Ralph Ferraro

Ralph Ferraro, 82, of Summerville, Jefferson County, died at 8 a.m. Sunday at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center following an illness.

Born Aug. 26, 1919, in Summerville, he was a son of Dominic and Philimina Lemon Ferraro.

He worked at the Hanley Brick Yard in Summerville for years. He then worked for the Pennsylvania Highway Department for five years until his retirement.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II from May 16, 1941, until June 25, 1945. He was a technician fifth grade serving with the 37th ORD Maintenance Company.

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Brookville.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Terwilliger of Chicora; and two nieces and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

FERRARO - A Mass of Christian burial for Ralph Ferraro, who died Sunday, May 26, 2002, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church, 409 N. Main St., Chicora. The Rev. David DeWitt, church pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the West View Cemetery , Summerville.

Arrangements are being made by STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora.

Julia Drury Stitt Honse

Julia Drury Stitt Honse, 89, a Butler resident for years, died Monday at Rochester Manor, Rochester, after a long illness.

Born in Ford City, she was the daughter of the Rev. O.H. and Sarah Drury Stitt.

She was a graduate of Indiana (Pa.) University; and for years, she was actively associated with The House Furniture Co.

Mrs. Honse was a former member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are a son, Joel A. Honse of Wooline, Va.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She also is survived by three brothers, Paul H. Stitt of Pompano Beach, Fla., Harry S. Stitt of Grove City and John Wesley Stitt of Beaver Falls; six nieces; and a nephew.

Her husband, John H. Honse; two sons; a sister; a great-grandson; a niece; and a nephew preceded her in death.

HONSE - There will be no public visitation. A memorial service for Julia Drury Stitt Honse, who died Monday, May 27, 2002, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at A.D. CAMPBELL FUNERAL HOME, 14th Street and Eighth Avenue, Beaver Falls. The Rev. Dr. Franklin Hallman will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.

Stanley R. Dehart

Stanley R. Dehart, 79, of Mars died Tuesday morning at UPMC Passavant Hospital, McCandless.

Born in Shelby, Ohio, July 13, 1922, he was the son of Clarence and Minnie Bicehouse Dehart.

He retired as a truck driver for Atlas Concrete on the North Side of Pittsburgh.

Mr. Dehart was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Mars VFW Post 7505.

He was an avid camper and coin hunter.

Surviving are his wife, Marion Fester Dehart, whom he married Aug. 31, 1942; two sons, Stanley Dehart Jr. of Pittsburgh and Mark E. Dehart of Zelienople; four daughters, Mrs. Tim (Shirley) Nolan of Mars, Mrs. Paul (Joyce) Merten of Saxonburg, Mrs. Jim (Diane) Feil of Deer Lakes and Mrs. David (Mary Belle “Becky”) Gall of Harmony; a brother, Clarence B. Dehart Jr. of Pymatuning; and a sister, Jean Grannon of Callery. He also is survived by 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

DEHART - Friends of Stanley R. Dehart, who died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at McDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Wayne Gillespie officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Mars Cemetery , Adams Township.

Members of Mars VFW Post 7505 will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Matthew ‘Matt’ Kellerman

Matthew J. “Matt” Kellerman, 23, of 111 McConnell Drive, Franklin Township, died at 12:20 p.m. Sunday at his home.

Born in Butler, March 2, 1979, he was the son of Carl H. Jr. and Patricia D. McCelland Kellerman.

A 1997 graduate of Slippery Rock High School, he was a paint operator at Veka Inc. in Fombell.

Mr. Kellerman was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church and the Sons of American Legion Post 117.

He was active in sports.

Surviving are his parents, with whom he made his home; two sisters, Mrs. Marc (Laurie) Barto of Butler and Michele Kellerman at home; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy McCelland of Arizona. A niece and aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

KELLERMAN - Friends of Matthew J. “Matt” Kellerman, who died Sunday, May 19, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St. Burial will be at Gruenwald Cemetery , Summit Township.

Memorial donations may be made to the Gaiser Addiction Center, 165 Old Plank Road, Butler, PA 16001.

Dorothy I. Jacox

Dorothy I. Jacox, 82, formerly of Staley Avenue, died at 7:35 a.m. Saturday at Saxony Health Center, Saxonburg.

Born in Blairsville, Feb. 3, 1920, she was the daughter of Jesse Lowery George Jr. and Mabel Anise Wynkoop George.

She was a homemaker and had managed the cafeteria at Northwest Elementary School.

Mrs. Jacox was a charter member and former deacon of the Trinity Presbyterian Church. She also belonged to the Butler Chapter 45 of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by a son, David W. Jacox of Butler; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. Helen Gregg of Unionville and Mrs. Shirley Walker of Butler, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceding her in death were her husband, William Eaton Jacox Jr., who died Dec. 16, 1982; a sister; and a brother.

JACOX - Friends of Dorothy I. Jacox, who died Saturday, May 18, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dennis Molnar, her church pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Butler County Memorial Park, Butler Township.

Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave., Butler, PA 16001.

M. Irene Degenkolb

M. Irene Wiser Degenkolb, 88, formerly of Munhall, died Sunday at LAS/Passavant Retirement & Health Center in Zelienople.

Born Sept. 20, 1913, in Westville, Jefferson County, she was the daughter of J. Edward and Ruth Calhoun Wiser.

Mrs. Degenkolb had been a registered nurse at Maple Avenue Hospital in DuBois and West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh.

She was a member of St. John Mark Lutheran Church, Homestead.

She lived in Munhall for 59 years before moving to Zelienople in 1997.

Surviving are a daughter, Ruth Irene Degenkolb Dobson of Seven Fields; and a sister, Marie Berty of DuBois.

Her husband, George R. Degenkolb; a sister; and three brothers preceded her in death.

DEGENKOLB - Friends of M. Irene Wiser Degenkolb, who died Sunday, May 19, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at GEORGE IRVIN GREEN FUNERAL HOME, 3511 Main St., Munhall. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Mark Lutheran Church, Homestead, with the Rev. Robert Gago officiating. Burial will be at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery .

Paul Raymond Paulick

Paul Raymond “Ray” Paulick, 74, of Sawmill Run Road died early Tuesday at his home after an illness.

Born Oct. 3, 1927, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of Paul R. and Frances Dinnin Paulick.

He had been a draftsman in the engineering department at Armco-Butler Works and retired in 1990 after 24 years.

Mr. Paulick was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian, where he was active in the church choir and belonged to the Men’s Club. He also was a former Eucharistic minister at St. Fidelis Parish.

He was a former member of the Blazing Star Choral, the Meridian Community Choir and Sing Hosanna.

He was a member of the Meridian Volunteer Fire Department and enjoyed winemaking and gardening.

He was a World War II veteran of the Army-Air Corps, served in the Army during the Korean War and later served in the Navy.

Surviving are his wife, Beverly A. Kerry Paulick, whom he married Oct. 6, 1956; two sons, Mark A. and Kerry P. Paulick, both of Butler; two daughters, Mrs. Jackie (Beth) Hodapp of Butler and Lauren Gilley of Cabot; and a brother, Donald R. Paulick of Sebastapol, Calif. Also surviving are four granddaughters, a step-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

PAULICK - Friends of Paul Raymond “Ray” Paulick, who died Tuesday, May 21, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, Meridian. Burial will be at Butler County Memorial Park, Butler Township.

Members of St. Fidelis Parish will hold a prayer service at 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Donald L. Fleming

Donald L. Fleming, 25, of Butler died Monday.

Born Aug. 1, 1976, in Butler, he was a son of George Fleming and Desiree Obringer Fleming Kelley.

He was a landscaper for Lavrich Land Design.

Mr. Fleming was a member of the North Main Street Church of God.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery hunting and belonged to the Summit Township Sportsman Club.

Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Melvin Kelley of Butler; his father; a son, Tyler L. Fleming of Butler; a daughter, Rhonda N. Fleming of Butler; a stepson, Carlos DeValle of Butler; three brothers, Thomas J. and Anthony W. Fleming, both of Butler, and Ronald F. Fleming of Oil City; and two sisters, Marsha D. and Kathleen M. Fleming, both of Butler.

Also surviving are his step-grandparents and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

FLEMING - Friends of Donald L. Fleming, who died Monday, May 20, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. David Brown will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Freeport.

Memorial donations will be accepted by the family at the funeral home.

Edward L. Sterling

Edward L. Sterling, 81, of Butler, died Dec. 10, 2001, at his winter home in Florida.

Born Nov. 26, 1920, in Glen Campbell, Clearfield County, he was the son of Benjamin Franklin Sterling and Leam Stewart Sterling.

He retired as a sales representative for the Pennsylvania Department of General Services.

He was a World War II Navy veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Kaltenbach Markle Sterling, whom he married Aug. 13, 1983; a daughter, Mrs. Chester (Wanda) Kuczykowski of Clarksville, Mercer County; a son, Kenneth W. Sterling of Brownsville; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Brian (Janna) Lewis of Cranberry Township and Mrs. Randall (Miranda) Hughes, Barbara Johnson and Rhonda Trufley, all of Butler; four stepsons, Ronald L. Markle of Renfrew, Walter D. Markle of West Sunbury, Daniel H. Markle of Cabot and Stephen Trufley of Butler; and a brother, Harold Sterling of West Long Branch, N.J.

Eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild also survive.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Devona Engle Sterling; his second wife, Joan C. Hockenberry Trufley Sterling, who died Sept 22, 1982; a son; and a sister.

STERLING - A memorial service for Edward L. Sterling, who died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at WILLIAM F. YOUNG, JR. FUNERAL HOME, with retired minister, the Rev. Cloyd Osborne, officiating.

Dorothy E. Stenzel

Dorothy E. Stenzel, 80, of Greer, S.C., formerly of Zelienople, died Tuesday in Greer.

Born Sept. 16, 1921, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Frank and Esther Smith Skrak.

Mrs. Stenzel graduated from Perry High School and Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh.

She enjoyed the Steelers and gardening.

She was member of the English Lutheran Church of Zelienople.

Surviving are a son, Robert W. Stenzel of Greenville, S.C.; four daughters, Suzy Stenzel of Zelienople, Patricia Frederick of Greer, Ellen Rawson of Norfolk, Va., and Barbara Dolhi of Blawnox. She also is survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Stenzel, who died in July 1969; and a brother.

STENZEL - Friends of Dorothy E. Stenzel, who died Tuesday, May 21, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME, 219 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Keplinger, her church pastor, officiating. Burial will be at the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.

Memorial donations may be made to English Lutheran Church, 200 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, PA 16063.
