Frances Osborne

Frances Mae (Harjo) Osborne, age 76 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Chickasaw Medical Center in Ada, Oklahoma.

A Wake service was held at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa from 6:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2016. A second Wake service is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at High Springs Church.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the church under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa. Dorsey Nero and Jimsey Harjo will officiate. Burial will follow at the Cosar Family Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Travis Hunter, Keith Billie, Rick Pemberton, R.D. Coody, Kevin Chapman, and David Farmer.

Honorary pallbearers are Skip Foster, Eddie Barnett, Walter Coker, and George Harjo.

Frances was born November 15, 1939 in Talihina, Oklahoma to Sa-che-me-che Harjo and Stella (Cosar) Harjo.

She is survived by her family, Becky Pemberton of Konawa, Oklahoma, Wanda Coody Coody of Konawa, Tonya Chapman and of Konawa, Regina Chase the Bear of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Tisha Farmer of Allen, Oklahoma, Keith Billie of Konawa; three grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sa-che-me-che and Stella Harjo; her husband, Harper Osborne; her siblings, Dora Harjo, Diane Harjo, Amos Wolf and Henderson Harjo; and by her son, Ronnie Harjo.

Reta Newman

Reta Mae (Hardin) Jarvis Newman, 81, longtime Seminole county resident, passed from this life on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at her home north of Seminole. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the Praise Center Assembly of God Church, east of Little. Pastor Chris Lee will officiate the services.

Reta was born to Benjamin Leslie Hardin and Ruby (Briggs) Hardin on October 2, 1934, near Wanette, Oklahoma. They moved from there in 1945 to 4 miles South of Ada, Oklahoma. Reta attended school at Ahloso Elementary School, then high school in Stonewall, where she was an active basketball player.

She met Leroy Jarvis at East Central College in Ada, Oklahoma, and they were married in 1952 after a short engagement. Reta moved to Little, Oklahoma where she and her husband ran a dairy, and Leroy worked for the Soil Conservation, building flood control dams in the 1950’s and 60’s. When they switched from the dairy to beef cattle operation, she went back to school and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Education from East Central in 1967. Reta taught home economics and science for Varnum and Seminole Public Schools. She was also the Administrative Assistant at the Seminole Police Department for several years.

Later, she married Dave Newman, and together they continued to run cattle on the farm west of Little. She and Dave loved to travel. She was active in the community and attended the Praise Center Assembly of God Church at Little. She was a great cook and on one occasion she even sold a coconut cream pie for $150.00 to benefit the Strother Volunteer Fire Department at Little.

Reta was the family matriarch and the hub of the cousins who depended on her as the keeper of the family history. For years she planned family reunions for both the Hardin and the Briggs families. She was a much-loved cousin.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Tess Jarvis Suter and her husband, Zachary Ryan Suter of the home; great grandson, Zachary Grant Suter of the home; her brother Jim Hardin and his wife Donna of Seminole, Oklahoma; her sister Minnie Nokes and her husband Jackson of Ada, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Bill Dulaney of Wynnewood, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Jarvis Skrdla, many cousins and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Leroy Jarvis; Dave Newman, Sister, Jean Dulaney and her son John Phillip Jarvis and two infant daughters Jena Lynn and Neta Kathryn.

Judy Neel

Julia Margaret "Judy" Neel, lifelong Seminole resident passed away, Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Midwest City, Oklahoma, at the age of 76.

Judy was born May 5, 1939, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to parents, Joseph "Joe" Peschl and Christine Nichols. She attended John Marshall High School and Wright Business School of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Judy married Earl Neel in Oklahoma City, October 26, 1958. Judy was employed at Robertson’s Ham and J. C. Penney’s.

She loved traveling, spending time with her family, watching Jeopardy, and shopping for others. She was an avid collector and a member of the E S A and Twin Oak Baptist Church of Seminole, Oklahoma.

Judy is survived by one son, Richard Neel and LaDonna of Seminole, Oklahoma; two daughters, Diane Neel and Theresa Neel, both of Seminole, Oklahoma; one brother, Don Felker of Fort McCoy, Florida; three sisters, Minna Lu Krumland and Bill of Omaha, Nebraska, Debbie Seale and Gary of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; Karen Brooks and John of Nixa, Missouri; three grandchildren, Ashley Neel, Kirsten Stevenson and husband, Matthew, and Matthew Neel. She is also survived by special friends, Vera Rammage and Joyce Williams; special daughter, Connie Robbins; special grandchildren, Levi Brown and Paige Brown.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Christine Nichols; one brother, Gary Peschl; two sisters, Joella Riddle and her husband Henry Riddle, and Juanita Cumpton and her husband Paul Cumpton.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole with Rev. Will Macsas officiating. Burial will take place at Little Cemetery, Seminole County, Oklahoma.

Serving as casket bearers are: Steve Quinalty, Larry Roper, Mark Moody, David Brown, Victor Wright, Joshua Peschl and Lee Pearson. Honorary casket bearers are the men of Twin Oak Baptist Church.

Funeral services are under the direction of Swearing Funeral Home of Seminole, Oklahoma.

Michael Moomey

Michael R. Moomey, 72 of Wewoka, Oklahoma unexpectedly passed away April 30, 2016.

Son of Robert W. Moomey and Fern (Moe) Moomey. Mike was born May 20, 1942 in Malone, N.Y. He later moved to Massena N.Y. and graduated from Massena Central High School Class in 1962.

He was a Eagle Scout. After working at Alcoa in Massena, Mike moved to California where he worked at General Motors at the Van Nuys assembly plant until his retirement. Later, he moved to Oklahoma.

He is survived by his brother, Martin Moomey, of Newburgh, N.Y.; sister Anna Moomey of Winthrop, N.Y.; niece Emily Kinnear of Mason, WA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles, nephew Luke Kinnear.

Services will be held later in New York for family and immediate friends.

Nelleta Molloy

Nelleta Phillips Molloy, 91, longtime Seminole resident, died January 18, 2016 in Seminole, Oklahoma, Nelleta was born April 14, 1924 in Seminole, to Noah Jefferson Phillips and Una (Woods) Phillips.

Nelleta was a lifelong Seminole resident and homemaker.

She married A.C. "Ace" Molloy on July 12, 1941 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, and he preceded her in death on June 22, 1999.

Nelleta is survived by her daughter Janice Houser of Latrobe, Pennsylvania and her son Pat Molloy, of Seminole, Oklahoma, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

No public services were held for Mrs. Molloy.

Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Harvey McMains

Harvey Jay McMains went to be with the Lord on December 27, 2015. Harvey was born in Oklahoma City in 1923 and spent his childhood as an Okie, graduating from Classen High School in 1941.

He went on to earn an engineering degree from the University of Texas in Austin and proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII.

Harvey's professional life was highlighted by a 28-year career at SW Bell and AT&T where he retired as a Vice President. In retirement, Harvey was a published author, a respected educator, a valued consultant and an exceptional gardener. He was particularly fond of roses.

Although Harvey had many accomplishments, his greatest was his marriage to his childhood sweetheart, Jean Adell Porter.

Harvey and Jean or Grandma and Poppee, as they are affectionately referred to by their family, were married for 70 years. They raised 3 children, Suzanne Koudelka of Camp Verde, AZ, Mary Dencker of Milton, Delaware and Larry McMains of Newcastle, OK.

Poppee is survived by his wife Jean and their 3 children, 11 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by many friends and family members and 2 great-grandchildren.

William McCuan

Funeral services for William Edward McCuan will be held Thursday, January 7, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah. Interment will follow at the Little Cemetery in Seminole County, Oklahoma.

William Edward McCuan went to his Heavenly home on January 3, 2016 in Midwest City, Oklahoma. He was born to James Arthur and Iva Mae (James) McCuan on March 16, 1927 in Watson, Oklahoma.

Mr. McCuan spent most of his childhood growing up in Oregon and New Mexico where he began working in the saw mills at an early age. He did civilian duties during WWII at Alamogordo, New Mexico and later moved to California where he met and married Ruth Louise Morphis. They were married June 23, 1953 in

San Joaquin, California. It was there that he began a lifelong love for operating heavy equipment. He worked as head repairman at Cal Portland Cement Plant for 10 years. After moving to Oklahoma he worked for Seminole County and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.

He retired from there after 20 plus years of employment. Mr. McCuan was a member of the Talladega Masonic Lodge where he served as grand mater two times. He was very creative with everything he attempted to make of fix. The things that he loved the most was his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, and his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Wanda Louise McCuan and one brother, Fred McCuan.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ruth Louise McCuan of the home; two daughters, Eva Woodruff and husband David of Cromwell, Oklahoma and Tina Wilcox and husband Mike of Cromwell, Oklahoma; two brothers, Junior McCuan and wife Betty of West Monroe, Louisiana and Robert McCuan and wife Charlotte of Fresno, California; two grandchildren, Jonathan and Jessie Woodruff both of Cromwell, Oklahoma and five great-grandchildren, Tyler Woodruff, Haylie Wheeler, Kalab Woodruff, Wyatt George and Sydnie George.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Jonathan Woodruff, Tyler Woodruff, Justin George, Brian Morphis, Mike Morphis and Tim Morphis.

Honorary bearers include Kalab Woodruff, Wyatt George, Wayne Morris, Donald Morphis and David Morphis.

Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah and officiated by Rev. Andy Young and assisted by Ruby York.

Ruby McClanahan

Ruby Lynn (Williams) McClanahan, 36 year old Tecumseh, Oklahoma resident and former Seminole resident went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 31, 2016 surrounded by family and friends following a battle with cancer.

She was born November 27, 1979 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to parents Marie Francis (Keck) Williams and Harold Rudolph "Rudy" Williams.

Ruby graduated from McLoud High School in 1997. She worked as a CNA and a Homecare provider.

On October 15, 2012 Ruby married Brent E. McClanahan in Lexington, Oklahoma.

Ruby was a member of the Church of God in Maud, Oklahoma.

Survivors include her husband, Brent McClanahan of the home in Tecumseh, Oklahoma; her mother, Marie Williams of Cayce, South Carolina; 3 sons, Gage Bickel of Cayce, South Carolina, Tyler E. Watson of Oklahoma, Landon Ford Eugene McClanahan of the home; 2 daughters, Macie Renee McClanahan of the home and Kyndrea Belle McClanahan of the home; 4 brothers, James "Jimmy" Williams of Bryant, Alabama, Rudy Williams Jr of Oklahoma, George Williams of Harrah, Oklahoma, Glenn Williams of Oklahoma; 4 sisters, Joann (Williams) Smothers of Cayce, South Carolina, Eva Williams of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Carolyn Williams of San Fidel, New Mexico, Carrie Williams of Oklahoma; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Ruby was preceded in death by her father Rudy Williams in 2001 and by one brother, Richard Williams.

Visitation will be held from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2016 and from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 3, 2016 at the Church of God located at 600 W. Main Street in Maud, Oklahoma with Pastor Dan Kasper officiating the service. Interment will follow at Council Creek Cemetery.

Casket Bearers will be: Brent McClanahan, Gage Bickel, Jimmy Williams, Little Jimmy Williams, Jeremy Bullock, and Blaize Blankenship.

Honorary Bearers will be: Jessie Williams, Josh Williams, and Tracey Travis.

The family request that donations be sent to the Church of God at P.O. Box 190 Maud, Oklahoma 74854 in Memory of Ruby (Williams) McClanahan.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.

John McCartlin

John Bryant McCartlin, 52 year old, Shawnee, Oklahoma resident passed from this life on Monday, January 18, 2016 at Norman Regional Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma. He was born December 26, 1964 in Dallas, Texas to parents Glen McCartlin and Maggie (Smith) McCartlin.

The family will receive friends at Swearingen Funeral Home, Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., January 19, 2016.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Rev. Bill Barnett and Father Paul Zahel O.S.B. officiating the service. Interment will be at Vamoosa Cemetery located south of Seminole.

Prudie McCabe

Prudie Mae (Ramage) McCabe, 82, of Mesa, AZ passed away on February 17, 2016. She was born on December 31, 1933 in Seminole Oklahoma to Willis and Meadie (Mitchell) Ramage.

She married her high school sweetheart Douglas J McCabe in Seminole on August 22, 1952.

She leaves behind her husband Douglas, her son Douglas Jr (Sharon) McCabe, her daughter Melody (Douglas) Laubach, 2 sisters Edna Hudson and Sheila (Bob) Lanning. She is also survived by her 3 grandsons Chris and Matt McCabe and Travis Laubach, 4 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Armalee Payne-Vincent, a brother WL Ramage, a nephew James Payne, and a niece Tricia Lawrence.

Prudie graduated from Seminole High School in 1952. She and Doug made their home in Arizona since 1960. Prudie was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She had a great love of reading, genealogy and her dachshunds.
