Robert R. Knapp
Thursday, May 17, 2001
Robert R. Knapp, 69, of Lathrop Road, Gloversville, died Wednesday, May 16, at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam after a long illness.

He was born on March 24, 1932 in the town of Edinburg and was a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of Mayfield Central High School.

Mr. Knapp was a corporal in the Army during the Korean War and served from 1951 to 1953.

Mr. Knapp was a truck driver for Shepard Oil Co. Inc. of Johnstown and Coleco Industries Inc. of Mayfield. He retired in 1996.

He was of the Methodist faith and a member and trustee of the Gloversville Moose.

Mr. Knapp is survived by his wife, the former Della Gibson. They were married on April 26, 1955. Survivors include one son, investigator Reginald R. Knapp of Gloversville, of the Fulton County Sheriff's Department; one daughter, Michelle L. Palmatier of Amsterdam; four grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Royal and Elizabeth Cook Knapp; and one brother, Clifford Knapp.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at John W. Finocan Funeral Inc., 13 Prospect Ave., Gloversville, where a funeral service will immediately follow. Elder John Buchanan of Mayfield Center Community Church, will officiate. Cremation will be at Parkview Crematory, Schenectady. Interment will take place at Mayfield Cemetery. The family would like to invite friends to a reception at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Gloversville Moose.

Charles E. Miller

Mr. Charles E. Miller, 96, formerly of 409 S. Melcher St., Johnstown, passed away May 16 at Gloversville Residential Health Care Facility, where he had resided since April.

He was born in Gloversville, the son of George E. and Edna J. Crouse Miller. He was a 1921 graduate of Gloversville High School and was an alumnus of the former Phi Delta Sigma Fraternity. He attended the Wharton School of Business in Philadelphia and came to Johnstown in 1938. He was a partner with his father, and brother Fred C. Miller, in the operation of the Fred C. Miller Glove Co. in Gloversville from 1925 until his retirement in 1975.

Mr. Miller was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Gloversville, where he served as trustee. He was also a member of the Ida L. McGinnis Senior Citizens and the Eccentric Club.

He is survived by his daughter, Carol Whitlock of Washington, D.C.; three grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Miller was united in marriage to the former Kathryn Noone in 1938 and she passed away in 1967.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Ehle Funeral Home, 15 N. William St., Johnstown, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda. Memorial contributions may be made to the Getman Home, Gloversville.

John E. Dyer

John E. Dyer, 43, of the Stratford Lexington Home died Friday, May 18, 2001, in Little Falls Hospital of natural causes.

John was born in New York City on Aug. 14, 1957, the son of Benita Booker. John has been a resident of the Lexington Home in Stratford since 1992. He attended both the Stratford Methodist Church and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dolgeville. He especially enjoyed music and visiting with everyone. John's life was enriched by all of his friends and staff at the Lexington Home.

He is survived by two sisters, Adrienne Dyer and Regina Brown, both of Brooklyn; one brother, Henry Booker of Virginia; and his friends and staff at the Lexington Home.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Roberts-Buck Funeral Home, 3 Faville Ave., Dolgeville. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Dolgeville Cemetery.

Brian Johnson
Saturday, May 19, 2001
Brian "Bi" C. Johnson, 89, of North Port, Fla., who has a summer home in Broadalbin, died May 15 in Bon Secours-Venice Hospital, Venice, Fla.

He was born on March 10, 1912, in Buffalo. He was a veteran of the National Guard. He was an avid reader and he loved traveling and boating.

Before he retired, he was an architectural representative associated with the firms Heuber, Hares & Glavin and Sargeant, Webster, Cranshaw & Folley. He also worked for the state of New York.

He is survived by his wife, Doris (Trevett) Johnson of North Port, Fla.; five children; three stepchildren; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to North Port Rotary Scholarship Fund, PO Box 7557, North Port, FL 34287 would be appreciated.

Arrangements are by James A. McKee Funeral Home, North Port.

Henry Webster

Henry Leon Webster, 65, of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., died May 15 at Havasu Regional Medical Center.

He was born on Sept. 6, 1935, in Bolton Landing, N.Y. He battled polio as a child. He grew up in Warrensburg, N.Y. He had been a resident of Lake Havasu City for 27 years from Gloversville.

He was a veteran of Marine Corps.

He worked 13 years as a grocery produce manager in Johnstown, then five years in his own business. He moved to Lake Havasu City in 1974 and started the Webster Family restaurant, selling it in 1976. He pursued his interest in cooking at local restaurants until retiring in 1982. He also started Hava Medical Supply Co. with his wife, Betty. He worked as chef for Elks Lodge 2399 in Lake Havasu City.

He enjoyed hunting, archery, fishing and camping, and he was an avid billiards player.

Henry's son Bob has been working on a fund-raiser as a member of the Joints in Motion marathon team. Bob will run in memory of his father.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Betty Webster of Lake Havasu City; his sons, William Henry and wife Karen Webster of Bagdad, Ariz., and James Wesley and wife Kathy Webster of Vashon Island, Wash., and Robert Wayne and wife Robyn Webster of Camp Verde, Ariz. He is survived by his brothers, Wesley and wife Ann Webster of Newington, Conn., Delbert and wife Joan Webster of Stony Creek, N.Y., Conroy and wife, Grace Webster and Charles Webster of Warrensburg, N.Y.; his sisters, Sylvia and husband Henry Moffitt of Warrensburg, Nancy and husband Carl Belden of Bolton Landing, Martha and husband Elmer Kilburn of Gansvoort, Linda and husband Frank Bennet of Warrensburg, Debbie and husband, Melvin Stevens of Fort Anne; grandchildren, Clare, Cheyanne, Joshua, Alison, Rebekah, Emily, Anna, William, Nicholas, Krystall, Ryan, David and Sherry; great-grandchildren, Kiara, Dillon, Courtney and Brendon. He is also survived by two aunts, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, Marcus Earl and Pearl May "Denton" Webster; his brothers Douglas and Marlin; and his sister, Aletha Webster Fish.

A service will be held at 10 a.m. today at Lietz-Fraze Chapel, 21 Riviera Blvd., Lake Havasu City. The Rev. John Mackey will officiate. Burial will also take place today at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, c/o Bob Webster, PO Box 1002, Camp Verde, AZ 86322 or the American Diabetes Association.
