Hazel Clark

Funeral services for Hazel Annabelle Clark were scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.

Rev. Pam Shirk was set to officiate.

Services are under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.

Clark died Sunday, July 2, 2002 at Valley View Regional Hospital at the age of 82.

She was a longtime McCurtain County resident before moving to Konawa in September of 1986.

She was born Jan. 22, 1920 in Provo, Ark. to Zelkirk and Addaline (Robinson) Kennedy.

Clark was a bookkeeper for the family plumbing contracting business and was a homemaker.

She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy Lee Clark on Jan. 6, 1982; one son, Roy Kirk Clark; and three brothers.

Clark is survived by one son, Clemence B. Clark of Wynne, Ark.; three daughters, Wanda Lee Crenshaw and Donna Kay Clark, both of Konawa, and Virginia Lansdell of Ashdown, Ark.; one brother, Louis Kennedy of Van Nuys, Calif.; four sisters, Flossie Engle of Resida, Calif., Effie Smith of Dequeen, Ark., Vi Littrell of Idabel, and Zelma Crosby of Ventura, Calif.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Viola Climer

Funeral services for former Wewoka resident Viola Estella Climer are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Stout-Phillips Chapel.

Rev. Larry Chesser is set to officiate.

Interment is to follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.

Climer died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002 at Unity Health Center in Shawnee at the age of 84.

She had been a resident of Rose Manor Nursing Home for the past few years.

She was born April 7, 1918 at Blue Springs, which is now known as Sportsman’s Lake, in Seminole County, to Will C. and Elizabeth Johnston Campbell.

Climer grew up in the Wewoka area and attended Wewoka schools.

She married William Henry "Bill" Climer on April 16, 1933. He preceded her in death in September of 1964.

She is survived by her daughter, Elva Smith-Dover of Shawnee; two sons, Ray Climer and Gene Climer, both of Wewoka; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Jessie DeLeon of Shawnee and Cora Bell Hardy of Tecumseh.

Climer was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Jack Campbell; and one grandson, Gene Climer Jr.

Pallbearers will be Justin Climer, Billy Ray Climer, Edward Crump, Jackie Moreland, and Doug Lowe.

Honorary pallbearer will be Arty Dover Jr.

Dorothy ‘Granny’ Cline

Funeral services for Dorothy Jean "Granny" Cline are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Rev. Frank Hester is set to officiate.

Burial is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Dorothy died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002 at Unity Health Center North in Shawnee at the age of 80.

She was born June 11, 1922 in Krebs to Gregory and Katherine (Arch) Moye and moved to Seminole in the early 1950’s.

She married James A. Cline. He preceded her in death in 1980.

Dorothy was a clerk at Richard’s Quick Stop for 18 years. Before that, she worked at Doyle’s Quick Stop.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Jeannie Graves in September of 2001; and one brother, Bill Moye.

She is survived by two sons, Richard Cline of Seminole and Leon Vader of Crescent; one daughter, Sharon Palmer of Wewoka; seven grandchildren, Sherri Stacy, Russell Graves, Davita Graves, Brock Ward, Ricky Cline, Heather Cline, and Leslie Palmer; one brother, Gregory Moye of Wewoka; and six great-grandchildren.

Casket bearers will be her grandsons.

Vickie Coker

Funeral services for Vickie Diane (Mercer) Coker are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.

Rev. Ruby Nell Davis York is set to officiate.

Burial is to follow at Achena Cemetery in Maud under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Coker died Tuesday, July 3, 2002 in Oklahoma City at the age of 43.

She was a former Seminole resident.

She was born Dec. 13, 1958 in Louisiana to Orval Joe Davis and Dorothy Jean (Burchell) Mercer.

Coker married Keith Wendell Coker on June 3, 1975 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her adoptive father, Billy Ray Mercer.

Coker is survived by her mother of Louisiana; her husband of the home; three sons, William Coker of Tecumseh, Wendell Coker of Sparks, and David Coker of Shawnee; two sisters, Elisha and Lori, both of Louisiana; and two grandchildren.

William ‘Bill’ Cole

Funeral services for William Joseph "Bill" Cole are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Rev. Carl Whitfield is set to officiate.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 10 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Cole died Sunday, April 7, 2002 at his home at the age of 59.

He was born Feb. 25, 1943 in Kansas to Oswald and Pauline (Graves) Cole.

He married Glenda (Moore) on Sept. 2, 1995 in Kansas.

Cole was the manager of KBK Industries.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bobby Cole; two sisters, Barbara and Betty; one stepson, Christopher Smith; and two granddaughters, Fanci Ripple and Kayla Blanton.

He is survived by his wife of the home; seven sons, Douglas Cole of Oklahoma; Johnny Cole of Emporia, Kans., Daniel Cole of Holdenville, Darrin Cole of Ottawa, and Jesse Cole, Billy Joy Cole, and Dallas Cole, all of Seminole; two daughters, Erica Cole and Angela Blanton of Osawatomie, Kans.; two stepsons, Rod Smith of Prague and B.J. Spurgeon of Miss.; two brothers, Fred Cole of Iola, Kans. And Larry Cole of Seminole; three sisters, Bonnie Joy of Benedict, Kans., and Mary Stocksen and Donna Kennedy, both of Osawatomie, Kans.; 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Cameron Coleman

Funeral services for Cameron Harold Coleman were scheduled for 10 a.m. today at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel.

Bro. Paul Heart was to officiate.

Burial was to follow in Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Services.

Coleman died Saturday, June 29, 2002 in Oklahoma City at the age of 86.

He was born Tuesday, Feb. 29, 1916 to Earl and Ella (Holder) Coleman.

He was retired oilfield construction foreman and had lived near Prague since 1980, after moving from California.

Coleman married Beulah Broyles on Jan. 27, 1937 in Chandler. She preceded him in death on July 24, 1988.

He then married Ada Jane (Maxwell) Navrath on Nov. 2, 1988 in Catoosa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, John Coleman, Charles Coleman, and Ronald Ogburn; and one sister, Fern Adams.

Coleman is survived by his wife of Prague; one son, Cameron Coleman Jr. of Prague; one daughter, Betty Johnson of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.; one stepson, Joe Navrath of Prague; three stepdaughters, Ann Moon of Prague, Nancy Zavodny of Perry, and Debbie Rogers of Pryor; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Integris Baptist Hospice at 3300 Northwest Expressway, Oklahoma City, 73112-4481.

Joseph Combs

Funeral services for Joseph Combs, who has many relatives in Wewoka, are scheduled for 11 a.m. on July 19, at the First Baptist Church in Holdenville.

Reverend Leman Lewis will preside over the ceremony, which will be provided by Myers Mortuary of Wewoka.

Combs died Monday, July 15, at Heritage Village Nursing Home in Holdenville at the age of 91.

He was born December 3, 1910, in Slick, to Roland V. and Cora Combs. He was the third of 10 children.

He attended school in Slick before moving to Holdenville in 1936, where he established a farm operation with his brother.

Combs operated dairy, poultry and peanut farms.

He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Holdenville, and served as deacon until recently.

On January 15, 1938, Combs married Gracie Fields, who survives him of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Elijah, Edward, Nathaniel, Howard and Sylvester Combs; two sisters, Ada and Ida Combs; and one son, Sylvester L. Combs.

Combs is survived by his wife; two daughters, Joann Coleman and Dorothy Wallace, both of Oklahoma City; three sons, Joe Combs Jr., Bristow, Alvin Combs, Beggs, and Franklin Combs, Holdenville; 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Shirley Ann Compton

HEALDTON – Graveside funeral services for Bowlegs graduate Shirley Ann Compton are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Olive Cemetery.

Bro. Phil Fox is set to officiate.

Services are under the direction of Spivey’s Reser Funeral Home.

Compton died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002 in Las Vegas at the age of 66.

She was born Feb. 3, 1935 in Sapulpa to William H. and Lavon (Catlett) Carter.

She lived in Las Vegas for over 20 years where she worked as a pit clerk at the Frontier Hotel and Casino.

Compton was preceded in death by her father and her husband.

She is survived by one son, David Compton of Seminole; one daughter, Cherie Thompson of Platter; her mother of Healdton; one sister, Nancy Hoskins of Lawton; two brothers, Jim Carter of Ardmore and John Robert Carter of Oklahoma City; and one granddaughter.
