Charles E. House
Sunday, May 20, 2001
Charles E. House, 81, of East Fourth Avenue, Johnstown, died Saturday, May 19, at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a long illness.

Born Oct. 11, 1919, in Johnstown, he was the son of William and Emma Eagan House and attended Johnstown schools.

Mr. House worked as a textile dyer for 16 years at Tricot Fabrication, Dolgeville, retiring in 1980 due to illness.

He was of the Protestant faith.

On Nov. 16, 1968, he married the former Eileen Leroux, who survives in Johnstown.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, David House of Arizona, John House of Meco and Alan House of Amsterdam; two step-sons, Kevin Bradley of Fultonville and Robert Bradley Jr. of Fonda; one brother, William House of Johnstown; two sisters, Marilyn Devoe of Gloversville and Elizabeth Montanye of Johnstown; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Bernice House; a brother, Alton House; and a sister, Catherine Lampman.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Millard, pastor of the Johnstown Reformed Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or a charity of one's choice.

Gary Robinson

Gary F. Robinson, 46, of East State Street, Johnstown, N.Y., died Friday afternoon at the Albany Medical Center, Albany, N.Y., after being stricken at home. Born on Feb. 22, 1955, in Gloversville, N.Y., he was the son of Jesse H. and Clara Gordon Robinson. He was a graduate of Johnstown High School and received an associate's degree in physical education from FMCC.

Mr. Robinson was a lifelong area resident and he was employed as an iron worker for the Union Local 12 of Albany, N.Y,. at the time of his death. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Johnstown and Gloversville, Union Local 12 of Albany, N.Y. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed boating.

He is survived by his lifelong companion, Kathy Gargiulo of Johnstown; one brother, Jesse G. Robinson of Burnt Hills, N.Y.; one sister, Janice Barnwell of Johnstown; one niece, Heather Barnwell of Mt. Holly, N.J.; one nephew, Garrett Barnwell of Johnstown; one great-niece, Tamisha Barnwell of Johnstown; one uncle, Alexander Gordon of Catlett, Va.; four aunts, Dorothy Gordon of Stratford, Va., Uresula Robinson of Johnstown, Ruby Gordon of Ansonia, Conn., and Ruby Robinson of Fredericksburg, Va.., and many cousins.

The family will be receiving friends on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Ehle Funeral Home, 15 N. William St., Johnstown, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Sears, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Johnstown and Gloversville, officiating. Interment will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda, N.Y. Memorial contributions can be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Howard W. Fear
Monday, May 21, 2001
Mr. Howard W. Fear, 90, of Gloversville, died Sunday at his residence following a brief illness.

He was born on Aug. 1, 1910 in Gloversville, the son of the late Arthur and Ida Waring Fear. He was educated in Gloversville schools.

He was a glove cutter, working mostly for Clair Gloves in Gloversville, and retired in 1980.

He was a former member of the Elks Lodge. He was a hunting and fishing enthusiast. He also enjoyed friendly poker games with his many friends.

He is survived by one brother, Richard Fear of Pittstown, N.J.; nieces; nephews; and his longtime friend, Nancy Bennett of Johnstown. He was predeceased by his wife, Viane Anagnostopolus Fear, who died in 1987; and his son, Robert Fear, who died in 1957.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 147 Bleecker St., Gloversville. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. R.W. Williams will officiate. Burial will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice.

James R. Howe
Monday, May 21, 2001
Mr. James R. Howe, 54, of Route 137, Caroga Lake, died Sunday morning at home after a long illness.

He was born on Oct. 1, 1946 in St. Johnsville, the son of James J. and Bernice Balitore Howe. He lived most of his life in the St. Johnsville and Oppenheim area. He attended Oppenheim-Ephratah schools.

Mr. Howe was employed as a chef for the Little Falls Hospital and later for the Little Falls Country Club.

He was of the Roman Catholic faith.

He was married to the former Lori Petrie on May 15.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his mother, Bernice Balitore Howe of Oppenheim; two brothers, Dante Howe and Alan Howe, both of Oppenheim; several nephews; a niece; and cousins.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam. The funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. David Johnson will officiate. Cremation will take place at Vale Crematory in Schenectady.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the family, in care of the funeral home.

Florence M. O'Malley
Monday, May 14, 2001
Florence M. O'Malley died May 13, at her home on North Ballston Avenue in Scotia.

Ms. O'Malley was born on June 12, 1915 in Columbiaville, N.Y. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Anna Leace Elting. She was a graduate of Child's Hospital in Albany with a degree in child nursing.

For many years, she owned and operated the former Jiminy Cricket Nursery School in Scotia. Following her retirement, she was in the mortgage-lending business.

Ms. O'Malley was a volunteer driver for people in need and contributed to many charities.

Survivors include two daughters, Elaine E. Holmlund of Mayfield and Lynnann Madison of Lake Katrine, N.Y. She also has three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a nephew.

Ms. O'Malley was predeceased by a brother, Charles Elting of Hudson, N.Y., and her former husband, James B. O'Malley.

There will be no calling hours. A gathering in her memory will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at her home, 219 N. Ballston Ave., Scotia. Donations may be made to Community Hospice Foundation or St. Clare's Hospital. Arrangements are by Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Inc., Gloversville.
