TOSCANO, RICHARD

Richard Toscano, 64, a lifelong resident of Port Chester, passed away on Monday, Jan 26, 2009. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 30 at Corpus Christi Church, 136 So Regent St at 10:30AM followed by interment at St Mary's Cemetery, Rye Brook, NY.

WHITE, CAROLYN C.

Carolyn C. White, a Croton resident for the last 50 years, passed away on Tuesday at Bethel Nursing Center in Ossining. She was 93. Mrs. White was a retired Clerical Worker at Maryknoll in Ossining. She was born in Tarrytown on June 12, 1915 to Louis and Catherine Micek. On November 3, 1939 she married Robert F. White, in North Tarrytown. Mr. and Mrs. White were long time members of the Croton Yacht Club. He died in 1999. Carolyn is survived by her son, Mark White, her daughter, Marilyn Doolittle, a sister, Anne Taxter, and a grandson, Noah Behar. Besides her husband, she is also predeceased by a daughter, Roberta, in 1979. There will be a Funeral Service on Saturday at 12Noon at EDWARD F. CARTER FUNERAL HOME, 41 Grand St. Croton-on-Hudson, where friends may call on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9.

BROWN, MARGARET MARY SULLIVAN

Margaret Mary Sullivan Brown, 53, passed away in her home, on Saturday, December 20, 2008. Margaret was raised in West Nyack, NY and was proud of her nursing degree. She served as a registered nurse for many years in hospitals across the country, most recently in South Florida and Seattle. She loved to travel and was happiest planning family excursions. A favorite spot was her family homeplace on the beautiful Beara Peninsula in Ireland. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Timothy Christopher Sullivan and Mary Christina Badger Sullivan of both New York, both born in Ireland. She is survived by her devoted husband Fred Lee Brown Jr. and daughter, Moira Anne Velez, by her brothers, Denis Sullivan and his wife Cathy of Melbourne, FL and Timothy Sullivan and his wife Chris of Bloomingburg, NY, by her sisters, Marion Haggarty and husband John of Valley Cottage, NY, Anne Kardian and her husband Steve of Thiells, NY, and by many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved completely with a great heart. Friends may call Tuesday (today) from 6 to 9 pm at the "Family Owned” Joseph W. Sorce F.H. Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, December 26, 2008 at 11:00 am in St. Paul's Catholic Church, 82 Lake Rd. West, Congers, NY. Interment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Congers, NY. CAFFREY, PETER J.

Peter J. Caffrey, 78, of Milford, PA, formerly of New City, NY, passed away quietly on December 20, 2008. Born February 12, 1930, the son of the late Peter and Mary (Codyre) Caffrey, Peter lived in the Bronx until 1965 when he and his wife, Marie, moved to Rockland County where they raised their family. An Army veteran, Peter was an alumnus of St. Francis College in Loretto, PA, and received a master's degree from St. John's University. He began his career at CUNY as a Professor of English and Speech at Bronx Community College and later at New York City Technical College. It was there, in 1969, that he was appointed Dean of the College, and then briefly served as Acting President in 1971 and again in 1977. However, classroom teaching was always his first love. He retired from teaching, but not from life, in 1991. Peter and his wife moved to Milford in 2000. As an active member of St. Vincent de Paul parish, Peter served as a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Parish Pastoral Council, and sang in the choir. He delivered meals for the Pike County Area Agency on Aging, and taught defensive driving through the AARP. In addition to his loving wife of 46 years, Peter is survived by seven children: Mary Caffrey-Kesterson of Broadlands, VA; Margie Marble (Tom) of Macedon, NY; Kathleen Ulrich (Pat) of Vermilion, Alberta, Canada; Peter Caffrey of Minneapolis, MN; Peggy Neil (Paul) of Spring Valley, NY; Teresa Myers (Dave) of Port Jefferson Station, NY; and Elizabeth Grassi (Mike) of Barrington, NH. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren: Thomas and Elizabeth Marble; Matthew and John Kesterson; Anna, Sean and Mary Ulrich; Emma, Kate, and Delia Neil; Luke and Bridget Myers; and Joseph Grassi. He was predeceased by three infant sons, John, Joseph, and Jude. The family will receive friends at the Stroyan Funeral Home, Milford, PA on Friday, December 26 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on December 27, 2008, at St. Vincent De Paul Church, with Rev. Paul Mullen officiating. Burial will follow at Brick Church Cemetery, Spring Valley, NY. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the St. Vincent de Paul Sharing Fund or to the charity of your choice.

KENNY, DANIEL

Daniel Patrick Kenny of Stuart, FL, formerly of Congers, NY, died suddenly on January 26, 2009 at age 72. Devoted husband to the late Ann (O'Hagan) Kenny (2005), proud father of Daniel Kenny (Maugha) of Glen Rock, NJ, George Kenny (Jacqueline) of Summit, NJ, Nancy Mulligan (Mark) of Roslindale, MA and Brian Kenny (Kellie) of Califon, NJ, and loving "Pop Pop" to nine grandchildren; Kaleigh, Bryn, Isabelle, Hayden, Quinn, Finn, Niamh, Maeve and Owen. Born in New York City in 1936, Dan graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School (1953) and Fordham University (1958). He began his professional career in public accounting at Arthur Young & Company and went on to hold senior corporate tax positions at NL Industries and American Standard Company. He was an active member in the parish communities of St. Paul's Church in Congers, NY and St. Joseph's Church in Stuart, FL. Dan was a man of many interests; an avid tennis player, golfer, voracious reader, world traveler to name a few. He was a great storyteller and enjoyed sharing his interests and life experiences with all. Dan led a life dedicated to his family and friends and will be deeply missed by the many people whose lives he touched. Visiting hours at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, 113 Lake Road, Congers, NY are on Friday, January 30, 2009 from 2 PM-4 PM and 7 PM-9 PM. The Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 AM on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at St. Paul's Church, 82 Lake Road, Congers, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the charity of your choice.

LAUTH, BEATRICE F.

Beatrice F. Lauth a resident of Port Chester died January 27, 2009. She was 78 and was born January 24, 1931 to the late George and Alice Greene Vaughn. She was raised and educated in the Bronx. She was married to the late Charles Lauth. Mr. Lauth died June 7, 2004. She was a retired telephone operator for New York Telephone. Mrs. Lauth was a parishioner of the Our Lady of Mercy Church in Port Chester. She is survived by her sons Kevin Lauth of Port Chester, Edward Lauth of New York City and Charles Lauth of Binghamton, NY., daughters Lorraine Rock of Staten Island, NY and Janet Leahy of Seattle, WA. brothers Lawrence Vaughn of North Andover, MA. and Walter Vaughn of New Jersey, sisters Viola Morrissey of Scottsdale, AZ. and Mary Vaughnod of Ann Arbor, MI. and 10 grandchildren. Visitation will be 4-8PM today January 29, 2009 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10AM on Friday January 30, 2009 at Our Lady of Mercy Church 260 Westchester Ave.. TANNONE, VETA M.

Veta M. Tannone of Port Chester died on January 28, 2009. Mrs. Tannone was born August 28, 1914 in Port Chester to Nicola and Francesca Giorgia Penebre. Survived by daughters Tina Laverty, husband William, Patricia Sorce, and her sister Lucy Bello, three granddaughters, five great-grandchildren. Pre-deceased by husband Anthony Tannone, sisters Mildred Zamfino and Rose Losito, brothers, Angelo, Anthony and Peter Penebre. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements being handled by the Joseph Tutera Funeral Home. No calling hours. Mass on Friday January 30, 2009 at Corpus Christi Church 9AM. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery Rye Brook.
