Kenneth William Scholter

Kenneth William Scholter, 91, of Saxonburg, formerly of Butler, died at 7 a.m. Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Aug. 6, 1910, in Duquesne, he was the son of John and Mayme Hartman Scholter.

A pilot, he was a member of the Quiet Birdman, the Aero Club of Pittsburgh and the OX5 Aviation Pioneers 402.

Surviving are his wife, Marion A. Scholter; and two sons, James Richard Scholter of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and John William Scholter of Marietta, Ga.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

SCHOLTER - There will be no visitation for Kenneth William Scholter, who died Friday, May 31, 2002. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Brownsdale Cemetery with the Rev. Paul E. Roberts, pastor of Summit United Presbyterian Church, officiating. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME in Butler handled arrangements.

Velma B. Mink

Velma B. McKinnis Mink, 87, of Chapel Point of Carlisle, formerly of Meridian, died Friday evening at Chapel Point of Carlisle in Carlisle.

Born in Butler on Feb. 19, 1915, she was the daughter of Walter H. and Catherine Elizabeth Datt McKinnis.

She had been a missionary nurse for years, serving the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. She served as a missionary nurse in the Philippines from 1948 to 1963.

She was a graduate of Butler High School, Nyack College in Nyack, N.Y., and Butler Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.

Mrs. Mink was a member of the Community Alliance Church.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Harold R. (Harriet) Caldwell of Aliquippa; a brother, William Charles McKinnis of Butler; an aunt, Harriet Datt McKinnis; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Her husband, the Rev. Edward Mink, whom she married after ending her missionary service, died March 6, 1981.

Two brothers and a sister also preceded her in death.

MINK - Friends of Velma B. McKinnis Mink, who died Friday, May 31, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday with William Kissel, a retired missionary, officiating. Interment will follow at Butler Memorial Park.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to Chapel Point of Carlisle, 770 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA, 17003.

Robert L. Deal Sr.

Robert L. Deal Sr., 70, of 218 Geibel Road died Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 10, 1931, in Butler, he was the son of George S. and Violet Thompson Deal.

He had attended Butler High School, where he was a member of the football team.

Mr. Deal had worked as a crane operator for Marmon Keystone in East Butler for years, retiring in 1982.

He had served with the Coast Guard and was a member of St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Carbon Center.

Mr. Deal was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a life member of the East Butler Volunteer Fireman’s Club. He was a former coach for the East Butler baseball and football leagues and enjoyed mall walking.

He is survived by four sons, Robert L. Deal Jr. of Butler, Ronald E. “Gus” Deal of East Butler and Henry T. and William C. Deal, both of Butler; and five daughters, Luann Crawford, Mrs. Raymond (Barbara) Houston, Mrs. Philip (Caroline) Nordquist, Valerie Deal and Mrs. Robert (Ruthi) Orloski, all of Butler.

Also surviving are three brothers, George and Jerry Deal, both of Butler, and Richard Deal of Warren, Ohio; four sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Betty) Campbell of Karns City, Peggy Reed and Mrs. Albert (Shirley) Shook, both of Butler, and Mrs. John (Patty) Hoover of West Sunbury; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

His wife, Margaret J. Williams Deal, whom he married Aug. 23, 1952, died Nov. 7, 1998.

A son, a grandson and two brothers also preceded him in death.

DEAL - Friends of Robert L. Deal Sr., who died Friday, May 31, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Carbon Center with the Rev. Michael Maranowski, church pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the church Cemetery .

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 10 Duff Road, Suite 304, Pittsburgh, PA, 15235.

Ruth Christie Emminger

Ruth Christie Emminger, 76, formerly of East Penn Street, died at 12:50 p.m. Thursday at Sunnyview Nursing Home.

Born in Butler, Aug. 22, 1925, she was the daughter of Floyd E. and Romayne L. Hutchison Christie.

She was a graduate of Butler High School and had been an aide at the Pine Haven Home, Fenelton.

Mrs. Emminger was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.

She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews,

Her husband, George T. Emminger, died Oct. 22, 1968. A brother and three sisters also preceded her in death.

EMMINGER- Friends of Ruth , who died Thursday, May 23, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery .

The Women’s Guild will recite the rosary at 9:35 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Agnes M. Burns

Agnes M. Burns, 85, formerly of Wallula Avenue, died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. John Specialty Care Center, Mars.

Born in Butler, July 14, 1916, she was the daughter of Herman and Theresa Kaib Hahn.

Mrs. Burns was a homemaker and had been a teacher’s aide at Butler Catholic School from 1965 to 1976.

She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, the St. Paul Guild and Christian Mothers and a longtime member of the Butler County Extension Club.

Surviving are two sons, W. Patrick Burns of Evans City and Michael O Burns of Washington, Pa.; a daughter, Mrs. William H. (Margaret) Bridenbaugh II of Austin, Texas; a brother, Herman L. Hahn of Cabot; a sister, Alice Schwarz of Cabot; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Her husband, William F. Burns Jr., whom she married Nov. 14, 1936, died Feb. 20, 1996. Two brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death.

BURNS - Friends of Agnes M. Burns, who died Wednesday, May 23, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery .

The St. Paul Guild and Christian Mothers will recite the rosary at 9:40 a.m. Monday at the church.

Marion Miller

Marion Miller, 92, of Valencia died Friday in Fosnight of Valencia Nursing Center following an illness.

Born Sept. 26, 1909, in Lynn, Mass., she was the daughter of William G. and Cora Holden Hayward.

She was a member of the Valencia United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. William (Doris) Geyer and Edna Elizabeth Miller, both of Valencia; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Edward Miller, died March 18, 1979. Two sisters and two brothers also preceded her in death.

MILLER - Friends of Marion Miller, who died Friday, May 24, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. Services will be at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Nancy Zahn, pastor of Valencia United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Adams Township.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Valencia United Methodist Church Building Fund, 66 Almira St., Valencia, PA, 16059.

Margaret Dubbs

Margaret Dubbs, 78, of Bethel Park, formerly of North Pine Circle, Gibsonia, died Friday at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, following an illness.

Born Jan. 11, 1924, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of John and Johanna Stanton Ryan.

She was a retired nurse’s aide at Lutheran Affiliated Services St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars.

Mrs. Dubbs was a member of St. Richard’s Roman Catholic Church in Richland Township.

Surviving are her husband, Edward Dubbs; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Patricia) Deschamps of Gibsonia; two sons, Edward A. Dubbs of Bethel Park and Kenneth Dubbs of Gibsonia; a sister, Elizabeth Dubbs of Bon Aire; a brother, John Ryan of Wilkinsburg; and eight grandchildren.

A son preceded her in death.

DUBBS - Friends of Margaret Dubbs, who died Friday, May 24, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Richard’s Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Savior Cemetery in Richland Township.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society.

Homer ‘Bill’ Craig

Homer “Bill” William Craig, 83, of Bonita Springs, Fla., formerly of Butler, died May 18 in Bonita Springs, following a brief illness.

Born Sept. 1, 1918, in Hawkville, Pa., he was the son of Charles Curtis and May Olive Hawk Craig.

He was a retired soils engineer for the state of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Craig was a member of the Petrolia Presbyterian Church and the International Order of Odd Fellows.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Margaret Schreckengost Craig of Bonita Springs; three daughters, Arvilla Craig Turner of Auburn, N.Y., Marjorie Craig Sychak of East Berlin, Pa., and Brenda Craig Jackson of Greenville, S.C.; a son, H. Curtis Craig of Butler; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

CRAIG - The family of Homer William Craig, who died Saturday, May 18, 2002, is planning a private memorial service.

Mary Amann

Mary Amann, 100, of Conneautville died Thursday at Rolling Fields Nursing Home in Conneautville.

Born July 2, 1901, in Kubachy, Czechoslovakia, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Bendik Bukovinsky.

She was one of the original members, as well as the oldest member, of St. Ferdinand Roman Catholic Church in Cranberry Township.

Mrs. Amann was a member of the Western Pennsylvania Dachshund Club, the Western Pennsylvania Miniature Schnauzer Club and the Royal Court.

Surviving are two daughters, Mildred Eremic of Bainbridge Island, Wash., and Marilyn Dressel of Linesville; a sister, Theresa Jurcova of Slovakia; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Her husband, John Amann, died in 1973.

AMANN - Friends of Mary Amann, who died Thursday, May 23, 2002, will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ferdinand Roman Catholic Church in Cranberry Township, with the Rev. Joseph Newell officiating. Entombment will be at Allegheny Cemetery Mausoleum in Pittsburgh.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Ferdinand Roman Catholic Church, 2535 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township, PA, 16066.

Rose Ann Bell Mitchell

Rose Ann Bell Mitchell, 59, of Annapolis, Md., and formerly of Fenelton, died Saturday at her home from cancer.

She was born Nov. 9, 1942, in Fenelton, and graduated in 1960 from Butler High School.

She worked at Chick-Fil-A for 10 years in the Annapolis Mall, where she was top sales person and employee of the month for the Annapolis Mall.

She also was secretary for the Family Camping and Hiking Association of Maryland.

She enjoyed camping, reading and traveling.

She belonged to the Family Camping and Hiking Association and the Beta Sigma Phi sorority.

She is survived by her husband, George Mitchell of Annapolis; two sons, Matthew Mitchell of Chester, Md., and Michael Mitchell of Annapolis; two brothers, Jim and Larry Bell, both of Butler; and a grandson.

She was preceded in death by a daughter and two brothers.

MITCHELL - Friends of Rose Ann Bell Mitchell, who died Saturday, May 25, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the BARRANCO AND SONS P.A. SEVERNA PARK FUNERAL HOME, Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, Maryland. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery , Annapolis.
