Melba Brooks

MAUD – Funeral services for Melba Jean (Goodin) Brooks are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Baptist Church.

Rev. Carl Whitfield and Rev. Wayne Taylor are set to officiate.

Burial is to follow at Cummings Cemetery under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home.

Brooks died Tuesday, March 12, 2002 at her daughter’s home in Prague at the age of 75.

She was born Sept. 29, 1926 in Remus to John Wesley and Vaida Florence (Coleman) Goodin.

She was a sales associate for J.C. Penney’s in Shawnee until retiring in 1994.

Brooks was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and the W.M.U.

She was an assistant cook at Falls Creek and served on the Trinity Baptist Hostess Committee and was a Vacation Bible School assistant teacher for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Donnie L. Goodin on Feb. 12, 1965 and Alvin "Ab" Goodin on Jan. 16, 2002.

Brooks is survived by three daughters, Marie Williams of Prague, Jana Thomas of Tecumseh, and Jean Baysinger of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Alton "Bud" Goodin of East Carbon, Utah, Dewey Goodin of Maud, and Delbert Goodin of Del City; two sisters, Norma La Farge of Loveland, Ohio and Sue McCraw of Stillwater.

Casket bearers are Dave Thomas, Mike Williams, Larry Baysinger, Kevin Williams, Justin Baysinger, and Matthew Baysinger.

Honorary bearers are "Bud" Goodin, Dewey Goodin, Delbert Goodin, Arnold LaFarge, and Dean McCraw.

The family request memorial donations be made to the Hospice of Shawnee, 1102 W. MacArthur, Shawnee, 74804.

Linda Brown

Funeral services for Linda Kay Brown are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Stout Funeral Chapel.

Pastor Charles Jones is set to officiate.

Interment is to follow in Schoolton Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.

Brown died Friday, February 8, 2002, at her home in Oklahoma City at the age of 56.

She was born June 26, 1945, in Oklahoma City to Leroy and Rena Cooper Archer.

She graduated from Southeast High School in Oklahoma City, and married Nelson Brown on March 27, 1963.

Brown lived in Bullhead City, Arizona, from 1989 through May, 2001, and worked at the Colorado Belle Hotel and Casino in Laughlin, Nev., before returning to Oklahoma in May.

She was preceded in death by her father.

She is survived by her mother of Cromwell; her husband, Nelson Brown of Oklahoma City; four sons, James Leroy Brown of Indianapolis, Ind., Nelson Wayne Brown, Jr. and David Ray Brown, both of Shawnee, and John J. Brown of Las Vegas, Nev.; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Peggy Coyle of Cromwell and Neva Weller of Newalla.

Pallbearers are Nelson Brown Jr., John J. Brown, Robert J. Moseley, David Brown, James Leroy Brown and Ron Weller.

Patsy Brown

MUSTANG – Funeral services for Konawa High School graduate Patsy Jo Brown were scheduled for 10 a.m. today at the Chapel of The Good Shepherd at McNeil’s Mustang Funeral Service.

Burial was to follow at 3 p.m. today at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of McNeil’s Mustang Funeral Service.

Brown died Friday, March 22, 2002 at an Oklahoma City hospital after a lengthy illness at the age of 72.

She was born Nov. 8, 1929 in Ada to Hugh and Jesse Patton Bowles.

She grew up in the Vamoosa and Konawa area.

Brown was a 1948 graduate of Konawa High School and attended East Central University in Ada.

She was a partner of the family business, P & C Sales.

She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and had been a longtime member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Ada where she served for many years as the church secretary.

Brown was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Barry; one brother, Butch Bowles, two sisters, Lenoir Harbour and Janie Bowles-Duncan.

She is survived by her husband, Charles "Chuck" Brown of the home; one son, Philip Brown of Oklahoma City; and one grandson.

Steve Brown

OKLAHOMA CITY – Funeral services for Steve Brown, the brother of a Seminole resident, are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Calvary Church of the Nazarene at 3100 North Rockwell.

Burial is to follow at Bethany Cemetery under the direction of Mercer-Adams Funeral Service.

Brown died at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, 2002.

He had battled lung disease, kidney failure, heart surgery and gall bladder removal in the days before his death, according to the family.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Brown of Oklahoma City; six sons, David of Farmerville, La., Doyle of Woodward, Dale of Pauls Valley, Darrell of Prague, Dwayne of Bethany, and Douglas of Mustang; three sisters, Alma Flannery of Seminole, Cora Brown and Betty Sandlin; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Fannie Bruner

Graveside services for Seminole resident Fannie Lenore (Brown) Bruner are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Green Hill Memorial Cemetery in Sapulpa.

Revs. Carol Walker, Joe Coon, and Bruner’s nephew, Dewayne Tiger, will officiate the services.

Services will be under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Bruner died Sunday, July 28, 2002 at her home in Seminole at the age of 84.

She was born to Clarence Yahlane Brown and Wattie (Bigpond) Brown on Jan. 29, 1918 in Bristow.

Bruner moved to Seminole from Sapulpa, and was a homemaker, and a member of the Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Ocie Brown, Sam Lewis, and Chief James Brown; and one great-grandson, Ryan Keith Pierce, Jr.

Bruner is survived by four daughters, Joyce Brennan, Moore, and Billie Tiger, Norma Tiger, and Roberta "Bertie" Coon, all of Seminole; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

James ‘J-Bird’ Bruner

Wake services for James Lee "J-Bird" Bruner are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Hudson-Phillips Chapel.

The procession to Tekopuchee Methodist Church is to begin at 10 a.m. Friday and services are to begin there at 1:30 p.m.

Rev. Malcolm Tiger is set to officiate.

Burial is to follow at Yahola-Fixico Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.

Bruner died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002 at his home in Holdenville at the age of 32.

He was born Jan. 15, 1970 in Holdenville to Louis and Nora Bruner.

He attended Holdenville Schools and was a member of Tekopuchee Methodist Church.

Bruner was employed with Wrangler for two years until his illness in December.

He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Winley Fixico and Cora Lowe.

He is survived by his parents of the home; one brother, Thomas Bruner of Holdenville; and one grandfather, California Fixico of Holdenville.

Pallbearers are Steve McGirt, Eric Thlocco, Mike Brown, Randall Billy, Henry Factor, Mike Tiger, John McCosar, and Greg Poafibitty.

Honorary pallbearers are Lloyd Harjo, Brian Factor, Joe Tiger, Ronnie Hulbutta, Daniel Gray, Greg Smith, Ronnie George, Punkin King, and Richmond Tiger.

Linda Bruner

Funeral services for Linda Sue Bruner are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Macedonia Baptist Church.

Rev. Wilburn Bruner of Greater Canon Baptist Church of Oklahoma City is set to officiate.

Burial is to follow at Leader Cemetery under the direction of Myers Mortuary.

Bruner died Sunday, June 2, 2002 at Midwest City Regional Medical Center at the age of 51.

She was born Nov. 16, 1950 in Wewoka to Charley and Pernie (Colbert) Bruner.

She left Wewoka in 1966 and had resided in Oklahoma City for the last 35 years.

Bruner had attended dental school.

She was employed by General Motors for eight years and also worked as a housekeeper at the Marriott in Oklahoma City.

She was a member of Greater Canon Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Wilburn Bruner.

Bruner was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and three sisters.

She is survived by a special friend, Willie Howard; one daughter, Sheila Ann Bruner of Oklahoma City; one son, Rodney Bruner of Oklahoma City; nine sisters, Victorine Simmons of Houston, Texas, Madean Carolina, Rena Alford, Ola Faye Bruner, and Dorothy Bruner, all of Wewoka, Corine Bruner, Asylene Bruner, Rose Bruner, and Ellen Roberts, all of Oklahoma City; four brothers, David Bruner, Willis Bruner, and Fred Bruner, all of Oklahoma City, and Bobby Bruner of Wewoka.

McArthur Bruner

WEWOKA – Funeral services for McArthur Bruner, the brother of Wewoka resident, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Macedonia Baptist Church.

Rev. Wilbur Bruner is set to officiate.

Burial is to follow at Leader Cemetery in Stonewall under the direction of Myers Mortuary.

Bruner died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2001 at his home in Oklahoma City at the age of 59.

He was born Nov. 9, 1942 to Charley and Pernie Bruner in Ada where lived until moving to Oklahoma City in 1976.

He worked as an auto mechanic for 40 years in Oklahoma City and retired from the Housing Authority of Oklahoma City.

Bruner was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Joby, Vernon and Bobby Gene Bruner; and three sisters, Alice Byrd and Betty and Stella Bruner.

He is survived by four brothers, David, Willis, and Fred Bruner, all of Oklahoma City and Bobby Bruner of Wewoka; 10 sisters, Ola Faye Bruner, Rena Alford, and Madeen Carolina, all of Wewoka, Corine, Dorothy, and Rose Bruner all of Choctaw, Ellen Roberts and Asylene Bruner, both of Oklahoma City, and Victorine Simmons of Houston, Texas.
