Donald Canfield

Donald Lloyd " Don" Canfield, 84, longtime Seminole resident died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013 at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Don was born Nov. 16, 1929 in Spencer, Okla. to Lloyd and Margaret "Muna" (Shadrick) Canfield.

Don married the love of his life, Lula (Hill) Canfield, on May 20, 1950 in Oklahoma City, she preceded him in death on Nov. 17, 2005, and they are together again.

The grandchildren remember Don as one of the strongest men they ever knew.

He was a very hard worker. He definitely taught them to work hard for everything they have, just as he had done.

He loved his farm, cattle and milk business.

He was a self employed Borden’s Milk Distributor from 1956 to 2003.

He took pride in that and made a lot of friends throughout his career.

He seriously knew everybody; many loved him and enjoyed being around him.

A strong handshake was something he expected from all men that he met.

The grandchildren loved to follow him around, ride in his red jeep and his red Ford truck; they still remember the smell.

They will always remember the many trips they made to the Four Mile Grocery for a beer run, chips and bean dip.

He would always let whoever went along for the ride pick out whatever they wanted and always had good country music playing with certain songs that brought back those memories.

They loved riding along to assist him at building fence, check his cows or help him with any work that needed to be done.

All of the grandchildren had their share of working with him and thanked him numerous times for giving each of them a life of growing up on hundreds of acres where they were able to run wild and make memories, because of his hard work in life and sacrifices.

He never raised his voice to his grandchildren.

Don loved sitting in his chair on the back porch during the summer months, and the family loved it, too.

He always bragged about all of his family and loved them all so very much.

The family will cherish all the wonderful memories they had with him.

He lived a long life and loved every second of it.

When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing it will be, and what a day it is for him to see grandma’s sweet face again.

He is survived by his son, Glen Canfield and his wife, Vickie of Bowlegs, Okla.; his daughter, Donna Marley and her husband, Mitch of Seminole; two brothers, Roy Lee Canfield of Oklahoma City, and Tom Canfield and his wife, Mary of Prague, Okla.; three sisters, Delores McAllister and her husband, Vernon of Forest Park, Okla. and Alma Faye Denton and her husband, Dr. Tom Denton of Edmond, Okla., Shirley Wishon of Luther, Okla.; and a sister-in-law, Carol Canfield of Meeker, Okla.
