Jimmy Welch

Funeral services for Jimmy Wayne Welch are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father McSherry and Deacon Dennis R. Frazier officiating.

Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wetumka Cemetery with Rev. Larry Chesser officiating.

Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville.

Welch, 54, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2006 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was born Nov. 19, 1951 south of Wetumka near the Horntown community to John Lloyd and Grace "Tippin" Welch.

He was raised in the Horntown community and graduated from Moss High School in 1970. Welch then graduated from East Central State University in Ada in 1978 with a bachelor’s degree in environmental science and was on the Dean’s Honor List.

Welch was employed at the Oklahoma State Department of Central Services for 25 years and then owned and operated Welch Consultating.

On April 11, 2003 he married Pamela Garrity and was a member of the Masons and the India Masonic Shrine Temple in Oklahoma City.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and Nascar racing.

His parents and one brother, Ralph L. Welch preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife, Pamela Welch of the home and five siblings, Rena Pitts of Holdenville, Rosalee Mulanax of Weatherford, Texas, Roy Welch of Horntown, Ruth Reich of Wewoka and David Welch of Katy, Texas.

In lieu of flowers the family has suggested donation be sent to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 2121 N. Portland, Oklahoma City, OK 73107 in his memory.

Troy Welch

Funeral services for lifelong Bowlegs area resident Troy E. Welch are scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday at the First Assembly of God Church in Bowlegs with Rev. Roy Robertson officiating.

Interment is to follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Seminole under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Welch, 68, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006 at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City. He was born May 20, 1938 to Ernest William and Beatrice Othela (Campbell) Welch in Shawnee.

On Feb. 6, 1955 he married Norma D. Hilton in Seminole and has worked in the oilfield for the past 20 years as a self-employed pumper.

He is a member of the Bowlegs First Assembly of God Church.

His parents, one brother, Walter Danyear Welch and one sister, Ethel Sexton preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife of the home; three sons, Troy Dewayne Welch of Seminole, Daniel Lee Welch of Seminole and William Douglas Welch of Ponca City; three daughters, Deborah Cecil of Bowlegs, Denorma Phillips of Maud, Angel Dianne Welch of Bowlegs; two brothers, Leroy Welch of Earlsboro and Clifford Welch of Indiana; one sister, Viola Hopkins of Shawnee; 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Dewayne Welch, Daniel Welch, Doug Welch, Silas Welch, Steve Welch and Timmy Gentry.

Honorary bearers will be Matthew Welch, Jeremy Welch, Marcus Welch, Tony Gentry, Billy Cecil, Joe Doyle, Christopher gentry, Jordan Welch, Gene Welch, Teri Gentry and Kaylin Welch.

Roland Wells

Funeral services for longtime Wewoka resident Roland Oscar Wells are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Carson Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Black and Rev. Larry Chesser officiating.

Interment will follow at Carson cemetery under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home, Wetumka.

Roland passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2006 at his home at the age of 91. He was born Sept. 8, 1914 in Hanna, Okla. to Oscar L. and Edith A. (Wallace) Wells.

He spent the early years of his childhood in Hanna and as a child he later moved with his family to the Dustin area, where he attended Carson and Lamar schools.

Roland entered the United States Army and honorably served his country during Word War II.

On April 6, 1946 he married Louise Robison in Holdenville. They made their home in Carson where they farmed.

Later they relocated to Texas for several years where he worked in the oil fields. The couple then returned to the Wewoka area around 1970, but would move back and forth before finally settling in Wewoka in 1999.

Roland worked for the Sunray Oil Company and stayed throughout their changes before retiring in 1972.

His hobbies included spending time with his grandchildren and telling them stories. Family was a very important to Roland.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wetumka.

His parents and his brothers, James and Jess preceded him in death.

Roland is survived by his wife, Louise of the home; four sons, Dickie Wells of Pampa, Texas, David Wells and wife Tina of McCamey, Texas, Henry Wells and wife Mary of Wewoka and James Wells of Henryetta; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dave Wells of Eufaula and Pete Wells of Ft. Gibson; four sisters, Rosemary Western of Norman, Pauline Huddleson of Wetumka, Ruth Stranger of Okmulgee and Carolyn McNeil of Turpin and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers for the services will be Dickie Wells, David Wells, Henry Wells, Sr., James Wells, Henry Wells, Jr., Brad Nickels and Michael Paul.

Carmen Werrell

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Carmen V. Werrell are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Amanda Lockwood officiating.

She will be laid to rest at IOOF Cemetery in Norman on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Carmen passed away Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006 at the age of 92 in Tulsa. She was born Sept. 14, 1914 in Moore to Thomas James and Florence (Richardson) Hall.

On June 10, 1939 she married Ira Luther "Red" Werrell and was a member of the Bowlegs Methodist Church.

Carmen was a retired elementary school teacher at Pleasant Grove for many years and also taught water aerobics at Seminole Junior College until she was 87.

Her parents and husband (Jan. 27, 1998) preceded her in death.

Surviving are her nephews and nieces, Larry Kuhlman of Columbus, Texas, Nancy Eamelos of Tulsa, Jerry Kuhlman of West Milford, N.J. and Richard Holmes of Tulsa.

Robert West Jr

Wake services for Seminole resident Robert "Smiley" West Jr. are scheduled for 6:30 tonight at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Shawnee.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Seminole Baptist Church in Konawa.

Services are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

West, 44, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006 at OU Medical Center. He was born Aug. 5, 1962 in Pawnee to Robert and Mary Lou (Morgan) West.

He was a member of the Seminole Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking out, playing horseshoes, ice cream, music and spending time with his family.

His parents, grandparents, Willie and Hester West, Alex and Joan Burgess and Emma Foster and one sister, Lucille McGirt preceded him in death.

Surviving are his children, Robert West III and Ricky West; siblings, Ron West, Carolyn West, Marilee Jones, Willette Walker, Kenneth Lindsey, Joyce Gelino, May west, Ryan West and Theresa Stephens and one grandchild.

Nellie Westbrook

Graveside services for longtime Seminole area resident Nellie M. Westbrook are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Little Cemetery with Dan Ransom to officiate.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Her husband, Carlton Westbrook who died Dec. 20, 2005 will be laid to rest with her at that time.

Westbrook, 88, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2006 at Seminole Medical Center. She was born May 1, 1917 in Ponotoc County with Levi Blevins and Lueaster Brown.

She married Carlton Lester Westbrook on Aug. 2, 1970 in Ft. Worth, Texas and she was a homemaker and attended of the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall of Wewoka.

Her husband Lester, her parents, and two sons, Doyle Tackett and LJ Tackett preceded her in death.

Surviving is one daughter, Wanda Turner of Seminole, 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Satema Westendorf

Funeral services for longtime Seminole County resident Satema "Mickie" Westendorf are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Achena Presbyterian Church in Maud.

Rev. Rick Harjo and Tony Chambliss are to officiate with interment to follow at Little Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Westendorf, 76 of Maud, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006 at Shawnee Care Center. She was born Dec. 27, 1929 in Seminole to Joe Factor and Minnie (Fife) Factor.

She married Robert J. Westendorf and he preceded her in death in 1980.

Westendorf performed clerical work and was a secretary. She was a member of the Creek Nation and of the Achena Presbyterian Church of Maud.

Her parents and husband preceded her in death.

Surviving are three cousins, Elsie Rabiee, Lou Deere and Louis Fife, all of Seminole and uncle, Winifred Fife of Maud.

James L. Wheeler Jr.

Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident James L. "Jimmy" Wheeler, Jr. are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday at Cement City Cemetery, Cement, Okla. with Rev. Don Stewart to officiate.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Jimmy passed away Monday, April 3, 2006 in his home at the age of 56. He was born Nov. 2, 1949 in San Antonio, Texas to James Wheeler, Sr. and Joan Wiley.

He graduated from Pampa, Texas High School in 1968 and then worked in the oilfield as a roughneck before becoming disabled in 1985.

Jimmy was a member of the Oklahoma Equestrian Trail Riders association (OETRA) and engaged to marry Joyce Ross of Seminole.

One son, James Jason Wheeler (1995) and stepmother, Cherry Wheeler (November 1999) preceded him in death.

Surviving is his father, James Wheeler, Sr. of Seminole; his mother, Joan Wiley of Holden Beach, N.C.; daughter, Jennifer Wheeler of Maryland; one brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Gloria Wheeler of Seminole; one sister and brother-in-law, Patricia "Patty" and Tom Joyce of Largo, Fla.; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
