Ester Horn

Funeral services for former Seminole County resident, Ester Geraldine Horn are scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 16 at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Chesser officiating.

Interment will follow services at Little Cemetery, north of Seminole, under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home of Holdenville.

Horn passed away Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, in Oklahoma City at the age of 73.

She was born November 20, 1930 in Holdenville to Burt Green and Mollie Roberts Green, she remained in the area all her life.

She attended Gum Springs Schools and on March 3, 1951 she married George Houston Horn, who preceded her in death on May 6, 2002.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Peggy Hale; and three brothers, Buddy Green, Jan Green and Jimmy Green.

Survivors include two sons, Jack Horn of Seminole and George Leon Horn of Wewoka; three daughters, Carol Miller of Tulsa, Ruby Todd Turlock, Calif. and Berniece Crane of Tacoma, Wash.; two sisters, Edna Conley and Johnnie Gatewood, both of Holdenville; and one brother, L.G. Green of Holdenville.

Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Ora "Pickens" Horn

Private Family graveside services for Wewoka resident Ora Horn, 96, will be held 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Holdenville Cemetery with Johnny Hinton officiating.

Interment will be at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Ora "Pickens" Horn died Sept. 11, 2004 at Boyce Manor Nursing Home. She was born on April 14, 1908 to Mr. and Mrs. Cass Pickens in Yale County, Ark.

Horn was raised in Yale County, Ark. where she attended school. She married Herbert Horn on Oct. 31, 1938 and they returned to Wewoka in 1946 where she lived until the time of her death.

Her parents, husband, two brothers, and three sisters precede her in death.

Son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Linda Horn of Midwest City; sister Lovie Dean of Holdenville; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends survive her.

Raymond Hoskison

Graveside funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Raymond Earl Hoskison are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Little Cemetery.

Brent Hoskison will officiate. Burial will be under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Hoskison died early today at Seminole Estates Nursing Center.

He was born March 18, 1911, in Ringland, to Samuel and Nancy (Rose) Hoskison.

He worked in construction and drove a school bus for Strother School.

He retired from the City of Seminole street department.

He married Vera Lillian Parr on July 17, 1933, in Duncan; she died Aug. 15, 1997.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include one daughter, Jean Orrell, Seminole; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Opal House

Graveside services for Seminole County native, Opal House of Baton Rouge are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2 at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka with Rev. Dennis House officiating under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.

Visiting was at 10 a.m. at the Bethel Temple Assembly of God Church and from 5-9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29 at the Welsh Funeral Home, both in Louisiana.

House died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at the age of 82 at Sherwood Manor in Baton Rouge, La.

She was born in Wewoka and later married Frank M. House.

She was a member of Bethel Temple Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank M. House in 1969.

She is survived by two daughters, Christine House and Bobbie Bonds; one son, Dennis House Sr.; one sister, Lorene Whitlock; eight grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

Kathy Householder

Graveside services for Seminole County resident, Kathy Sue Householder of Wewoka are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2004, at the Cummings Cemetery in Maud with Bro. Steve Martin officiating.

Services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home of Maud.

Householder died Sunday, June 20, 2004, at the age of 43 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

She was born July 30, 1961, in Wynnewood to Alfred Curtis Householder and Alice Mae (Owen) Householder.

She attended the Church of Christ in Seminole and Wewoka.

She moved to Wewoka 10 years ago from Kingfisher.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1998.

She is survived by her mother, Alice Householder of Maud; two brothers, Danny Householder of Oklahoma City and Daryl Householder of Maud.

Clifton Houser

Funeral services for Seminole County resident, Clifton Augustus Houser, of Wewoka, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, at the Mission Home Missionary Baptist Church with Revs. Delmar Hume and Larry Jones officiating.

Interment will be at the Oakwood Cemetery at Wewoka under the direction of the Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Houser died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at the age of 90 at Seminole Medical Center.

He was born April 20, 1913, in Royal, Ark. to Charlie Riley and Roxey Rosella (Echols) Houser.

He moved to Wewoka in 1927, where he attended Sams School.

He married Dortha Jane Moreland on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, 1935 at Wewoka.

He worked as a farmer and was a bus driver for the Butner School System from the late 40s to the early 50s, before going to work for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company.

He retired from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation Division in 1978.

He was a member of Mission Home Missionary Baptist Church, north of Wewoka, where he was saved and baptized in 1934.

He served as church trustee for several years and as a Sunday school teacher from the 1950s to the late 1990s.

He was selected Cattleman of the Year in 1997 by the Seminole County Cattlemen Association.

He volunteered at the Wewoka Sorghum Days Festival for 24 years, feeding cane into the sorghum mill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Roxey Houser Keys; step-father, Jim Keys; one great grandson, Bryce Maylen; six brothers, Roy Houser, H.C. "Pete" Keys, Leslie Houser, W.K. "Rusty" Houser, Milton Keys and Luther Keys; and two sisters, Lois Sullivan and Mada Factor.

Houser is survived by his wife, Dortha Jane Houser and his son, Dan Hosuer and wife, Phyllis of Wewoka; one daughter, June Tate and husband, Burney of Lima, Peru; one sister, Ernestine Payne of Tecumseh; three sisters-in-law, Gertrude Houser of Moore, Birdie Houser of Denison, Texas and Virginia Houser of Ulysess, Kan.; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons and great-grandsons, Steven Tate, Stanley Tate, Butch Houser, Breven Williams, Troy Tate, Travis Tate and Riley Maylen.

Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Mission Home Missionary Baptist Church.

A memorial fund has been set up in the name of Clifton A. Houser at the Mission Home Missionary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1318, Wewoka, 74884.

James Howard

Graveside funeral services for James Franklin Howard, 69, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at the family cemetery at Little River Mission.

Redmond Wolf Sr. will officiate. Burial will be under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Howard died March 2 at his home at Little River Mission.

He was born July 8, 1934 in Spanish Fort, Texas, to Wheeler Thomas and Jessie Evelyn (Fox) Howard.

He served in the US Navy and moved to Seminole County 12 years ago from Midland, Texas.

He was a retired oilfield worker and a member of First Baptist Church in Midland.

He was also a member of the Moose and Elks lodges.

His wife, Marjorie, died Feb. 14, 1995.

He is also preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include one son, Jesse Thomas Howard of Levelland, Texas, and four grandchildren.

Thurman Howell

Funeral services for Seminole resident, Thurman Edward Howell are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23 at the Church of Christ at Little, north of Seminole.

Rusty Dawson will officiate the services.

Interment will follow at the Pontotoc Cemetery in Pontotoc.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Howell died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at the age of 91 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

He was born June 27, 1912, in Honey Grove, Texas to Theodore Melton Howell and Birdie Lee (Atkinson) Howell.

He married Velma Lee (Whelchel) Howell on Aug. 20, 1940, in Ada.

Howell retired from Ideal Cement Plant in Ada in 1960 and moved from Roff to Seminole in 1974.

He is a member of the Church of Christ at Little.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Velma Lee (Whelchel) Howell of the home; three daughters, Thurma Nell Howell and Carol Fay Howell, both of Seminole and Shirley Ann (Howell) Crawford of Edmond; one sister, Ima Fay Decker of Denver, Colo.; four grandchildren, Ron, Robert and Blake Crawford and Shoba (Howell) Lindsey; and seven great grandchildren.

Casket bearers will be Ron, Robert and Blake Crawford, Gary Lindsey, James and John Whelchel.
