Kenneth G. Christie
POLK CITY, Fla. - Kenneth G. Christie Sr., 77, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at Veteran's Hospital in Tampa, Fla. He had been a Polk City resident for 15 years moving from Thompson.
He was born Feb. 15, 1924, in Gary, Ind.
Mr. Christie was a 1941 graduate of Meadville High School in Pennsylvania. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II.
He married Marcella (Fryer) Christie on Nov. 19, 1977, in Thompson.
Mr. Christie was a journeyman electrician.
He was a member of the North Madison Legion Post 601 for 56 years. He enjoyed making children's toy and furniture and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Donna Ramey of Jessup, Ga., Janice Mansfield of Thompson, Judy Evans of South Carolina, Jacque Morgan of Madison, and Linda Vargyas of Perry; three sons, Kenneth Christie Jr., Patrick Christie and James Bliss, all of Madison; 17 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Behm Family Funeral Homes, 26 River St., Madison. Burial will be in Madison Memorial Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation, 24100 Chagrin Boulevard No. 125, Cleveland, Ohio 44122.

James J. Burt
AUSTINTOWN - James J. Burt, 56, died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, in New Jersey, from a gunshot wound incurred while on the job.
Mr. Burt was born July 17, 1944, in Andover, the son of James O. and Alice (Federins) Burt.
He married Carole Bender on June 19, 1981.
Mr. Burt graduated from Pymatuning High School in 1963 and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a truck driver for Boncosky Trucking.
Survivors include his wife; his mother of Brookfield; two daughters, Kim Burnes and Deena Barnes of Texas; three stepchildren, Brian Zegelnieks of Utah, Kimberly Zegelnieks of Virginia, and Lori Zegelnieks of Ohio; two sisters, GeorgAnn DiMailo of Ohio and Linda Hall of Nevada; and a granddaughter.
Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, 949 Ohio Ave., McDonald.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Evelyn "Evie" Peterson
BRADENTON, Fla. - Evelyn "Evie" Peterson, 94, of Bradenton, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, in Bradenton.
She was born Aug. 18, 1906, in Chardon, the daughter of Claude and Mabel (Kellogge) White. A homemaker, she moved to Florida from Burton in 1974.
Survivors include a son, Richard Wells of Bradenton; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Leona Anderson.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Chardon Municipal Cemetery, Park Avenue, Chardon. Ervin Miller, pastor, will officiate.
The Russell Golden Rule Funeral Service, Middlefield, is in charge of arrangements.

Violet Grden
CONCORD TWP. - Violet Grden, 86, of Concord Twp. since 1998, formerly of New Kensington and Lower Burrell, Pa from 1917-1998. Mrs. Grden died Saturday July 26, 2003 at her son's residence. Born January 28, 1917 in New Kensington, Pa.
Mrs. Grden worked for the Burrell School District in Lower Burrell, Pa. for 17 years retiring in 1994. Prior to that she worked for W.T. Grants in Lower Burrell and was a plastic cutter for PPG Industries in Creighton, Pa., from 1944 - 1957. She graduated from Kensington High School in 1936. She was a member of the Polish Women's Alliance, The Alliance of Poles of America, was active with the scholarship program of Polish Lancers Club in New Kensington, Pa. St. Mary of Czestochowa Church in New Kensington and the Catholic Community of St. Gabriel in Concord Twp.
She enjoyed children, cooking, gardening, sewing, watching birds at the feeder and sports. She became an Indians fan, enjoying many games on television. Her favorite football player was Terry Bradshaw of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Her bakery was enjoyed by friends and family, she also loved to wear hats, her collection goes back several decades. In her later years her favorite activities included shopping, attending church, which would be followed by a trip to the ice cream store. Pepsi was her favorite drink and watching re-runs of Jerry Sienfeld (The Crazy Guys).
Survivors include her daughter: Barbara J. (Thomas) Box of Joplin, MO.; son Robert (Betsy) Grden of Concord Twp.; grandchildren Anne Louise Box of San Diego, Ca., Valerie M. Box of Joplin, MO., and Thomas M. (Jenna) Box II of Cypress, TX.; great grandchildren Dominic X. Box of Joplin, MO., Kitty J. Box of Joplin, MO., and Thomas M. Box III of Cypress, TX.; Friend and companion Karen Harrell of Geneva; sister Jennie Pasanac of Springdale, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph whom she married in 1937. Parents Peter and Anna Matwiejew; sisters Rose A., Elizabeth and Stephanie; brother Stanley "Beans Matway" Matwiejew.
Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9925 Johhnycake Ridge Rd., Concord Twp. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at BRUNNER FUNERAL HOME - CREMATION SERVICE, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Lower Burrell, Pa.

Rev. Sylvester P. Kaminski
ROAMING SHORES - Reverend Sylvester P. Kaminski, 76, Evening Star Drive, died at 8:20 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2003 at the Community Skilled Nursing Home, Warren following an extended illness. He was born in Sharpsburg, PA on June 8, 1927 to Zygmunt and Marianna (Radowicz) Kaminski.
He attended St. John Cantius School and North Catholic High School both in Pittsburgh and studied for the priesthood at St. Mary College, St. Mary, KY, and St. Mary Seminary, Cleveland. He was ordained on Dec. 19, 1953 by Bishop Emmet Walsh in St. Columba Cathedral, Youngstown. Following ordination, Father Kaminski was named assistant pastor of Canton St. Mary's Immaculate Conception (1954-60), Canton St. Paul (1960-65), Warren St. Mary (1965-67), and Ashtabula Our Lady of Mount Carmel (1967-68) parishes. He was named pastor of Rock Creek Sacred Heart Parish in 1968, where he served until 1985, while continuing his Newman apostolate at Kent State Univ. Ext. in Ashtabula. He served as pastor of Kingsville St. Andrew (1986-86) and directed pastoral care at Glenbeigh Hospital in Rock Creek from late 1986 before being named associate pastor at Niles St. Stephen in July 1989. He became pastor of Youngstown St. Casimir in August, 1991. While holding other posts, Father Kaminski taught at Canton Central Catholic and Warren John F. Kennedy high schools. He retired in 2003. He was a Chaplain for the U.S. Coast Guard and a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed boating, flower gardening and traveling especially to Mexico.
He is survived by two brothers, Al (Barbara) Kaminski of Lower Burrell, PA, and Myron Kaminski of Sharpsburg, PA, a sister, Regina Kaminski of Sharpsburg, PA. He was preceded in death by a sister, Cecelia Kaminski.
Calling hours will be at Rock Creek Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday, July 19th from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Calling hours will be at the HOLETON-YUHASZ FUNERAL HOME, Niles on Tuesday, July 19th from 5 to 7 p.m. Calling hours will be at Youngstown St. Casimir Church on Wednesday, July 30th from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Retired Auxiliary Bishop of Youngstown Benedict Franzetta as the Celebrant. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.

Charles D. McGirr
CLEVELAND - Charles D. McGirr, Sr., 69, a resident of Richmond Township, died Friday, July 25, 2003 at Louis Stokes VA Medical Center, Cleveland.
Born January 31, 1934 in Cutler, OH to Roy and Malden (Young) McGirr, Sr.
A long time Richmond Township resident, Mr. McGirr was a 1952 Dorset High School graduate. Following graduation, he served in the United States Marine Corps. He was employed by the General Electric Plant in Jefferson for 28 years, retiring in 1984. Mr. McGirr was a member of Percy D. Hyatt Post #226 American Legion, Andover fro 34 years, serving as post commander for over 20 years. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, golfing, playing cards, and he enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
Mr. McGirr married Barbara Maxine (Flack) on November 21, 1953. Preceding him in death are his farther; grandson, Cody McGirr, and brother, Roy McGirr, Jr.
Survivors include; wife, Barbara Maxine McGirr, of Richmond Township; two sons, Charles D. McGirr, Jr. of Jefferson, and Brian L. McGirr of Dorset; three daughters, April D. Dietrich of Conneaut, Shauna M. Peairs of Andover, and Melissa K. Peterson also of Andover; mother Maldan (Young) McGirr of Ashtabula; three sisters, Jane Reeves of Georgia, Mary Coy of Ashtabula, and Mona Hammond of Sandusky, 15 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at BAUMGARDNER FUNERAL HOME, 134 Prospect St., Andover, Ohio, with Rev. Julie Hanneman officiating. Burial will follow in Padanaram Cemetery in Richmond Township, Ohio. Calling hours will be on Monday, July 28th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be mad to the family.

William Russell Alexander
MONTANA - William Russell Alexander, 80, of Polson, MT, went to be with the Lord on May 22, 2003. He passed away on May 22, 2003 at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Nola, his parents, 1 son, Thomas Earl Alexander and a grandson, Ryan Alexander.
He is survived by his 2 sons and their wives: Russell Alexander of Williamson, N.Y. and Dale Alexander of Polson, MT.; 9 grandchildren and a great grand-daughter.
Friends may call and visit with the family at the visitation on Wednesday, May 28th from 5p.m. to 8p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 29 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Polson with Rev. Rudy Ringhoff officiating. Military honors will be held at the church and a reception will follow. Graveside services also with military honors will be held at 3:00p.m. Thursday at the Murray Memorial Cemetery, Lonepine, MT.
Memorial gifts are suggested to the First Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
Arrangements are by Grogan Funeral Home, Polson.

Mary A. Wintz
DENMARK TOWNSHIP - Mary A. Wintz, 63, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at her Netcher Road residence three years after being diagnosed with cancer.
She was born July 5, 1938, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Floyd Wallace and Aune (Merilla) Anthony. A lifelong resident of Jefferson, Mrs. Wintz was a 1957 graduate of Jefferson High School and worked for eight years at the Ashtabula County Farm Bureau.
She married Richard Wintz Oct. 21, 1961, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Jefferson. She retired last year from the Jefferson Area Local School System after 19 years of service.
Mrs. Wintz was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she was active with L.Y.O., the Lutheran Women of the Church, the Piecemaker's Group, and taught Sunday school. She volunteered with the Manna Food Pantry and loved to bake for people, do jigsaw puzzles, sew, do gardening, and always loved doing for others and loving her family.
Survivors include her husband, Richard; one daughter, Pamela C. Wirtz of Ravenna; one son, Mark P. Wirtz of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and a brother, James A. Anthony of Jefferson.
Mrs. Wirtz was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Betty Jane Anthony.
Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 89 E. Satin St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Fred A. Grimm officiating.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens. The Fleming Funeral Home Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, is handling arrangements.
No calling hours will be observed. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Paul's W.E.L.C.A. (Women's Group), 89 E. Satin St., Jefferson, 44047; or to Hospice of Ashtabula County, 2420 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, 44004. Envelopes will be available at the church.
