Andrew R. Washington, 81, formerly of 415 Main St., York Springs, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 1997 in Cumberland Crossings, South Middleton Township.
Born Aug. 30, 1915 in Wilkes Barre, he was a son of the late John and Anna Michelow Washington.
Mr. Washington retired in 1985 after many years of service from AMP Inc., Carlisle.
A member of York Springs VFW, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Hazel M. Potts Washington; a daughter, Dawn E. Kimmel of Mt. Holly Springs; three sons, Douglas A. of Dillsburg, Dan D. of Caribou, Maine, and David D. of York Springs; two brothers, George of Wilkes Barre and Joe of Illinois; and two sisters, Helen Grula of Wilkes-Barre and Peggy McArdell of Nebraska.
Services will be private. Monahan Funeral Home, York Springs, is handling arrangements.

Services for Edward William Ream, 48, of 252 Moretti Lane, Malpitas, Calif. will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Myers Funeral Home, 37 E. Main St., Mechanicsburg.
He died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1997 in his home.
Born Oct. 18, 1948 in Harrisburg he was a son of Edward V. and Kathryn Ream of Mechanicsburg.
A graduate of East Pennsboro High School and Penn State University, Mr. Ream was employed by Rolm Siemans of California and was a self-employed photojournalist.
He was a former member of Middletown Church of God and was an Eagle Scout.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Stephen of Brookhaven, and a sister, Toni Kay Thumma of Carlisle.
The Rev. Robert A. Malick Jr. will officiate Tuesday's services. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Haven Memorial Gardens, Lower Paxton Township.
Friends may call from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to The First Church of God, 28 E. Main St., Mechanicsburg 17055.

Martha M. Thrush, 85, of Newburg, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 1997 in Chambersburg Hospital.
Born May 28, 1912 in Cumberland County, she a daughter of Frank H. and Clara Peck Mellott. She was the widow of Wayne Preston Thrush, who died in 1960.
A retired nurses' aide, Mrs. Thrush attended Newburg First Church of God.
Surviving are four daughters, Martha Finkey of Shiremanstown, Patricia Kahley of Carlisle, Jane Bower of Mechanicsburg and Catherine Worthington of Plainfield; six sons, John P. of Newburg, Harold R. of Orrstown, William D. of Newville, Edward D. of Oakville, Robert B. of Abbyville, S.C. and Joseph L. of Shippensburg; four sisters, Mildred Fiet of Las Vegas, Nev., Louise Myers of Tampa, Fla., Margaret Reiley of Kerrville, Texas and Susan Wagner of Mechanicsburg; 28 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Newburg First Church of God, 260 Newburg Road, Newburg, with the Rev. Michael Smith officiating. Burial will be in Newville Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in the church. Egger Funeral Home, Newville, is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church.

Ethel M. Singer, 91, of Swaim Health Center, Newville, formerly of 1144 Greenspring Road, Newville, died Friday, Aug. 8, 1997 at the center.
Born April 16, 1906 in Pleasant Ridge, Fulton County, she was a daughter of the late George C. and Rose E. Skiles Deshong. She was the widow of Raymond M. Singer, who died July 12, 1967.
Mrs. Singer was a member of Greenspring First Church of God, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and a member of the women's ministries and Good Samaritan Sunday School Class.
Surviving are one son, Lloyd G. of Newville; one daughter, Anna R. Tanner of Newville; one sister, Mabel Graham of Newville; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Mabel Besore and Estalene Weaver.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, 112 W. King St., Shippensburg with the Revs. Robert S. Frye and K. Hull Byers officiating.
Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, West Pennsboro Township.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Greenspring First Church of God, 1140 Greenspring Road, Newville, Pa. 17241.

Services for James W. Kearns, 95, of Manor Care Health Services, Carlisle, formerly of Dillsburg, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in South Mountain United Brethren in Christ Church, 1048 South Mountain Road, Dillsburg.
He died Thursday, Aug. 7, 1997 in the home.
Born March 20, 1902 in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Edward and Mary Carpenter Kearns. He was the widower of Ida E. Smith Kearns.
Mr. Kearns was a retired farmer and retired from Agway in 1963.
He was a member of South Mountain United Brethren in Christ Church and Dillsburg Senior Citizens Center.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald S. of Chambersburg and Charles L. of New Bloomfield; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Gregory A. Helman will officiate at Monday's service.
Burial will be in Adamsburg Cemetery, Beaver Springs.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday in the church. Cocklin Funeral Home, Dillsburg, is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to his church or Alzheimer's Association of South Central Pennsylvania, 600 N. 12th St., Lemoyne, Pa. 17043.

Paul F. Hartman, 72, formerly of 2 West Penn St., Carlisle, died Friday, Aug. 8, 1997 in Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Cumberland County, Middlesex Township.
Born Sept. 26, 1924 in Middlesex Township, he was a son of the late Clarence and Pearl Mountz Hartman.
Mr. Hartman was a former employee of Williams Grove Park and Howard Johnson's Turnpike Restaurant at Plainfield.
Surviving are three brothers, Samuel I. and John D., both of Carlisle, and Clarence J. of Shippensburg; and one sister, Ethel Crozier of Loysville.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Wayne R. Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, North Middleton Township.
Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

A memorial Mass for Kathleen A. Dete, 84, of 215 Todd Circle, Carlisle, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Patrick's Church, Marsh Drive, Carlisle.
She died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1997 at home.
A daughter of the late John S. and Gertrude McGonagle, she was the widow of Leo J. Dete Jr.
Mrs. Dete was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Carlisle Civic Club, Allenberry Club, Carlisle Hospital Auxiliary, Claremont Auxiliary, YWCA, Todd Home Auxiliary, the Historical Society and Shamrock Club. She was a former member of Beta Signa Phi.
Surviving are two sons, Leo of Atlanta, Ga., and George of Carlisle; five daughters, Anne Kostro of Odenton, Md., Mary Werner of Drexel Hill, Ellen Shank of Carlisle, Rita Widmann of Littleton, Colo., and Kathryn Nook of Parker, Colo.; two brothers, George and James McGonagle of Fairfield Glade, Tenn.; and nine grandchildren.
Friends may call from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Knights of Columbus, 1090 Franklin St., Carlisle. Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carlisle Hospital Medical Care Foundation Capital Campaign for the Cancer Treatment Center, 246 Parker St., P.O. Box 310, Carlisle, Pa. 17013; Samaritan Fellowship, care of Allison Methodist Church, 99 Mooreland Ave., Carlisle; or St. Patrick's Church, 140 E. Pomfret St., Carlisle.

Nathaniel Ash, 73, died July 12, 1997 in Baltimore, Md.
Born June 20, 1924, Mr. Ash received an honorable discharge from the Army on May 8, 1946. He moved to Baltimore after retiring from Sharon Steel Corp. in 1985.
He was the uncle of Arziner Hillian of Cheraw, S.C.
William C. Brown Community Funeral Home, Baltimore, Md., was in charge of arrangements.
