Donna Hilton

Graveside services for former Seminole resident, Donna Sue Hilton, of Oklahoma City were scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 2 with Rev. W.F. Crow officiating.

Interment will follow at the Dale Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh.

Hilton died Friday, Feb. 27, 2004, at the age of 55 in Oklahoma City.

She was born July 22, 1948, in Shawnee to Dwight Thompson and Charlene Rose (Parsons) Roberson.

She was a 1967 graduate of Seminole High School and attended business college in Oklahoma City.

She lived in Shawnee until she was 12 years of age, moving to Seminole until 1968.

She then moved to Oklahoma City where she has resided since 1968.

Hilton worked with the Department of Human Services for 20 years before retiring.

She was a member of the Baptist Church and enjoyed collecting antique tea pots and playing bingo.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by one son, Robert Roberson of Oklahoma City, one daughter, Melisa Lemke of Oklahoma City, two sisters, Patricia Phillips of Ada and Jennifer Keefer of Norman; two brothers, Melvin Roberson of Harrah and Phillip Roberson of Oklahoma City; and numerous other family members.

Neva B. Himes

Memorial services are scheduled for former longtime Seminole resident Neva B. Himes for 10 a.m. Thursday at University Village in Tulsa.

Interment is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery under the direction of Freeman-Harris Funeral Home of Tulsa.

Himes, 97, died Nov. 30, 2004 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. She was born March 7, 1907 at Marsden to William and Cordelia Bollen.

She grew up in Marsden and Guthrie and in 1928 married Byron Ervyl Himes. They moved to Seminole in 1931 where they were active members of The First United Methodist Church for many years.

Neva taught school in Seminole and later worked for Amerada Petroleum Company. Her husband died in 1992 and she moved to University Village in Tulsa in 1994. She loved people and will be missed by her many friends in Tulsa, Seminole and elsewhere.

She is survived by two sons, Joe W. Himes and his wife Erma who live in Roanoke, Va., and Gerald G. (Jerry) Himes and his wife Johnna of Tulsa.

Himes also has five grandchildren: Janis Snyder and Jamie Ward of Tulsa, Dr. Joe E. Himes of Clever, Mo., Kendall Preas and Kerry Irvin of Roanoke, Va.; a favorite sister-in-law, Kathryn Myles of Spokane, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews. Seven great-grandchildren also survive her.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be directed to University Village, 8555 S. Lewis, Tulsa.

Ronald Hitchcock

Graveside services for Ronald Wayne Hitchcock, husband of a former Seminole resident, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13 at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole.

Rev. Nolan Sluder and Donnie Linde will officiate the service under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Hitchcock died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at the age of 53 at his home in Tecumseh.

He was born Oct. 16, 1951, in Tulsa to Clyde A. Hitchcock and Bobbie Ruth (Marsh).

He graduated from Norman High School in 1969 and from Seminole Junior College.

He moved to Tecumseh from Norman in 1973.

He married Lana Colette (Hack) Hitchcock, from Seminole, on Aug. 4, 1973 in Shawnee.

Hitchcock worked as a clerk for Phillips 66, worked for Kayo Oil Company and McDonald’s Corporation.

He was of the Methodist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde A. Hitchcock and stepfather, Bob Linde.

He is survived by his mother, Bobbie Ruth Linde of Tulsa; wife, Lana Hitchcock, of the home; three sons, John William Hitchcock of Ponca City and Sky Kaylon Hitchcock and Aaron Thomas Hitchcock, both of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Donald Linde of Tulsa and Robert Linde Jr. of Dallas, Texas; four sisters, Sondra Bostwick of Norman, Peggy Hoppensted of Dallas, Texas, Hazel Cox of Seattle Wash., and Janet Tyler of Tulsa; and six grandchildren.

James Ahtone Holata

Funeral services for Seminole County resident, James Ahtone Holata, Wewoka, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Sand Creek Eufaula Baptist Church.

He passed away at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, on July 15, 2003.

He was born November 18, 1932, in Holdenville, to Wileya and Martha Holata.

He attended Justice School and Culinary Art School at Oklahoma State A&M in 1962.

He was in the U.S. Army, serving in Korea, Vietnam, and Desert Storm.

He was employed by Veterans Administration Hospital, in Oklahoma City, and retired in 1991, after 30 years.

After returning to Wewoka in 1992, he was employed by the Wewoka Food Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wileya and Martha Holata, one daughter, Corly Holata, one grandson, two brothers, Whitney Holata, and Tony Holata.

He is survived by five daughters, Janice Holata Bailey, Okmulgee, Lizanne Holata, Morris, Jamie Holata, Okmulgee, Barbra Lane, Henryetta, and Mary Holata, Okmulgee; one brother, Wayne Holata, Wewoka; one sister, Esther Holata, Seminole; two aunts; one uncle; 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

The body will be moved to Sand Creek Eufaula Baptist Church on Thursday, July 17, at 4 p.m.

Wake services will be held at 7:30 p.m., Thursday evening, July 17, at the church.

Pallbearers will be Ron Holata, Erwin Holata, Josh Holata, James Holata, Mark Holata, and Matt Holata.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Bailey, Jr., John Holata, Eugene Endres, Ethan Endres, Jerry Holata, and Alex Taylor.

Rev. Houston Tiger and Rev. Steve Holata will be officiating the service.

Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

James Holland

Memorial services for former longtime Seminole resident, James Leroy Holland are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, March 20 in Midwest City at the Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home located at 8805 NE 23rd Street in Oklahoma City.

Graveside services will be held at Resthaven Memorial Cemetery in Seminole at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, under the direction of the Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home in Midwest City.

He died March 16, 2004, at the age of 63 at Midwest Medical Center in Midwest City.

He was born Feb. 26, 1941, in Vinita to Raymond and Alice (Risenhoover) Holland.

He married Patricia Ann Holland, his wife of 40 years, on Sept 7, 1963 in Seminole

He was a 1959 graduate of Seminole High School and worked for the Seminole Producer from 1955-1959.

He Retired from Tinker Air Force Base after 37 years and from the Oklahoma National Guard, Seminolue Unit after 27 years.

He was a Seminole Boy Scout Leader for 13 years, Seminole Little League baseball coach and commissioner for six years and introduced the use of the pitching machine to T-ball.

Holland was a charter member of the Seminole Evening Lions Club.

He is survived by two children, Robert Jay Holland and Chris Holland; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers, Chester Holland and Dennis Holland; and one sister, Patricia Price.

Viola Holloway

Funeral services for Seminole County resident, Viola M. Holloway of Wewoka are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, April 5 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. B.G. Renfro officiating.

Interment will follow at Westwood Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Myers Mortuary of Wewoka.

Holloway died Thursday, April 1, 2004, at the age of 60 at Integris Baptist Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 19, 1943, in Wetumka to Ollie Jack and Carrie M. Holloway.

She attended school at Douglas Schools in Wewoka where she lived most of her life.

She served as an advisor for Boys and Girls Club, Band Booster at Wewoka High School, Cub Scout leader, Member of NAACP, voter registration, civic organizer and was a member of several civic organizations.

Holloway was employed by the Wewoka Public Schools for 33 years.

She served on the Missionary Board at Park United Methodist and also as church clerk.

Holloway later joined the First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary.

She was married to Martin C. Holloway.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Martin C. Holloway of the home, two sons, Calvin Holloway of Austin, Texas and Mike Holloway of Oklahoma City; three daughters, Juanita Holloway of Richardson, Texas, Vernita Holloway of Oklahoma City and Janice Mitchell of Guthrie; four brothers, Joe Minter and Kenny Minter, both of Pal Alto, Calif., Robert Minter of Los Angeles, Calif. and James Minter of Oklahoma City; and one sister, Laura Stephens of Oklahoma City.

Bruce L. Hood

Bruce Lamont Hood, 68, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at Haskell County Hospital in Stigler.

He was born in Ada to Norma Hood and John Preston Hood.

He was the nephew of Louise Lamont. Both his mother and aunt were beloved schoolteachers at Seminole High School.

An authority on the philosophy, history, and practice of teaching, he was a Professor of Education at the University of Connecticut for more than 20 years.

He received his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas, where he was also an Assistant Professor of Education.

He was a visiting instructor at Kansas State University and a Professor of Education at the University of California, Los Angeles, before joining the University of Connecticut faculty in 1967.

Retiring in 1990, he returned to his native Oklahoma, living in Seminole and Norman, before settling in Stigler seven years ago.

He is survived by his children, Susan Rae Hood of Hartford, Conn., Jeffrey Lamont Hood of Galt, Calif., and James Bradley Hood of Homer, Ark.; grandsons Jacob and Aaron Hood of Galt, Calif.; half-siblings John David Hood, Jim Hood, and Patsy Jeffress, all of Colorado; and cousins Jack, Kent, and Janine (nee) Lamont.

He was predeceased by his parents and aunt.

As he requested, there was no memorial service.
