Bulena Brannon

Bulena Marie Brannon, 91 year old longtime, Pottawatomie County resident, passed from this life on Sunday, December 27, 2015 in Los Angeles, California. She was born June 22, 1924 in Arizona to parents Robert Brannon and Nellie Jane (Enis) Brannon.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 14, at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Interment will follow at Earlsboro Cemetery in Earlsboro, Oklahoma.

Bulena Brannon

Bulena "Beauty" Brannon, transitioned peacefully surrounded by family at her side on December 27, 2015 in Los Angeles, California.

She was born June 22, 1924 to Robert and Nellie Brannon. She married Herman Stillwell who preceded her in death.

She volunteered at local polling locations and supported Voters Rights.

In accordance to her wishes, she was flown to her hometown in the state of Oklahoma and buried in Earlsboro Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Barbara Ann and Ollie as well as her granddaughter Lisa Brannon/Burress.

She is survived by a granddaughter, Four great-grandchildren as well as a sister Juanita Brannon and many nieces, nephews, cousins, sister in law and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 14 at 1 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, OK.

Donna Bowers

Donna Bowers passed from this life on May 15, 2016. Donna was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 11, 1958 to Roy and Jennie (Harper) Bowers. She moved to Wewoka in 1970 and graduated from Wewoka High School in 1976 and Seminole Jr. College in 1983 with an Associates in Business Technology. She was employed during her life at Nichols Supermarket, Wrangler, and the Seminole Nation from 1987 to 1998 and 2005 to 2013.

Donna is survived by her sister Brandi Crawford of Greeley, CO., and her niece Mariah Crawford of Tulsa, OK. She is also survived by her aunts; Louise Horton of Wewoka and Florence Harper of Tulsa, cousins; which were more like her brothers and sisters, and her very special cousins, Heather Horton Duvall and Madeline Duvall.

She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and her uncles; Herman Harper, Ethan Harper, and John Brown, Aunts; Eleanor Harper, Edith Brown, Lucille Gibson and her dear cousins; Sam Horton, Brad Horton and David Shurley as well as many dear friends. What a reunion this will be.

Donna made friends throughout the years from school, work, church, and community. She was blessed for those that she fussed, laughed, and traveled through life with. Her thanks to her family and special friends that helped her out during her declining health, and special love to my cousins; Karen Shurley, Anna Harper, Robert Horton, Jared Horton, Beverly Horton and family, Paula Whitlock and family, Sheila Egge and family, James Wells and family, Lisa Findlays family, Marilyn Davis, and Pastor Jeff and Naoma Nance and our church family.....thank you for taking me into your families for just a while.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday May 21, 2016 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Harper Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to be made to American Heart Association.

Pallbearers will be; Jared Horton, James Wells, Stanley Whitlock, Michael Whitlock, Dustin Horton, and Walter Egge.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Robert Horton, Terry Harper and Tim Harper.

Services under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Judith Beaty

Funeral services for Judith Morrison Beaty are scheduled for 1:00 P.M., Saturday, May 14, 2016, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 2500 John Street, Seminole Oklahoma. Bishop Jim Choate will officiate. A family visitation will take place on Friday, May 13, 2016 at the Swearingen Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Beaty died on Monday, May 9, 2016, at her home in Moore, Oklahoma, where she lived for 7 years, and previously in Maud for 33 years.

Judith was born on November 20, 1940, in Joseph, Utah to James Mack and Madge Elaine (Allen) Morrison. She married Willis "Gene" Beaty on September 11, 1959, in La Puente, California.

Judith worked at Valley View hospital in Ada and then the Medical Center in Shawnee for a total of 15 years. She also worked in the garden center at Wal-Mart in Shawnee.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She was preceded in death by her husband Willis Beaty, her parents Mack and Elaine Morrison and one sibling, Madge Elaine.

She is survived by her five children, Ralph Eugene Beaty of Manassas Virginia, Debbie June Watson of Moore Oklahoma, Teresa Elaine Carroll of Omaha Nebraska, Lisa Marie Holley of Dallas Texas, and Julie Ann Gonzales of Moore Oklahoma and her four siblings, Alan Morrison of Los Angeles, California, Robert Morrison of St. George Utah, Lorraine Henderson of Kingman Arizona, and Linda Van Hook of Las Vegas Nevada, and her sixteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Tommy Barton

Tommy Allen Barton, 68 year old longtime Seminole resident and current Tecumseh resident, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born April 24, 1947 in Arkansas to parents Robert "Bob" Barton and Mildred Louise (Cassell) Barton.

Tommy attended school in Seminole County, Oklahoma. Following his graduation Tommy served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He earned the Rifle Marksman Badge and the National Service Medal.

Following his service to our Country, Tommy worked for the Tulsa postal service, the Seminole Fire Department, Shawnee Medical Center and then delivering papers for the Seminole Producer and the Shawnee News-Star.

Tommy was associated with the Harrah Free Will Baptist Church, the Shawnee V.F.W. and the Tecumseh American Legion. He also love watching John Wayne movies, fishing, and most of all being with his family.

Survivors include his fiancé Donna (Powell) Smith of Newalla, Oklahoma; his mother, Mildred Haggard of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; 2 brothers, James Haggard and his wife Anna of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Larry Haggard of Lexington, Oklahoma; 3 sisters, Bonnie Haggard of Seminole, Oklahoma, Linda Chesser of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Betty Barton of California; 3 grandchildren, Chance Weedn, Emma Weedn and Spencer Weedn all of McLoud, Oklahoma; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Tommy is preceded in death by his biological father, Robert "Bob" Barton; by his father who raised him Wallie Haggard who died in 2010; and by one sister, Deloris Barton who died in 2009.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 7, 2016 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Military Honors. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery. Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate the services.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Kenneth Bailey

Kenneth Eugene Bailey, 70 year old Eufaula, Oklahoma resident passed from this life on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at St. Frances Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born January 19, 1946 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to parents Robert Grey Bailey and Opal Bernice (Patton) Bailey.

Kenneth served our Country in the United States Army where he was a rifle marksman.

Kenneth was a heavy equipment mechanic for many years. He was a member of the "Pokie Okie, " Motor-Trike Club, the local chapter of the "Brotherhood of the third wheel, " organization.

Kenneth grew up in the Maud, Oklahoma area and went on to live in California and Utah before retiring in Eufaula, Oklahoma.

Kenneth is survived by his three sons, John Lewis Ziglar of Kingman, Arizona, Abram Michael Bailey of Tooele, Utah, and Kenneth Leon Bailey of Eufaula, Oklahoma; one daughter, Diana Marie Black of Tooele, Utah; 9 grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Grey Bailey and Opal Bernice (Patton) Bailey, he is also preceded in death by one brother, Richard Earl Bailey.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 25, 2016 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Bobby Cearley and Spencer Black will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma with Military Honors.

Casket Bearers will be: Kenneth Leon Bailey, Abram Michael Bailey, John Lewis Ziglar, Spencer Verle Black, D. Bryan Woodall, and Paul D. Bachhofer.

Honorary Bearers will be: John Maclhanon, Mark Duane Sager, David Michael Sager, and Patrick "Pat" Keeffer.

Memorial donations can be made to Swearingen Funeral Home in memory of Kenneth Eugene Bailey.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Calvin Bailes

John Calvin Bailes, 88, of Norman, a former Duncan resident, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 in the Norman Veterans Center.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4th in the Vamoosa Cemetery near Konawa with Pastor Ron Stough officiating.

Services are under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.

Military honors will be conferred by the Stephens County honors Team.

Calvin was born in Maxwell, Ok. on March 28, 1927, the son of Albin and Nellie (Elliott) Bailes.

He graduated from Konawa High School and served in the United States Navy.

He and Billie Jean Thompson were married December 25, 1944 in Holdenville and she preceded him in death on May 7, 2011.

He worked for the Watts Funeral Home in Konawa, Chaney Funeral Home in McAlster, owned and operated Bailes Funeral Home in Drumright and along with his grandson, owned and operated the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home in Duncan.

He was a Past Worshipful Master and Secretary of the Drumright Masonic Lodge, current member of the Duncan Masonic Lodge, member of the York Right and 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason.

One of his greatest joys was the many years spent as Scout Master in Konawa, where in 2011 the Boy Scout Hut, a meeting place built during his time as Scout Master, was renamed and dedicated in his honor.

He was a faithful member of the Eastside Church of Christ until moving to Norman to be near his daughters. He then became a member of the Alameda Church of Christ. He was also preceded in death by his parents, daughter Charolett Ann Watson and granddaughters Christina Ann Polk and Kristal Kathleen Robertson.

He is survived by one sister, Lillian Brooks, of Yukon; three daughters, Nelletta Kay Robertson, of Norman; Willa Jo Moore and her husband Ed, of Norman and Marsha Morgan and her husband Michael of McAlester; grandchildren Ed Moore, Angie Clester, Beau Moore, Ladd Polk, Dee Lyles, Stephanie Heimbuch, Susan Morgan, Jeanie Deal and Elliott Robertson, as well as numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

Billy Adkins

William Dale "Billy" Adkins, 62, lifelong Seminole resident, died Friday, April 29, 2016 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Billy was born on March 4, 1954 in Seminole, Oklahoma to William Clyde "Bill" Adkins and Ida Maud (Bowden) Adkins. Billy grew up in Seminole and attended Seminole Public Schools and graduated from Seminole High School.

Billy joined the United States Army in June of 1975 and was stationed at Ft. Sill Army Base in Lawton, Oklahoma. He served his country as a SP4 and received an honorable discharge.

Billy worked as a grounds maintenance specialist at the Tinker Air Force Base Golf Course for 20 years, before his retirement. Billy enjoyed spending time listening to music with friends, playing golf, cards and watching TV.

Billy and Galle Rae Coker were married on January 21, 2016 in Wewoka, Oklahoma, after 30 years of life together.

Billy is survived by his wife Galle Rae Adkins of Seminole, Oklahoma, three daughters Laura Dolphin of Henderson, Nevada and her husband Albert, Lisa Siu of Las Vegas, Nevada and her husband Henry, Lesli Baker of Henderson, Nevada. his nephews Kevin Brinker and his wife Jade Brinker of Seminole and Jason Brinker and his wife Melissa Brinker of Seminole, great nephews; Nick Brinker, Trevor Brinker and Brian Sims; his brother-in-law’s; Stephen Brinker of Seminole, Oklahoma, Tommy York of Houston, Texas and Byron Tipton of Houston, Texas and his wife Bobbe, grandchildren Unomi, Kailee, Kayla, Tyler, Vivian, Roxie and his grandpup Sammy.

He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Ida Adkins and his sister Edna (Adkins) Brinker, close friends Mickey LeBarre, Larry Manley and Eddie Kuehner.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma, burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery with military honors.

Casket bearers will be Joe Hardin, Tommy Rose, Dennis Wilburn, Jim Moreu, Kent Smith and Wendell Woody. Honorary bearers will be; Randy Dockery, Mike Cone, Byron Tipton, Kevin Brinker, Jason Brinker and Nick Brinker.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Carla Adams

Carla (Lehman) Adams, 54, of Asher, Oklahoma passed away Monday, January 11, 2016 at her home.

She was born July 30, 1961 to B.R. and Wanda (Smith) Lehman in Ada, Oklahoma.

Carla was raised in Konawa, Oklahoma and was a 1980 graduate of Asher High School. She lived most her life in Konawa until moving to Asher 12 years ago where she has resided since.

She married James Lloyd Adams in 1993 in North Rock Creek.

Carla was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She attended Avoca Church of Christ. She enjoyed flower gardening and spending time with her grandchildren; they were the focal point of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Connie.

Carla is survived by her husband, James Adams of the home; 4 daughters and 3 sons-in-law, Lacey and Ed Carey of McLoud, OK, Billi Joa and Dakota Kirk Patrick of Tecumseh, OK, Cheyeann Mareea Adams of Asher, OK and Joeleen and Brian Borcherding of Dale, OK; son, Joshwa James Adams of Shawnee, OK; 8 grandchildren, including, Nevaeh, Essence and Prince; sister, Christy Lehman of Shawnee, OK; and other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow at Wanette Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
