Virginia DePlacido
CONNEAUT - Virginia DePlacido, 77, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at the Villa at the Lake in Conneaut.
She was born Oct. 19, 1924, in Conneaut, the daughter of Carmen and Angeline (Corrado) DePlacido and has been a lifelong area resident.
A graduate of Conneaut High School, she was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Ashtabula.
Miss DePlacido enjoyed baking, traveling, homemaking and her family.
Survivors include three sisters, Delight Smoot of Kerryville, Texas, Rose Stout of Upland, Calif., and Racheal Rich of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph DePlacido; two sisters, Margaret Kolosai, and Mary Lewis; and her parents.
A private family service will be held Saturday at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula. The Rev. Raymond Thomas, pastor of St. Frances Cabrini and St. Mary's Churches in Conneaut, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Ashtabula County.

Betty L. Colucci
ORANGE, Calif. - Betty Louise Colucci, 78, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001.
She was born June 1, 1923, the daughter of Philip and Anna Prisco. She was the only daughter, with four brothers, Henry, Philip, Robert and David.
In her teen years, she studied voice and piano. She was a lyric soprano and had her own weekly 15-minute radio show on Ashtabula's WICA. When she was 13, she graduated and received "Superior" ratings.
After graduating from Ashtabula High School, she graduated from nursing school. She joined the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps Reserve, serving in veteran's hospital in Philadelphia, Pa. After that, she worked in industrial nursing for many years at General Motors, and was active in the American Nurses Association.
She was an active member of the Order Sons of Italy in America and held many positions in that organization.
Survivors include her daughter, Beth and grandson Tommy of Chico, Calif.; and granddaughters Maggie and Sophie.
She was preceded in death by her son Steve.
Service was Thursday at St. Norbert Catholic Church, Orange, Calif.

Risto J. Kantola
CONNEAUT - Risto Jacob "King" Kantola, 98, of East Main Road, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, at his home.
He was born April 8, 1903, in Laihia, Finland, the son of Jacob and Sanna (Hakko) Kantola.
His family came to Conneaut in 1906, where he worked construction before joining the Pittsburgh and Conneaut Dock Co. in 1923, retiring as a Hulett operator in 1968.
He served with the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.
He married the former Sylvia Jarvi on July 16, 1926.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 472, Conneaut Chapter 76 of Royal Arch Masons, Conneaut Council 40 Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite and Evergreen Lodge 222 Free and Accepted Masons.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, raising flowers, spending time with his family and meeting friends at Roy's Restaurant.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Forsty of Conneaut; seven grandchildren, Julie Teed, Charla Forsty, Kevin Peck, Debra Redmond, Rebecca Hills and James R. Kantola Jr.; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, in 1993; two sons, Howard, in childhood, and James, in 1998; two brothers, Alex and John; and a sister, Sarah.
Service is 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with the Rev. Clyde A. McGee of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in East Conneaut Cemetery.
Calling hour is from noon until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be held at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Conneaut Rescue Squad. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Mark P. Dalrymple
CONNEAUT - Mark P. Dalrymple, 19, died Thursday, June 7, 2001, at his home of cancer.
He was born June 26, 1981, in Conneaut, the son of Glen V. Dalrymple and Julie A. Braden.
A 1999 graduate of Edgewood High School, he was a student at Ashtabula's Kent State University campus, where he majored in computer science.
He worked part-time at J.D.'s Pizza, the Red Lobster and ABC Lanes, Ashtabula. He enjoyed roller hockey, bowling, golfing and helping his father restore a 1959 Volkswagen.
Survivors include his mother, of Conneaut Lake, Pa.; his father and his stepmother, Nancy of Conneaut; a sister, Lindsy Dalrymple of Conneaut; a brother, Nicholas of Sheffield Township; maternal grandparents, Leon and Sylvia Braden of Columbus, Ga.; paternal grandparents, Elizabeth Dalrymple of Conneaut and Lewis and Kathleen Dalrymple of Tempe, Ariz.; maternal great-grandmother Helen Braden of Linesville, Pa.; maternal great-grandparents William and Doris Thompson of Columbus, Ga., and special friend Kristen Kelly of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandfather, Leon Braden; and paternal great-grandparents Glen and Bernice Dalrymple.
Service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Marcy Funeral Home, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut. The Rev. Ed Huntley of the Federated Church of East Springfield, Pa., will officiate. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery, Ashtabula Township.
Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m today the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Helen A. Kimmey
CONNEAUT - Helen A. Kimmey, 80, of Conneaut, died Thursday, June 7, 2001, at UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital, Conneaut.
She was born Sept. 19, 1912, in Coudersport, Pa., the daughter of John P. and Norine (Lovell) Adams.
She was a 1939 Port Allegany High graduate and graduated from Erie Commercial College in 1941 with a degree in secretarial skills.
She was employed as an inspector at the former Astatic Corp. until her retirement in 1968. She also was a nurse's aide, taking care of new mothers and a former Grey Lady at Brown Memorial. She was a former member of the Women of the Moose and the Eagle's Auxiliary. She also was a member of the Grange and enjoyed traveling with the Grange tour group.
Mrs. Kimmey was a member of Lakeview United Methodist Church and was active throughout the community as a volunteer.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Service will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the Raisian Funeral Home, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut, with the Rev. Raymond Thomas of St. Mary and St. Frances Cabrini officiating.
Mrs. Kimmey donated her body to the Case Western Reserve School of Medicine. Burial will take place at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany, Pa.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Station Three Rescue Squad. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Summer Lynn Plutt
CONNEAUT - Summer Lynn Putt, two-and-one-half months old, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at her home.
Born Jan. 14, 2001, in Ashtabula, she was a daughter of Virginia A. Putt.
Survivors include her mother; her maternal grandmother, Tina VanBoxel of Conneaut; two nieces, Christina Hippely of Arizona and Sarah Emerick of Conneaut.
She was preceded in death by one nephew, Alvin Emerick in 1987.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Evergreen Cemetery, Geneva. The Rev. William Offut of the First Baptist Church and Study of Jefferson will officiate.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
No calling hours will be observed.
Contributions may be made to the family.
Envelopes will be available at the Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva and at the gravesite.
The Donald E. Walker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Richard L. Taylor Sr.
CONNEAUT - Richard L. Taylor Sr., 60, of Conneaut, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, at his home following a long illness.
Born Oct. 26, 1939, in Franklin, Pa., he was the son of Carl A. and Thelma (McClelland) Taylor. He moved to Conneaut in 1982 from Franklin.
He married Donna P. Moon on Oct. 6, 1962, in Franklin.
After retiring from the U.S. Air Force, he was employed with North East Communications as an electronic technician.
He was an avid reader and enjoyed researching genealogy and working on his computer.
Survivors include his wife of Conneaut; one son, Richard, Jr., of Portland, Maine; two daughters, Wendy and Pollyanna of Conneaut; one sister, Geraldine Bean of Franklin; and two brothers, Paul of Franklin, and Gary of Buffalo, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Betty Boyles.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral or calling hours.
Burial of ashes will be at the convenience of the family.
The Marcy Funeral Home, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, is in charge of arrangements.
Contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
