Wilma J. Wente, age 76, S. Ridge East, Ashtabula Twp., died Sunday afternoon at her residence following an extended illness. For the past 45 years, Mrs. Wente was involved in several bowling leagues holding various offices, she was an avid bingo player, enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards and doing crafts. She was co-owner of F & J CB Sales & Service with her husband Frank.
Survivors include two children, Kathleen A. (Phil) Bliss and Randy L. Wente, both of Ashtabula, four grandchildren, Phil Bliss, Jr., Michael Bliss, Stephanie Sherry & Adam Bliss, six great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Hunter, Brandon, Julia, Keagan & Bailey and a sister, Ruth Cartner of N. Kingsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank in 2005, her first husband, Richard Cartner in 1958 and a sister, Maxine Offenberg in 1999.
At Mrs. Wente request, no services or calling hours will be observed. A private memorial gathering will be held at a later date at the family’s convenience. The Jefferson Home of the Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, is handling arrangements.
Memorial offerings may be directed to the family, in c/o Kathleen Bliss, 1601 Carterland Dr., Ashtabula, OH 44004.

Betty J. Gehalo
December 10, 1922 - February 6, 2009
Services: February 14th, 2009 at 4:00 PM
Betty J. Gehalo, 86 of Cherry Lane, Ashtabula died Friday (Feb. 6th) at the Kemper House in Olmstead Falls, Ohio after a long illness. She was born December 10, 1922 in Ashtabula the daughter of Edwin and Lara (Bagnall) Wegmiller.
She was a long time and active member of the First United Methodist Church of Ashtabula. She was an also a long time member of the Pinochle Club of Ashtabula. She enjoyed baking, canning, knitting and spending time with her family.
She is survived by four sons, Steven (Shirley) Gehalo, Jr. of Coral Springs, Florida, David (Jane) Gehalo of Telephone, Texas, William (Kathleen) Gehalo of Olmstead Falls, Ohio and Thomas (Donna0 Gehalo of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; six grandchildren, Steven III, Suzanne, Brian, Allison, T.J. and Austin; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Steven, Sr. in 2006; two brothers, Raymond and Paul Wegmiller and a sister, Viola Natchuk.
Funeral services will be Saturday (Feb. 14th) at 4:00 PM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman funeral Directors, 526 West Prospect Rd. Ashtabula with Rev. Barbara Roseberry of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.
Calling hour will be Saturday from 3:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

James Brown Jr.

Services: February 11th, 2009 at 1:00 PM
James Brown, Jr. 78 of West 52nd St., Ashtabula died Wednesday (Feb. 4th) at the Carrington Park Nursing Home in Ashtabula. He was born February 20, 1930 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas the son of James and Beatrice (Pasehall) Brown, Sr.
He had worked as Supervisor for the Ohio Department of Transportation until his retirement. He enjoyed yard wok and helping others.
Surviving him seven children, Sandy Coleman of Ashtabula, Latoya Brown of Painesville, Robert (Jackie) Gaston of Ashtabula, Ricky Smith of Ashtabula, Stanley Smith of Ashtabula, Darin (Stephanie) Smith of Cleveland and Randy Brown of Ashtabula; seventeen grandchildren; six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ida Brown in 2006; twin sons, Jerry and Terry Brown; four sisters, Ersell Brown, Susie Steele, Mittie Brown, Marie Brown and two brothers, Benjamin and Harold Brown.
Funeral service will be Wednesday (Feb. 11th) at 1:00 PM at the Peoples Baptist Church, 3937 West Ave. Ashtabula with Pastor John Salters of the Cleveland Ave. G.O. Ministries Church officiating. Burial will be in Ridgeview Cemetery in Ashtabula.
Calling hour will be Wednesday from 12:00 PM until the time of service at the church. Contributions can be made to the family. The Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 526 West Prospect Rd. Ashtabula is in charge of arrangements.

Ruth C. McNally
August 15, 1932 - February 1, 2009
Services: February 6th, 2009 at 10:30 AM
Ruth C. McNally, SFO, age 76, S. Ridge E., Ashtabula, died Sunday morning at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born August 15, 1932 in El Paso, TX, the daughter of Ralph & Marian (Raymond) Campbell and has been a resident of Ashtabula Co. since 1972, coming from Columbus. She was married to Thomas M. McNally, I, on January 19, 1952 in Tucson, AZ. Mrs. McNally was a retired employee of the General Electric Corp.
She was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church and the Secular Franciscan Order. She enjoyed bingo, scrabble, playing games and being involved will all family activities.
Survivors include seven children, Msgt. Retired Thomas M. (Lisa) McNally, II of Apache Junction, AZ, Paul E. (Chris) McNally of Ashtabula, Constance A. (Harry) Smith of Sheffield Twp., Pamela D. (Steven Kunselman) McNally & Susan B. (Edward) Melaragno, both of N. Kingsville, John J. (Shannon) McNally, II of Uniontown & Mary T. (Scott) Ott of Ashtabula, 23 grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild, five sisters, Patricia Mauler of Tucson, AZ, Shirley Mauler of Mesa, AZ, Lynn Stockbridge of Oro Valley, AZ, Sharon Coombs of Texas & Catherine Hall of Portland, OR, two half-sisters, Betty Marie Campbell & Norma Jean Campbell, both of Arizona & two half-brothers, Ralph E. Campbell of South Carolina & David K. Campbell of Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Thomas in 1993, a son, James Patrick McNally & a granddaughter, Mary Catherine Smith.
The funeral mass will be held Friday at 10:30 A. M. at St. Andrews Catholic Church, 3700 St. Rt. 193, Sheffield Twp. with the Rev. Fr. Stephen Wassie officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 5-8 P. M. at the Jefferson Home of the Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, OH 44004.

Albert S. Hathy (1 of 2)
VENICE, FL - Albert S. Hathy, 79, of Venice, FL, formerly of Ashtabula, died November 30, 2002, at Bon Secours-Venice Hospital, Venice, FL.
He was born on April 12, 1923 in Ashtabula, the son of Eugene and Mary (Warga) Hathy. He had been a resident of Ashtabula most of his life but has wintered in Venice, FL for the past 20 years.
Mr. Hathy was a 1941 graduate of Edgewood High School. He served in the 247th Army Air Force during World War II.
He was a Past Master of Rising Sun Lodge #22 F & M, and also a member of the Second Congregational Church in Ashtabula.
Retiring in 1982 from Reliance Electric Co. in Ashtabula, he was a supervisor of inspection. He enjoyed sports, cards, electronics, and computers.
Surviving him is his wife, Beth, and a daughter, Janice of Venice, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Esterhay Storch; and a brother, Eugene.
A Memorial Service will be 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2003, at the Second Congregational Church, 319 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula, with Reverend Glen Warner officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Second Congregational Church.
The ROSS-BILLMAN FUNERAL HOME, 526 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula is in charge of local arrangements.

Albert S. Hathy (2 of 2)
ASHTABULA - Albert S. Hathy, 79, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at Bon Secours-Venice Hospital. Born April 12, 1923 in Ashtabula, he was the son of Eugene and Mary (Warga) Hathy.

Gregory Lyle Root
CHANDLER, AZ - Gregory Lyle Root, 40, of Chandler, AZ, died Wednesday, November 5, 2003, at his home.
Born on August 9, 1963 in Ashtabula, the son of Norma and Don Root.
He was a graduate of Ashtabula High School, class of 1981, and also a 1983 graduate of Kent State University in Computer Programming.
Mr. Root was employed by Fuji Film Coloring Processing, INC. in Phoenix, AZ, as a Purchasing Agent.
He was an avid sports fan.
Survivors include two sons, Benjamin Joseph (12 1/2), and Kyle Phillip (10); his parents, Norma and Don Root; two brothers, Matthew Root (Phyllis) of Temecula, CA, and Kevin Root (Kelly) of Phoenix, AZ; a sister, Sandra (Charles) Young of Phoenix, AZ; three nephews; and one niece.
Services were held 11 a.m. on November 7, 2003, at CARR-TENNEY FUNERAL HOME in Tempe, AZ, with Reverend John Hanley, of Holy Spirit Church, officiating. Burial Service was at St. Francis Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ.
