his children and grandchildren.
The family will receive their friends on Friday, August 21, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM, with a service to be conducted at 8:30 PM at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 218 Mill Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601
Street level and wheelchair accessible entrance located off Vassar St.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family with Military Honors.
