James Girton
(March 6, 1946 - June 23, 2013)

James David Girton, age 67 of Williamsburg, Ohio died Sunday, June 23, 2013 as a result from an automobile accident in Mt. Orab, Ohio. He was a retired engineer for the General Electric Company. James was born March 6, 1946 in Green Hills, Ohio the son of the late Clinton W. and Edna H. (DeJournette) Girton, Sr.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister – Margaret H. Gentry.

Mr. Girton is survived by his loving wife, Margaret “Maggie” (Cole) Girton; two sons – Brad Girton and wife Angela of Fairfield, Ohio and Jeremy Girton and wife Angie of Greenfield, Ohio; three grandsons – John, Ricky and James; three granddaughters – Michaela, Lauren and Vayda; one great-grandson – Keegan; five brothers and sisters – Dorothy F. Gill and husband Fred of Harveysburg, Ohio, Clinton W, Girton, Jr. and wife Pat of Mt. Orab, Ohio, J. Bernice Gay and the late Barry of Milford, Ohio, Charles T. Girton of Galveston, Texas and Donald A. Girton of Hollywood, Florida and many nieces and nephews.

Edward (Ed) Fath
(July 20, 1936 - June 26, 2013)

Edward (Ed) Fath, age 76 of rural Ripley, Ohio passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at the Ohio Valley Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center near Ripley. He was preceded in death by his wife of over fifty years, Edith and his brother Jim Fath. He is survived by four sisters – JoAnn Fath, Janie Thompson, Shirley Bittner (Jim) and Carol Tate (Wayne); two brothers – Bob Fath and Ron Fath (Ginny); sister-in-law Dee Mueller (Dan) and foster daughter, Fran Thomas. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A retired carpenter, Eddie enjoyed spending time farming and in later years devoted much time and passion supporting the Ohio Tobacco Museum, the Tobacco Festival and numerous other community activities.

Funeral services will be held at 8:00 P.M. on Friday, June 28, 2013 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home. A private interment will be held at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Lowell D. Reid
(September 9, 1951 - June 28, 2013)

U.S. Veteran

Lowell D. Reid, age 61 of Sardinia, Ohio died Friday, June 28, 2013 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a former Brown County Sheriff Deputy, a former Georgetown Police Officer, an Army Viet Nam Veteran, a welder for the Trinity Company for over twenty years and was employed by the 3M Company. He was born September 9, 1951 in Georgetown, Ohio the son of the late Lawrence Lee and Dorothy Virginia (Beckett) Reid. He was also preceded in death by one brother – Dick Reid and two sisters – Peggy Gray and Marlene “Punk” Reid.

Mr. Reid is survived by his wife of forty-one years – Cheryl (Newman) Reid, whom he married June 17, 1972, two sons – Chad Reid of Cincinnati, Ohio and Brandon Reid and wife Melana of Winchester, Ohio, four grandchildren – Cody, Andrew, Megan and Cooper Reid, three sisters – Virginia Burton and husband Dale of Cincinnati, Ohio, Bonnie Sullivan of Georgetown, Ohio and Kay Shinkle and husband Joe of Georgetown, Ohio, his mother-in-law – Jeanette Newman Myers of Georgetown, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Rev. Chuck Gray will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Confidence Cemetery in Georgetown, Ohio with veterans services by the Carey Bavis American Legion Post # 180.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.

William Ludlow Taft
(June 20, 1947 - June 30, 2013)

William L. Taft, age 66 of Georgetown, Ohio died Sunday, June 30, 2013 at the Southwest Regional Medical Center in Georgetown, Ohio. He was a retired security guard. Mr. Taft was born June 20, 1947 in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of the late Robert Forbes and Margaret Mary (McCready) Taft.

Mr. Taft is survived by two sisters – Trish Stewart of Georgetown, Ohio and Angela Carter of Cincinnati, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no services. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the William L. Taft memorial fund, c/o 5/3 Bank, 4899 State Route 125, Georgetown, Ohio 45121. The Cahall Funeral Home of Georgetown, Ohio is serving the family.

Thomas W. Mason
(December 30, 1951 - July 4, 2013)

U.S. Veteran

Thomas W. Mason, age 61 of Georgetown, Ohio died Thursday, July 4, 2013 at his residence. He was a welder at Ortner for twenty-three years, a paratrooper in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division and a long time member of the F.O.E. #2293 in Georgetown, Ohio. Tom enjoyed camping with his family and friends and he took pride in his farm and mainly his Big Blue Tractor. By nature he was a very funny, loving and caring person. He was born December 30, 1951 in Feesburg, Ohio the third son of the late Rex Lewis and Mary Ann (Black) Mason Sr..

Tom is survived by his loving wife and best friend of forty-one years – Kristie (Griffith) Mason whom he married June 10, 1972. One son – Thomas W. Mason, Jr. and wife Heather of Russellville, Ohio, one daughter – Krystal Lynn Phillips and husband Jake of Georgetown, Ohio, three grandchildren – Pvt. Heather Mason, Brooklynn Partin and Thomas W. Mason III (Liam), one step granddaughter – Kaylee Lucas, two brothers – Fred Mason of Batavia, Ohio and Rex Mason, Jr. of Georgetown, Ohio, one sister – Clair Ernst and husband Russell of Hamersville, Ohio and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and Fraternal Order of Eagles services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 7, 2013 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Scott Hennig will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Confidence Cemetery with Veterans services by the Carey Bavis American Legion Post #180.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Hope or to the American Cancer Society.

Gordon Bruce Thompson
(May 4, 1927 - July 5, 2013)

Gordon Bruce Thompson, age 86 of Georgetown, Ohio died Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley Inpatient Center in Seaman, Ohio. Mr. Thompson was a retired maintenance employee of the Pepsi Company and Milacron and was a member of the Higginsport Christian Church. He was born May 4, 1927 in Robertson County, Kentucky the son of the late Hargis and Maggie Ellen (Shields) Thompson. He was also preceded in death by one brother – Robert Thompson and six sisters – Betty Hines, Jean Ohl, Hazel McKenzie, Josie Blair, Margie Thompson and Janet Thompson.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife – Martha Thompson of Ripley, Ohio and two sisters – Nell Waits and husband Steve of Hillsboro, Ohio and Sylvia Carter of Norwood, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. – 1:00 P.M. Wednesday. Interment will be in the Confidence Cemetery.

Mary Barrett
(May 26, 1994 - July 5, 2013)

Mary Delitha Elizabeth Barrett, age 19 of Felicity, Ohio died Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a 2012 graduate of the Western Brown High School and member of the Western Brown ROTC and the Felicity Nazarene Church in Felicity, Ohio. Mary was born May 26, 1994 in Anderson Township, Ohio the daughter of Bruce Barrett of Hamersville, Ohio and Tammy (Peters) Lacrone of Felicity, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers - Bruce G. Barrett and Howard J. Bender.

in addition to her parents, Mary is survived by two brothers – Joseph Barrett of Hamersville, Ohio and Charlie Barrett of Felicity, Ohio; three sisters – Jasmine Lacrone and Breeanna Lacrone both of Hamilton, Ohio and Meghan Lacrone of Felicity, Ohio; grandmothers – Alice Bender of Williamsburg, Ohio and Jennie Barrett of Hamersville, Ohio; great-grandmother – Anna Henson of Hamersville, Ohio and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, July 11, 2013 at the Cahall Funeral Home, in Mt. Orab, Ohio. Kent Davenport will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Point Isabel Cemetery in Point Isabel, Ohio.

Martha Ann Adams
(July 26, 1928 - July 5, 2013)

Martha Ann Adams, age 84 of Ripley, Ohio died Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Southwest Regional Medical Center in Georgetown, Ohio. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Ripley, Ohio and the Courts-Fussnecker American Legion Post #367 Auxiliary. Mrs. Adams was born July 26, 1928 in Ripley, Ohio the daughter of the late John Shanklin and Mary Josephine (Serwna) Helbling. She was also preceded in death by three brothers – Jerome, Christian and Teddy Helbling and one grandson – Jason Hamilton.

Mrs. Adams is survived by her husband of sixty-five years, Carlos Adams, whom she married July 29, 1947. Six children – Lawrence Adams and wife Deborah of Sharonville, Ohio, Richard Adams and wife Carol of New Richmond, Ohio, Mary Ann List and husband Mickey of Ripley, Ohio, Jeannie Taylor and husband Dennis of Ripley, Ohio, Carol Yazell and husband John of Ash Ridge, Ohio and John Adams and wife Mary of Ripley, Ohio, sixteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, five brothers – Anthony Helbling and wife Janie of Vero Beach, Florida, Eugene Helbling and Steve Helbling both of Cincinnati, Ohio, Jim Helbling and wife Sue of Covington, Kentucky and Francis Helbling of Maysville, Kentucky and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Ripley, Ohio. Rev. Mike Leshney will be the Celebrant. Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. – 11:15 A.M. Tuesday at the Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley, Ohio.
