Ruth Eleanor Lehr, 78, of Philadelphia, died Monday, July 14, 1997 in the Immaculate Mary Home, Philadelphia.
Mrs. Lehr was the widow of Christian Lehr Sr.
She was the admissions supervisor at Frankford Hospital, Frankford Campus, Philadelphia for 25 years.
Her hobbies included reading, viewing television and doing crossword puzzles.
Surviving are three daughters, Judy Oczkowski of Philadelphia, Barbara Fletcher of Sinking Springs and Deborah Lehr of Philadelphia; and three sons, Christian Jr. of Carlisle, Thomas and Robert of Philadelphia.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in David G. Richardson Funeral Home, 7450 Oxford Ave., Philadelphia. Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery, 15th and Haines streets, Philadelphia.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. James Lutheran Church, 5185 Castor Ave., Philadelphia 19124.

Services for Richard E. "Bud" Miller, 71, of 970 Green Spring Road, Newville, will be held at noon Thursday in Egger Funeral Home, 15 Big Spring Ave., Newville.
He died Sunday, July 13, 1997 at home.
Born June 1, 1926 in Hershey, he was a son of the late Elmer and Emma Reed Miller.
Mr. Miller, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, retired in 1989 from PennDOT, where he was employed as a truck driver.
He was a member of Green Spring First Church of God, the Newville American Legion and VFW posts, and Big Spring Fish and Game.
Surviving are his wife, Charlotte M. Gutshall Miller; a son, Charles L. Gutshall of Carlisle; a daughter, Virginia E. Wert of Newville; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Nathan Walker will officiate at Thursday's service. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.

Private services for George E. Snyder, 79, of North Fort Myers, Fla., will be held at the convenience of the family.
He died Saturday, July 12, 1997 in Forest Park Health Center, Carlisle.
Born Sept. 25, 1917 in Lees Crossroads, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Samuel D. and Minnie Goodhart Snyder.
Mr. Snyder was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was retired from York International Corp.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth J. Cookson Snyder; two daughters, Sandra S. Gobrecht of Carlisle and Edwina B. Walsh of The Woodlands, Texas; three brothers, Charles A. and Samuel D. Jr., both of Littlestown, and K. Robert of Cape Coral, Fla.; five sisters, Mae Jacob of Carlisle, Gladys Spangler of Spring Grove, Martha Renner of Fairfield, Ann Crook and Dorothy Corcoran, both of Hanover.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Unit of Forest Park Health Center, 700 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle 17013.

Services for retired Col. Robert F. Strayer Sr., 77, of 28 Circle Drive, Carlisle, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle.
He died Sunday, July 13, 1997 in Sarah Todd Memorial Home, 1000 W. South St., Carlisle.
Born Nov. 11, 1919 in Carlisle, he was a son of the late Charles B. and Elsie Fulton Strayer.
Mr. Strayer was a 1937 graduate of Carlisle High School and LaFayette College, Easton. He was employed in air traffic control at LaGuardia Airport.
During World War II, he instructed fighter pilots and served in Europe with the U.S. Army Air Corps. Following the war, he was in the Air Force Reserve and the Pennsylvania Air National Guard as a fighter pilot and commander pilot at Middletown.
He was recalled to active duty during the Vietnam War to train EC121 aircraft pilots. He retired from the Pennsylvania Air National Guard in 1971.
He was an executive of and test pilot for H.R.B. Singer of State College and was pilot to the governor of Pennsylvania in the 1950s. He was a former flight instructor at Carlisle Airport.
A former general manager of the Troy Laundry and Dry Cleaning Co. in Carlisle, he was a member of VFW Post No. 477 in Carlisle.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Daisy Wilson Strayer; three sons, Robert F. Jr. of Boiling Springs, Richard W. and Charles B. II, both of Carlisle; two sisters, Elizabeth Masland of Carlisle and Dorothy Thompson of Charlottesville, Va.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzanne Hardy, who died in 1994.
The Rev. Barton B. Leach will officiate at Thursday's service. Burial will be in Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery, Mt. Holly Springs.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Services for John W. Day, 92, formerly of Lincoln Street, Carlisle, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle.
He died Sunday, July 13, 1997 in the Todd Nursing Home, Carlisle.
Born Dec. 12, 1904 in Carlisle, he was the son of the late George and Anna Day.
Mr. Day was retired from Carlisle Tire and Rubber Co., Carlisle.
Surviving are two nephews, the Rev. Glenroy E. Day Sr. of Temple Hills, Md. and Paul C. Day Jr. of Harrisburg; three nieces, Merina Day of Upper Marlboro, Md., Mary Campbell of Carlisle and Marilyn Robertson of Philadelphia; and several great nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Glenroy E. Day Sr., his nephew, will officiate at Thursday's service. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, West Pennsboro Township.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Services for Constance "Connie" M. Ewing, 53, of 65 Barren's Church Road, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 130 Nittany Drive, Mechanicsburg.
She died Monday, July 14, 1997 at her home.
Born June 13, 1944 in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of Lucy Notaeri Migilore of Carlisle and the late Joseph Migliore.
Mrs. Ewing was a clerk for the registrar's office at Messiah College.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and the Pennsylvania Society of Farm Women, York Group No. 17.
Surviving, besides her mother, are her husband, Neil W. Ewing; a son, John of Dillsburg; a daughter, Kathy Zagoric of Dillsburg; and three grandchildren.
The Rev. Paul Jones will officiate at Saturday's services. Burial will be in St. Peter's Memorial Garden.
There will be no viewing or visitation.

Hayes B. Johnson, 62, of 422 Fairground Ave., Carlisle, died Tuesday, July 15, 1997 in his home.
Born April 11, 1935 in Newville, he was the son of the late William and Florence Helman Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was a retired forklift operator for Masland Industries with 30 years of service.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1299 and American Legion Post 101, both of Carlisle.
Surviving are his wife, Beverly Robson Johnson; two sons, Maynard Robson of Harrisburg and Kevin Robson of Carlisle; three sisters, Alice Weigle, Nancy Powell and Betty Garman, all of Carlisle; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, West Pennsboro Township.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Frances E. Leppard, 72, of 1113 Trindle Road, Carlisle, died Tuesday, July 15, 1997 in Carlisle Hospital.
Born April 9, 1925 in Hillside, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Anna Lordi Mazillo and the widow of Edward S. Leppard, who died in 1979.
Mrs. Leppard was formerly employed by the U.S. Government. She was a high school graduate in New Jersey and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Carlisle.
Surviving are a son, Dale J.J. Leppard of Mechanicsburg, a godson, and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Marsh Drive, Carlisle with the Rev. Leo Goodman III officiating. Burial will be in Longsdorf Cemetery, Silver Spring Township.
Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Robert G. Nickel, 55, of 46 E. Penn St., Carlisle, died Tuesday, July 15, 1997 in the Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, will announce arrangements when complete.
