Pedro Luna

Funeral services for Wewoka High School alumni Pedro B. Luna, are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Guardian West Funeral Chapel in Oklahoma City.

Burial will follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City.

Luna died on Feb. 12, 2003 in Oklahoma City.

He was born on Jan. 1, 1912 in Merida, Philippines.

Luna went to Wewoka High School, then OCU, graduating with a BA and MA.

He taught at OU from 1939 to 1941.

Luna served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines during World War II.

He retired from the U.S. Post Office in 1983 after 37 years.

Luna was a longtime member of the Bethany First Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by his wife, Maria, of the home; two daughters, Ingrid and Ruthie; one son, Peter; and six grandchildren.

Margaret Lynch

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident, Margaret R. Lynch, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. April 16 at Swearingen Funeral Home.

Lynch died April 13, 2003 at the age of 92 at Seminole Estates Nursing Home.

She was born on June 3, 1910 to Frederick Howell and Clara Olive Doxsee in Verden.

She was married to Fred Lynch on October 28, 1932 in Perry.

She was a retired school teacher in Arcadia and worked as a bookkeeper at M&K Oilwell Cementing in Seminole for 25 years.

She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Seminole.

She was also a member of the Verrenia Flower Club and Bridge Club in Seminole, was active in UMW, past president of the Weddidng Ring Classs at the First United Methodist Church and attended the Women’s College in Chickasha.

She was preced in death by her parents and her husband, Fred Lynch in 1998.

Pall bearers are Roman Pena, Mark Thorton, Eddie Cowan, Robbie Cowan, and Mark Howell.

Honorary bearers are Bruce Brundage and Bill Parsons.

Special thanks to Jeanie Colwell and Bruce and Marie Brundage.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews which include Charolette Lynch Henderson of Kingwood Texas, Mary Beth Lynch Payne of Dallas, James Graham and Betty Jo Graham of Nyssa, Ore., Patricia Lynch Askins of Dallas, Helen Marie Lynch Cook of Camden, Ark., Johnny Joe Lynch Matthews of Little Rock, Ark., Bob Story of Atoka, Marie Brundage of Prague, Helen Cleo Tilley of Riverton, Wyo., Mary Nell Berlin of Shreveport, La., Norma Jean Holt of Kingwood, Texas, Kathryn Hosner of Watauga, Texas, Annamae Feldkamp of Sylvan Grove, Kan., Orpha Marie Lessly of Oklahoma City, John Edward Howell Cady of Fruitland, Idaho, Frederick Martin Howell of Oakdale Calif., Clara Beth Howell Cady of Olympia, Wash., Denzil L. Howell of McCoy of Ironside, Ore., Virgina Peters of Edmond, Joe Pat Martin of Fort. Worth, Texas, A. Ray Howell of Piedmont, Ralph Doxsee Howell of Carrollton, Texas, Evelyn Howell Bell of Austin, Texas, Barbara Howell Tatum of Mesquite, Texas, Alta Loma Howell of Tennant Gutshal of Otis Orchards, Wash., Mark Curtis Howell, and Margaret Ann Cowan of Verden, Okla.

Ennis Ray Lynch

Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident, Ennis Ray Lynch are scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, Seminole.

He died July 1, 2003, at the age of 50, in an auto accident at Little.

He was born on Aug. 21, 1952 in Seminole to Ennis James Lynch and Lorena Alice (Driskill) Lynch.

He worked for Shawnee Mills for several years and then was self-employed.

He was affiliated with the Assembly of God Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Junia Faye Dye; one brother-in-law, C.D. Houck.

He is survived by the mother of his children, Lynn Neal of Atlanta, Ga.; three sons, Ennis Ray "J.R.’ Lynch, Jr. of Stuart, Fla; Casey Ray Lynch of Seminole, currently serving in Iraq, Kevin C. Lynch of Atlanta, Ga.; Brother Charley Lynch of Seminole, two sisters, Mary Sue Poff and Shirley Houck, both of Seminole and several nieces, nephews and other family members.

Rev. Roy Robertson will officiate the service.

Interment will follow at the Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Ladosca Madkins

Funeral services for lifelong Seminole County resident, Ladosca Jean Madkins are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct 18 at Macedonia Baptist Church in Wewoka with Rev. Frank Washington officiating.

Interment will follow at the Westwood Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Myers Mortuary, Wewoka.

She died Wednesday, Oct.15, 2003, at the age of 68 at her home in Wewoka.

She was born Nov. 4, 1934, in Wewoka to Homer Lee and Castella Thompson and lived in Seminole County all of her life.

She received her education in Wewoka, attending Douglas Grade School and Douglas High School.

She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, the Socialaries Club and the Douglas Alumni Association.

She attended vocational technical school and received her certified food service certificate.

She worked at Oakwood Nursing Home for 19 years as food service supervisor.

She is survived by three sons, Delvin Thompson of Seminole, William Shaw of Wewoka and Bryce Madkins of Shawnee; three daughters, Shelley Johnson and Kelly Barkus of Wewoka and Tammie Kemp of Mesquite, Texas; two brothers, Homer Thompson Jr. of Valejo, Calif. and Alfred Thompson of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Arneitha Jones and Valerie Street of Wewoka and Willie Mae Jones of Seattle, Wash.; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Amos Calvin Maines

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident, Amos Calvin Maines, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole.

He was born on Sept 6, 1918 in Panola County, Texas to A.M. Maines and Effie (Copeland) Maines.

He was married to Delphia O. (Webber) Maines on Oct. 8, 1965 in Seminole.

He was a retired bus driver and maintenance from Columbine School.

He was a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Tecumseh and was an ordained minister.

Casket bearers are Curtis W. Thomas, Mike Smithee, Jack Webber, Matt Webber, George Guffey and Dewayne Lemmings.

His parents preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Delphia Maines of the home; two sons, Jerry Maines of California and Dan Maines of Alabama; two step sons, Bill Howard of Nevada and Mike Howard of Texas; one daughter, Katy Shephard of California; one step daughter, Barbara Thomas of New Mexico; one brother, Ben Maines of Longview, Texas; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Officiating the service will be Mack Pearcy.

Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

James Orphis Manry

Graveside services for former Seminole resident, James Orphis Manry are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, at the Little Cemetery, north of Seminole.

He died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at the age of 91 at his home in Shawnee.

He was born July 14, 1912, in Fulton County, Ark. to Walter R. and Maude D. (Short) Manry.

He was married to Elydia M. Robertson on Sept. 17, 1936 in Seminole County.

He was a farmer and rancher and a member of Sharon Baptist Church.

He lived in the Prairie Valley Community in Seminole County prior to 1975.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bradford Manry.

He is survived by his wife, Elydia Manry of the home; one daughter, Myrna Dell of Bethany; two granddaughters; four great grandchildren; one brother, Clifford Manry of Larned, Kan.; and two sisters, Le Mosey of Salem, Ark and Vickie Nitch of Lawrence, Kan.

Memorials may be sent to the Sharon Baptist Church Fund.

Rev. Clint Dawkins will officiate the services.

Interment will be under the direction of Walker Funeral Home, Shawnee.

James Alton Marcum II

The son of a Seminole woman has died in Greyson, La., at the age of 33.

James Alton Marcum II died April 26, 2003, after a short illness; he was the son of Sara McVay, Seminole.

Marcum was born March 7, 1969, in Baltimore, Md.

He was raised as a "Navy brat" by his grandfather, James Alton Marcum, as he transferred from duty station to duty station.

He settled in Louisiana, where he married his wife, Donnie Fay Marcum, and drove big rigs for various companies.

In addition to his wife, of the home, his mother and grandfather of Seminole, other survivors include two brothers, Paul W. Clift and Kenneth W. Clift, both of Seminole.

He was cremated and interred in Columbia, La.

Junior Jeff Mariott

Funeral services for Seminole native Junior Jeff Mariott, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Christ in Seminole.

Chris Stinnett will officiate the services.

Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka, under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.

Mr. Mariott died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, as a result of injuries sustained in a multiple vehicle accident south of Ada in Pontotoc County, at the age of 51.

He was born in Seminole on March 25, 1951 to Junior Mariott and Sylvia (Cauldfield) Marriott, and grew up in the Seminole County area.

Mr. Mariott graduated from Wewoka High School.

He married Darolyn Hayward on June 21, 2002, and they made their home in Holdenville.

Mr. Mariott was currently ermployed by Tyson Industries in Holdenville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Mariott is survived by his wife, Darolyn, of the home; his sons, Paul, Keith, and Melvin Mariott, all of Wewoka; one step-son, Larry Wagner, El Reno; two step-daughters, Kelle Wagner, Holdenville, and Christina Muir, El Reno; four grandchildren, Joshua O’Neil Mariott, Breasha Mariott, Qualen Mariott, and Savanna Stiffler; one step-grandson, Jonathan Wagner; one brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Sherry Mariott, Wewoka; two nephews, Jeremiah and Justin; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be notified by Monday.
