Schill, Sr.; loving mother of Frank P., Jr. and Sandra Taft (James) ; dear grandmother of Stephanie Lark (Steve) and Brian, Christopher and Scott Taft; dear sister of Annie Paitz (Franz) . passed away Saturday, February 2, 2002 at home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be forwarded to Holy Family Catholic Church, 7367 York Road, Parma, 44129. Jason K. Meiners
June 12, 1973 - February 03, 2001

on Lake – Captain Jason K. Meiners, 27 of Havelock, NC, formerly of Avon Lake, passed away, Saturday, February 3, at the Cherry Point Marine Corp Air Station following injuries he sustained in an aircraft accident. Captain Meiners was born, June 12, 1973 in Kansas City, MO and had lived in Havelock NC for the past year.
He was a 1991 Graduate of Avon Lake High School, where he was president of the Junior Class, Editor-in-Chief of the Yearbook, captain of the Soccer and Basketball teams, member and State Qualifier of the Track Team, and received the Kights of Columbus Athletic Award. In 1998, Captain Meiners was elected to the Avon Lake High School Sports Hall of Fame. Other High School achievements include being elected to Student Council, member of the Varsity Club, National Honor Society, Math-Science Club and Buckeye Boys State.
In 1996 Captain Meiners graduated with honors from the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD where he, as a First Class Midshipman commanded the 3rd Company. After Graduation Captain Meiners was awarded the Marine Corp Burke Scholarship for his outstanding academic achievements. He was commissioned as a second Lieutenant with the United States Marine Corps, May 24, 1996 and reported to The Basic School (TBS) , Quantico, VA. After TBS, Captain Meiners reported to NAS Pensacola for Naval Aviation Preflight Indoctrination Training. From there Captain Meiners went to NAS Corpus Christi, TX for Primary Fixed Wing Training. Having received high marks, Captain Meiners was selected for Basic/Advanced Jet training in Meridian, MS. He was winged a Naval Aviator on February 25, 2000 and reported to the “Hawks” of Marine Attack Training Squadron 203 at MCAS Cherry Point, NC in May 2000 for training in the AV-8B Harrier.
He was a tri-athlete and an avid reader.
Captain Meiners is survived by his wife, Lisa M. (nee Sebastian) , whom he married October 19, 1999 and is expecting their first child in July. Other survivors include his father, Larry S. Meiners of Avon Lake, his Mother Carol A. Meiners of Avon Lake, a brother Lance Meiners of Streetsboro, OH and paternal grandparents, Fred and Mary Meiners of Greenwood, MO.. He is preceded in death by a brother Lane Meiners in 1971.
Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Rd. Avon Lake, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-9:00pm Friday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 10 at 10:00am, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 410 Lear Rd., Avon Lake. Fr. James H. Beatty of the Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memory Garden, Avon, with full military honors.
The family request that Memorials be forwarded to the Jason K. Meiners Memorial Scholarship Fund, Avon Lake High School Athletic Department, 175 Avon Belden Rd., Avon Lake, OH 44012.

Arline Mae Pullen

Arline M. Pullen – 79 of Avon Lake, formerly of Cleveland, passed away, Wednesday, December 18, at the Oakridge Home, Westlake, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Pullen was born, October 19, 1923 in Cleveland and has lived in Avon Lake since 1957.
Mrs. Pullen began her career as a secretary after graduating from East High School, Cleveland in 1941. At that time she went to work for the Erie Railroad, Cleveland as a stenographer/recorder in the Medical Department. She worked for the railroad for 10 years, and during that time met her husband George E., who also was a railroad employee. After raising a family, Mrs. Pullen returned to work as a Legal Secretary with Smith and Smith Attorneys, Avon Lake. Upon retirement, she worked for the St. Joseph Catholic Credit Union. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a member of the Church’s Ladies Guild, a member of the Lorain Art League, active with the Avon Lake Chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons. She was also a long time volunteer at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Avon.
Besides her husband, George E., whom she married , November 6, 1948, Mrs. Pullen is survived by daughters: Carol Klimas (Mick) of Riverbank, CA, Kathleen Plank (Paul) of Lakewood, Laura Warrington (Steve) of Brandon, FL and Patricia Coss (Michael) of Mt. Vernon, OH; a son David of Parma; 8 grandchildren, Michael, Meg, Matthew, Dana, Dustin, Aaron, Victor and Abraham and 2 great grandchildren, Jayden and Angelina. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Judnick, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
A Memorial Mass will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Avon Lake, at a later date. Interment will be private in Resthaven Memory Garden. Fr. Timothy J. O’Connor of the church will officiate.
