Maureen Streater

Family and friends will gather at the Church of Christ in Wewoka on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. to honor Maureen Streater of Wewoka who died peacefully surrounded by her family. During her tranquil and calm exit from this earth on September 21, 2013, Maureen revealed the same grace, class, and dignity she exemplified throughout her extraordinary life.

Mrs. Streater was born on April 30, 1923 to Edward and Willie Florence (King) Ott in Riverside, Calif. She married Frank Streater on October 11, 1942 in Wewoka, Okla. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2012.

A proud graduate of Cromwell High School, Maureen excelled in basketball, serving as team captain and was a member of the tennis team. Sports were an integral part of her life growing up. She especially enjoyed watching all of her grandchildren participate in their various sports and activities.

College game days provided great enjoyment to her as well. She enjoyed watching OU and OSU football and basketball games.

During her early life, she attended Seminole Jr. College (now SSC) and Oklahoma State University. Education played a powerful role in her life. She was an avid reader. The state and local newspapers were necessary to her daily reading routine. Maureen rarely missed an opportunity to satisfy her thirst of knowledge. She provided a tremendous example to her children and grandchildren to never cease learning.

She worked for over thirty years at the Security State Bank of Wewoka as an administrative assistant. She was also loyal member of the Wewoka Church of Christ, Camp Fire Girls Leader, Samoka Home Demonstration Club, Wewoka Christmas Cookie Club, volunteer at the Seminole Nation Museum, and a participant in the 100th Centennial Anniversary Celebration of Wewoka.

Maureen enjoyed cooking her delicious pies and cobblers. Traveling was a favorite part of her life. California and Hilton Head Island were popular destinations.

Mrs. Streater was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers, Marion and James Ott and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharyn and husband, Art of Wewoka, Okla.; and Linda and husband, Dan of Seminole, Okla. Grandchildren include Kristi Malinga, of Oklahoma City, Okla., Kyle Garner, and wife, Heather of Southlake, Tex., Kerri Houghton, and husband, Chase of Cache, Okla., Logan Curtis and husband Troy of Norman, Okla., and Lincoln Dearing, of Seminole, Okla.

Great-grandchildren surviving Maureen are Jaxon, Jace, and Ellison Garner of Southlake, Tex; Piper, Dallas, and Dru Houghton of Cache, Okla., and Blake Curtis of Norman, Okla.

Other survivors include sister, Janice Bentley of Ceres, Calif., sister-in-law, Delores Ann Anderson and husband, Les of Albuquerque, N.M. and brother-in-law, Chester Streater of Wewoka, Okla. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive Maureen.

Grandsons Kyle Garner, Lincoln Dearing, Troy Curtis, Chase Houghton, Jaxon Garner, and Jace Garner will serve as pallbearers.

Sons-in-law Art Garner and Dan Dearing will serve as honorary pallbearers.

To honor Mrs. Streater, memorial donations can be made to the Seminole Nation Museum or the Wewoka Public Library. The family will receive visitors during a viewing at Stout Phillips Funeral Chapel on Friday, September 27, 2013 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday September 28, 2013 at the Wewoka Church of Christ with Aaron Alsbrook officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Trevia Streater

Trevia Sue Streater age 73 years of Wewoka, Okla., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013.

She was born Feb. 27, 1940 in Wewoka, Okla. to the late Howard and Jimmie Ella (Autry) Cook.

Trevia was a graduate of Wewoka High School and a member of Hilltop Church.

She loved her children and grandchildren, she was a great cook and loved spending time with her family.

Trevia dedicated her life to her family.

Preceding Trevia in death are her parents; son, Randall Lee Streater; and brother, George Cook.

Survivors included her husband, Darrell Streater of 56 years; sons, Michael Streater and wife, Tara Lyn of Wheeler, Tex. and Dewayne Streater and wife, Julie of Wewoka; brother, Don Cook and wife Jeretta of Wewoka; sister-in-law Betty Cook of Wewoka; grandchildren Dana, Amber, Jason, Justin, Brandon, Brooke, Blake, Nash, Tyler, Kylee, and Wyatt, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Clifford Cook, Greg Cook, Scott, Slovacek, Shannon Smith, Gary Calvert, and Carl Barkhimer.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Blake Streater, Brandon Streater, and Ricky Streater.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2013 at the New Life Church in Wewoka, with Rev. Russell Ryker and Pastor Tommy Azlin officiating, and burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

William Stubblefield

Graveside services for William "Bill" Henry Stubblefield, age 76, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at Oakwood Cemetery, with Pastor Jim Moore officiating.

He was born April 5, 1936 in Stigler, Okla. to the late Will Stubblefield and Maria Hassaway.

He died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013 in Midwest City, Okla.

He was a self-employed farmer.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one sibling and a step-son.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Kelough; five children and four step-children, and numerous grandchildren.

Pall Bearers will be James Jimenez, Dewayne Johnson, Mike Belcher, Joe Mendenhall, Brandon Walden, and Sylvester Arbuckle.

Arrangements are by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

James Sullivan

James Ross Sullivan of Holdenville, Okla. passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in Wewoka, Okla.

He was born on Aug. 18, 1939 to Michael and Laura (McGill) Sullivan in Beeville, Tex.

James enjoyed coaching baseball, was an active supporter of 4-H and FFA, loved to travel, camp, and go to casinos.

He loved his grand children, music and family and raised ten amazing men and two wonderful daughters.

James was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean Conflict. James was a devoted husband to his wife, Molly, for over fifty-one years.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Laura (McGill) Sullivan; two brothers, Phillip and Kenneth Sullivan; one son, Michael Earl Sullivan; and one grandson, Brett Sullivan.

He is survived by his wife, Molly Sullivan of the home; his sons, Tim Sullivan, Jimbo Sullivan, Leo Sullivan and wife, JoAnna, John Sullivan and wife, Carey, Luke Sullivan and wife, Jeannine Jacob Sullivan, Andrew Sullivan and wife, Misti, Samuel Sullivan and wife, Rachel, Daniel Sullivan and wife, Stacy; daughters, Patricia Wood and husband, Richard, Krystal Chesser and husband, Tim; daughter-in-law, Tammy Sullivan, forty-seven grand children, 16 great grand children, and a host of other friends and family.

Funeral Services for James will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the Chuch of the Nazerene of Holdenville, Okla. with Rev. Larry Chesser officiating. Interment will follow at the Holdenville Cemetery in Holdenville, Okla.

Pallbearers are Tim Sullivan, John Sullivan, Samuel Sullivan, Andrew Sullivan, Jimbo Sullivan, Luke Sullivan, Jacob Sullivan, Leo Sullivan and Daniel Sullivan.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Matthew T. Chesser and Richard S. Wood.

Funeral Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home of Holdenville, Okla.

Georgia Suva

Georgia Ann Suva, 87, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, mother-in-law and friend, passed away peacefully on Aug. 17, 2013.

Born Georgia Ann Gilstrap in Ramona, Okla. in 1925, Ms. Suva lived most of her life in Wewoka and Tulsa.

She retired in 1986 after a long career at Southwestern Bell/AT&T.

Her family is proud to note that, among her many accomplishments, Ms. Suva raised her daughter as a divorced single mother during a time when all the odds were against such an enterprise.

She was also a talented artist, equally adept at drawing, painting, ceramics, calligraphy and needlepoint.

She was a dreamer with an endlessly creative spirit, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Walker; sister, Norma Alberty; son-in-law, Michael Walker; grandson, Adam Walker; and loving friend and caretaker, Linda Smart.

Memorial services are Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Southlawn Chapel, Moore Funeral Home, 9350 East 51st in Tulsa.

Jessie Taber

Jessie Lois Taber was born in Seminole County on March 26, 1923 and departed this life at her home in Prague on Feb. 6, 2013. She was 89 years of age.

Lois was the daughter of Jesse and Flossie (Tucker) Aldridge.

She grew up on the family farm in Seminole County and graduated from Strother High School with the Class of 1941.

She married Richard J. Taber in Seminole on Dec. 18, 1941. Richard preceded her in death on April 11, 2004.

Lois enjoyed a successful thirty year career in banking with many of those spent at Prague National Bank (now Vision Bank).

In 1965 she took a leave of absence from her banking career to join her husband in North Africa where they were both employed by Oasis Oil Company.

They returned from Africa in 1969 and made their home in the northeastern part of Seminole County.

Lois retired from the bank in 1985 and they moved to Prague in 1994.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Survivors include one son and daughter in law, Dick and Dowanna Taber of Prague; two grandsons, Rusty and Jessica Taber of Prague and Michael Neal Taber and Candace Smith of Meeker; six great grandchildren; and five great greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 at 2:00 p.m., at Little Cemetery with Rev. Randall Miller officiating.

Following the wishes of Mrs. Taber there will be no viewing.

Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Kennedy Talamasy

Kennedy Wise Talamasy Sr. passed away at Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at the age of 74 years.

Kennedy was the son of Andy Wise Talmasy and Jonah (Johnson) Wise Talmasy, born on Aug. 14, 1939 in Pawnee, Okla.

He was brought up in the Bowlegs area and attended Chilocco Indian Boarding School in Newkirk.

He joined the United States Army in June of 1959, served and was wounded in Korea, and was honorably discharged in 1962. Following military service, he returned to Oklahoma.

He married Bessie Yargee on June 25, 1965, in Sapulpa, and they made their home in the Tulsa area.

Kennedy worked for many years as a journeyman printer and was a member of the International Typographical Union.

He retired from the Tulsa World in 1978, and returned to the family home place in Seminole County near Bowlegs.

Kennedy was a member of the Mekusukey Baptist Church south of Seminole, where he was baptized by Rev. Willie Herrod.

He was the Micco of the Tvllahasvce Ceremonial Ground.

He loved to fish and hunt, loved arts and crafts, and reading.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Jonah Wise Talmasy; his son, Kenney Wise Talamasy Jr., and two daughters, Christine ‘Pinky’ Wise Talamasy and Thelma Wise Talamasy; three sisters, Linda Jones, Margaret Wise Talamasy, and Angel Wise Talamasy; and two brothers, Andrew Wise Talamasy and Ellis Eli Talamasy.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Bessie, of the home; one son, Phillip, of Bemidji, Minn., and four daughters, Bernadine of Seminole, Ladena of Tulsa, Margaret of Bowlegs, and Kristen, of the home; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be Monday, Aug. 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lavina Beaver Center in the Alabama Quassarde Tribal Complex north of Wetumka, and Kennedy will be laid to rest in the Yeager Cemetery.

Procession to the Center will be Saturday, Aug. 24, at 3:30 p.m.

Wake services will be held at the Center on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 8:00 p.m.

Rev. Clarence Yaholar and Rev. Houston Tiger are the officiating ministers.

Pallbearers are Leroy Harjo, Alexander Yargee, Wilson Yargee, Tarpie Yargee, Eco Robinson, and Adam Cook.

Honorary pallbearers are members of the Seminole Nation Color Guard.

Services are under direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville.
