Robert Coody

Funeral services for Robert Clarence Coody are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Hitchitee United Methodist Church.

Rev. Don Jones and Rev. Mike Harjo are set to officiate.

Burial is to follow at Hitchitee Church Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Coody died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002 at Carl Albert Indian Hospital in Ada at the age of 57.

He was born Dec. 29, 1944 in Seminole to Jimmy Jesse and Amanda (Little) Coody.

He worked for Sullivan Wholesale and Willis Wholesale.

Coody was a veteran of the United States Navy.

He was a member of the Hitchitee United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Tim Harjo and Joe Coody; one sister, Noetta Harjo; and one nephew, Micco Coody.

Coody is survived by his wife, Nancy L. Coody of Wewoka; one stepson, Randy Cotton of Wewoka; two stepdaughters, Jodi Cotton-Jay of Konawa and Stephanie Cotton of Wewoka; two brothers, Kenneth Coody and Willea Crow Coody, both of Seminole; two sisters; Rosanna Jones of Seminole and Jessica Coody of Wewoka; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Bob Williams, Kyle Coody, R.D. Coody, Jacob Brauning, Jedidah Brauning, Tommy Bighead, Thomas Little and David Little.

James Cook

CHOCTAW – Funeral services for Seminole High School graduate James Wiley Cook are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Choctaw Road Baptist Church.

Interment is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home.

Cook died Monday, April 1, 2002 at his home in Choctaw at the age of 64.

He was born April 28, 1937 in Shawnee to Isac and Esta (Gill) Cook.

He attended Seminole High School where he played football.

Cook served in the United States Navy from September of 1955 until September of 1959 on the submarine USS Segundo as a radio/sonar operator.

He graduated from Central State University on May 24, 1970.

He retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1990 after 20 years.

Cook then worked for Steve’s Automotive until his death.

The family requests memorials be made to the Oklahoma County Hospice.

Loreta ‘Rita’ Cook

A private family memorial service for Loreta "Rita" Cook is scheduled.

Cook died Feb. 7, 2002 at Presbyterian Hospital, OU Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 77.

She was born Oct. 20, 1926 in Tecumseh to Oscar A. Wimbs and Ella Waller.

She was raised by Effie Mae Cantrell in Oklahoma City.

Cook graduated from Taft High School in Oklahoma City in 1944.

She married Warren Thrasher in 1946 in El Paso, Texas.

He preceded her in death.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, John Marrow; and one sister, Mary Lou Shepard.

After attending Shawnee School of Cosmotology, Shawnee, she practiced hairstyling in Seminole before moving to Guthrie in 1960.

Cook married Bob G. Cook in 1966.

Together they owned and operated Bob’s White Rock Café in Guthrie for 27 years.

She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Guthrie.

She relocated to Seminole in 1998 after retirement.

Cook is survived by her husband, Bob of the home; two daughters, Judy Parks and Debi Casey of Seminole; two sons-in-law, Tommy Parks and Terry Casey, both of Seminole; one brother, Alfred "Red" Wimbs of Wellston; one sister, Ida Byrd of McAlester; two grandsons, Derek Parks of Shawnee and Tyler Parks of Oklahoma City; two great-grandsons, Nathan Parks and Gavin Parks, both of Shawnee; and one granddaughter-in-law, Amber Parks of Shawnee.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Heritage House Senior Citizen Center in Seminole; to Seminole State College Faculty Senate Students Scholarship Fund; or to an organization of choice.

James ‘Jim’ Cooper

Funeral services for James "Jim" Cooper were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.

Rusty Aldridge was set to officiate.

Burial was to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Cooper died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002 at his home at the age of 59.

He was born Aug. 30, 1942 in Guthrie to Merle Franklin and Minnie Lee (Jones) Cooper.

He married Janice (Aldridge) Cooper on April 30, 1976 in Seminole.

Cooper was a courier for BancFirst in Shawnee.

He was a private first class for the United States Army Reserves.

He was a member of the moose lodge in Midwest City #1235.

Cooper was preceded in death by one son, Lance Cooper; his parents; and one sister.

He is survived by his wife of the home; one daughter, Mynista Ranee’ Cooper of the home; and one brother, Tom Cooper of Guthrie.

Casket bearers are Kenny Byrd, Jerry Peeler, David Bass, John Seifried, Johnny Seifried, and Stacy Cooper.

Honorary bearers are Merle Cooper and Mark Seifried.

Winifred Copeland

YUKON – Funeral services for Seminole native Winifred "Shannon" Copeland were scheduled for this morning at Yanda and Son Chapel.

Interment was the follow at Yukon Cemetery under the direction of Yanda and Son Funeral Home.

Copeland died Friday, July 26, 2002 at the age of 73.

She was born Nov. 28, 1928 to Heber and Arra Shannon in Seminole.

She married Robert Copeland on Aug. 1, 1949 at First United Methodist Church of Stillwater.

The couple moved to Yukon in 1988.

Copeland was a Girl Scout leader in Fort Wayne, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Robert.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Eda Sullivent and Rose McCalmick, both of Yukon; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to Compassionate Hands, Inc. at Box 850146, Yukon, OK, 73805.

Fannie Cornett

Funeral services for Fannie (Robinson) Cornett are schedueld for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.

Rev. Doyle Long is set to officiate.

Burial is to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Cornett died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002 at Seminole Medical Center at the age of 102.

She was born Dec. 21, 1899 to John Campbell and Belle (Duncan) Robinson.

She married Luther Harrison Cornett on Sept. 21, 1921.

Cornett attended two years of teacher training after high school and taught at several small country schools in Arkansas until her marriage.

At the time that she taught, it was a law that if a teacher married, she had to resign her teaching position.

She was a member of First Assembly of God Church.

Cornett was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1975; five brothers; three sons, Roy Granville Cornett, Luther H. Cornett, Jr., and Charles Cornett; and two daughters, Marion Mayfield and Patricia Capps.

She is survived by her daughter, Frances McElroy of Seminole; one sister, Florence Anderson of Seminole; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Luther Cornett Jr.

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Luther Harrison Cornett, Jr., are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Rev. Doyle Long will officiate the service.

Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Cornett died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002 at Seminole Medical Center at the age of 75.

He was born to Luther Cornett, Sr., and Fannie (Robinson) Cornett on March 18, 1926 in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Cornett was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Charles Cornett; and two sisters, Patricia Capps and Marion Mayfield.

Cornett is survived by his mother, Fannie Cornett, Seminole; and one sister, Frances McElroy, Seminole.
