Keith Cotton

Funeral services for Keith Andrew Cotton are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Father Basil Keenan, O.S.B. is set to officiate.

Burial is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

A Catholic rosary is planned for 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Cotton died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002 in Oklahoma City at the age of 36.

He was born June 4, 1966 in Superior, Wis. To Cary Paul and Patricia Emily (Demeyer) Cotton.

He was employed at Wilson Equipment. He formerly worked on pulling units in Seminole area oil fields.

Cotton was of the Catholic faith.

He coached Little League baseball.

He graduated from Seminole High School in 1984 where he active in sports.

Cotton attended Seminole State College several years ago.

He was also a Police Explorer Cadet.

He was preceded in death by his father on Dec. 22, 1996.

Cotton is survived by his mother of Seminole and one brother, Brian Cotton of Lake City, Fla.

Estelle Sevilla Courtney

Woman Dies at 105

Estelle Sevilla Courtney moved to Oklahoma before it was Oklahoma.

She died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002 at her home in Konawa at the age of 105.

She moved to Mill Creek, Oklahoma at the age of 3, in 1899, from Georgia.

"She remembers when Oklahoma became a state," said her daughter, May Bell of Oklahoma City.

"They moved to Konawa in 1911.

"They had dirt streets and boards for the sidewalks.

"They had wells but no running water," Bell continued.

"And they didn’t have a refrigerator so they used an ice box and blocks of ice to keep their food cold.

"Her grandfather was a doctor and he would have to make house calls in the middle of the night during winter.

"Her grandmother would line his coat with newspapers for a windbreaker and heat bricks to put in the floor board of his horse-drawn buggy," she added.

Courtney was born July 2, 1896 in Augusta, Ga. to John and Francis "Fannie" (Dye) Anderson.

She married Homer Wade Courtney on April 25, 1920 in Konawa.

He preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 1961.

Courtney was a member of First United Methodist Church in Konawa, Eastern Star, Progressive Study Club, Charter Member of American Legion Auxiliary, and was the first president of the Band Mothers Club.

"When she was 94, she got pulled over at 4 a.m. for going 35 in a 25," her daughter said.

"She told the police officer she president of the American Legion auxiliary and she going down there to cook breakfast for the veterans.

"The policeman didn’t believe her so she told him to follow her down there.

"They got and she got out her keys and unlocked the door and showed him the tables that were set up and invited him to come back for breakfast in a few hours."

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.

She is survived by two sons, Edward Courtney of Del City and Milton Courtney of Konawa; two daughters, May Marie Bell of Oklahoma City and June Skaggs of Oklahoma City; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pickard Swearingen Funeral Chapel.

Rev. Pam Shirk is set to officiate.

Burial is to follow at Konawa City Cemetery under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.

Roxie Ann Cranfield

Funeral services for Roxie Ann Cranfield are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.

Rev. Kenneth Stafford is set to officiate.

Burial is to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Cranfield died Friday, June 14, 2002 at her home in Seminole at the age of 69.

She moved to Seminole from Oklahoma City 25 years ago.

She was born Jan. 26, 1933 in Oklahoma City to Grover Cleveland and Edna Ruth (Warren) Ivers.

Cranfield married Chester Cranfield on June 10, 1950 in Oklahoma City.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Danny Arthur Cranfield in 2001; one grandson, Kirk William Cranfield; two brothers and one sister.

Cranfield is survived by her husband of the home; one adopted son, Sammy Ivers of Prague; two daughters, Leanna Tiger of Seminole and Roxann Ginn of Sitka, Ala.; one brother, Warren Ivers of Tacoma, Wash.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Casket bearers are James Tiger, Mike Tiger, James Tiger Jr., Van Ethridge, Michael Johnson and David Cranfield.

Vesta Cranor

Funeral services for Vesta Laural Bryant Watson Cranor are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Historic Strothers Chapel in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Cranor died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002 at Hearthstone Assisted Living Center in Coppell, Texas at the age of 93.

She was born July 28, 1908 in Hinton to J.W. and Hattie Bryant.

She graduated from Roff High School on May 27, 1926.

Cranor married Cledys R. Watson on June 12, 1927 in Ada.

He preceded her in death in 1941.

She married Hal G. Cranor on Sept. 28, 1951 in Oklahoma City, where she lived until 2000.

Cranor then moved to Hearthstone Assisted Living Center in Coppell, Texas.

She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.

She remained active and involved in the church until her health began to deteriorate.

Cranor was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Homer Bryant; numerous half brothers and sisters; both of her husbands; two sons, Milton Riley Watson and Donald Preston Watson; and one great-granddaughter, Alisha Watson.

She is survived by two stepsons, Bud Cranor and Jim Cranor; four grandchildren, Steve Watson of Bombay, India, Milton R. Watson of Coppell, Texas, Kirk P. Watson of Austin, Texas, and Kyle C. Watson of San Antonio, Texas; several stepgrandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Riverside Church of Christ Building fund, 150 East Beltline Road, Coppell, Texas 75019.

Opal M. Cravens

KONAWA – Graveside funeral services for former Konawa resident Opal M. Cravens are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Konawa City Cemetery.

Rev. Ben Manis is set to officiate.

He is to be assisted by Rev. Wayne Thompson.

Services are under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.

Cravens died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002 at Southpark Health Care Center in Oklahoma City after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.

She was 87.

She was born July 7, 1914 in Konawa to John and Mary Alice (James) Morrison.

Cravens married R.C. "Nig" Cravens on Dec. 23, 1933 in Konawa.

She helped her husband run a service station in Konawa for 35 years.

After her husband’s death, she went to work at the local drug store in Konawa.

Cravens was also a homemaker.

She was a longtime member of the Nazarene Church in Konawa and was a member of the Konawa Home Demonstration Club for over 35 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on May 4, 1967; five sisters, Maudie, Cora, Oma, Geneva and Emma; and two brothers, John and Bert Morrison.

Cravens is survived by two sons, Dean Cravens and Bob Cravens, both of Oklahoma City; one sister, Gladys Langford; and four grandchildren.

Andrew Crockett

Funeral services for Andrew Crockett are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Macedonia Baptist Church.

Elder H. Huffman of Huffman Pentecostal Temple of Vernon is set to officiate.

Burial is to follow at Westwood Cemetery under the direction of Myers Mortuary.

Crockett died Saturday, May 4, 2002 at Norman Regional Hospital at the age of 65.

He was born May 31, 1936 in the Nobletown Community in Wewoka.

He worked as a truck driver in Seminole County for ten years before retiring.

Crockett was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church where he was a deacon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Lula (Charles) Crockett; one brother, Lee; and two sisters, Anna Payne and Corine Thomas.

He is survived by his wife, Ella Crockett of Wewoka; two daughters, Olivia Jones and Faylene Peters, both of Wewoka; two sons, Elbert and Delbert Thomas, both of Oklahoma City; three brothers, Jim Nutt, Elmer Crockett, and Bud Crockett, all of Wewoka; one sister, Polly Gentry of Wewoka; and 33 grandchildren.
