Rachel C. Snyder, 63, of 26 Rolling Drive, Carlisle, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 1997, in her home.
Born Oct. 14, 1933, in Carlisle, she was a daughter of the late John and Clara Olsen Carothers.
Mrs. Snyder, a 1951 graduate of Carlisle High School, was a former employee of United Telephone Company and the former Food Fair Grocery Store.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Carlisle and was active with the Carlisle Swim Club's Swim Team Parents Association.
Surviving are her husband of 34 years, Robert W. Snyder; four daughters, Cynthia Mauk of Greenville, S.C., Melinda Wilson of Strausburg, Va., Andrea Snyder of Carlisle and Laurel Biata of Auburn, N.Y.; a son, Baird S. Brehm of Selinsgrove; five sisters, Dorothy Jones of North Miami Beach, Fla., Virginia McBride of Tequesta, Fla., Mildred Erwin and Doris Madison of Grand Junction, Colo., and Elsie Kilgore of Wazham, N.C.; three brothers, John Sheldon Carothers of Tequesta, Fla., and Carl and Lowell Carothers, both of Reno, Nev.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Claire Messex and Julia Weltmer.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Grace United Methodist Church, 45 S. West St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Dr. Marlin L. Snider officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Visitation will follow the service Wednesday at the church.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, Carlisle, is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Dogwood Hospice of Carlisle, 1200 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle 17013.

Services for Miles R. Stahl, 76 of 167 Oak Flat Road, Newville, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church. He died Saturday, Aug. 9, 1997, at home.
Born May 8, 1921, in Blain, he was a son of the late Clarence and Mary C. Gutshall Stahl.
Mr. Stahl was retired from the former Reisinger Brothers Construction Company and was active in flea marketing.
He was a member of the Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church, the Twin Mountains CB Radio Club and VFW Post No. 7343. He was an Army Veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Minnie Kiner Stahl; three sons, William Sr. and Donald of Newville, and Fred of Mt. Holly Springs; three daughters, Janice Smith of Dry Ridge, Ky., Barbara Sampson and Catherine Stahl of Mt. Holly Springs; three brothers, Paul of Newport, Glen of Duncannon and Emory of Greencastle; three sisters, Lula Kiner of Blain, Helen Leatherman of Hawley and Doris Maxwell of Newport; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Terry L., who died Dec. 5, 1989, and a brother, Vernon.
The Revs. Bradley Knepp and J. Kenneth Barner will officiate at Thursday's services. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, North Middleton Township.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Gibson-Hollinger Funeral Home, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs.
Memorial Contributions may be made to his church, 202 W. Butler St., Mt. Holly Springs 17065; to the Dogwood Hospice, 1200 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle 17013; or to Newville Ambulance Association, 15 E. Big Spring Ave., Newville 17241.

Services for Grace A. Showaker, 80, formerly of Mt. Holly Springs, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church.
She died Saturday, Aug. 9, 1997, in Forest Park Nursing Home, Carlisle.
Born Dec. 8, 1916, in Boiling Springs she was a daughter of the late Walter and Emma Stumbaugh Jumper and the widow of Herbert A. Showaker.
Mrs. Showaker retired from McCoy Electronics.
She was a member of the Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church.
Surviving are four sons, Lynn E. and Robert H. of Gardners, Richard B. of Biglerville and Donald E. of Newville; two daughters, Evelyn L. Sponseller of Hanover and Mary E. Armolt of Mt. Holly Springs; a brother, George Jumper of Boiling Springs; a sister, Clara Wagner of Carlisle; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Walter A.
The Revs. Bradley Knepp and J. Kenneth Barner will officiate at Wednesday's services. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Monroe Township.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Gibson-Hollinger Funeral home, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Mass of Christian burial for George J. Konecni, 88, of Camp Hill will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge St., New Cumberland.
He died Saturday, Aug. 9, 1997, in Manor Care Health Services' facility in Camp Hill.
Born Jan. 9, 1909, in Bayonne, N.J., he was a son of the late George J. and Mary Dimko Konecni and the widower of Violet Louise Fenton Konecni.
Mr. Konecni served for more than 37 years as plant manager for the former W.J. Bush and Co. of Linden, N.J. He retired as a courier from Union County (N.J.) Regional High School District.
He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland, its Little Flower Club and its Bingo Club.
Surviving are his daughter, Joyce A. Scott of Mechanicsburg; a brother, Paul Matelsko of Bayonne, N.J.; a sister, Frances Trumpore of Bayonne, N.J.; and two grandsons.
The Rev. Msgr. Robert E. Lawrence will officiate at Wednesday's service. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Township.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a scripture service at 7:15 p.m. Friends also may call from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Parthemore Funeral Home, 1303 Bridge St., New Cumberland.
Memorial contributions may be made to his church or to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, P.O. Box 266, Enola 17025-0266.

Private services for Harper L. Frey, 93, a resident of the Shippensburg Health Care Center and formerly of 309 S. Fayette St., Shippensburg, will be at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, 112 W. King St., Shippensburg, at the convenience of the family.
He died Friday, Aug. 8, 1997, in Carlisle Hospital.
Born Dec. 20, 1903, in Southampton Township, Franklin County, he was a son of the late Frank W. and Mary Wengert Frey.
Mr. Frey operated a TV and Radio Repair business in Shippensburg for 45 years.
Surviving are a brother, Frank A. of Chambersburg, a sister, Helen Eyster of Shippensburg, two nephews and a niece.
Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg.

Services for Frank E. Robinson, 90, of 351 B St., Carlisle, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Carlisle.
He died Saturday, Aug. 9, 1997, in Carlisle Hospital.
Born Oct. 28, 1906, in Carlisle, he was a son of the late David E. and Florence Freeze Robinson and the widower of Ella Mae Byers Robinson who died in 1988.
Mr. Robinson retired from PP&L Co., Carlisle, with 50 years of service.
He was a life-long member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Carlisle, were he served as a deacon and trustee for many years.
Surviving are his second wife, Suzanne Coleman Robinson; a son, Maxwell E. of Fayetteville, N.C.; a daughter, Jean L. Jordan of Carlisle; a stepson, Cpl. William C. Coleman of Fort Riley, Kan.; a stepdaughter, Etta M. Coleman of Carlisle; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Hilton and Frank Robinson; a brother, William Robinson, and two sisters, Edna Moore and Mary Grant.
The Rev. Dr. William E. Jones will officiate at Thursday's services. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, West Pennsboro Township.
Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements.

Services for Miles G. "Babe" Briner, 71, of New Kingstown, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Trinity United Methodist Church, Carlisle Pike and Locust Point Road, New Kingstown.
He died Saturday, Aug. 9, 1997, in Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Township.
Born April 30, 1926, in Blain, he was a son of the late Harry J. and Myrtle Hockenberry Briner.
A retired carpenter and a 50-year member of Local 278, Mr. Briner was the owner of the former Briner's Motel, Grocery Store and Service Station in New Kingstown.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of New Kingstown and its Good Shepherd Sunday School Class.
A life member of New Kingstown Fire Company and Disabled American Veterans (DAV), he also was a member of Mechanicsburg American Legion Post 109, VFW Post 6704, Marine Corps Association, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Eureka Lodge No. 302 F&AM, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Harrisburg Forest No. 43, and Samuel C. Perkins R.A. Chapter No. 209.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Marine Corps' Fifth Division on Iwo Jima, where he earned a Purple Heart.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Joyce A. Shunk Briner; three sons, Gifford L. of Mechanicsburg and John M. and Robert D. of Carlisle; two daughters, Jane Price of Carlisle and Marilyn Schreffler of Mechanicsburg; a brother, David R. of New Germantown; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lisa, three sisters, two brothers and a daughter-in-law.
The Rev. Joseph L. Kugle, his pastor, will officiate at Wednesday's service. Burial will be in Blain Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Myers Funeral Home, 37 E. Main St., Mechanicsburg.

Services for Orie Daniel Cline, 74, of Gardners, will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 23 at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, Gabler's Road, Gardners.
He died Sunday, Aug. 10, 1997 in Carlisle Hospital.
Mr. Cline was a paper maker for Kimberly Clark.
He was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, Gardners and a member of Mt. Tabor Cemetery Association.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Betty J. Hackenberg Cline; a son, Gary L. of Carlisle; two daughters, Dixie A. Shambaugh and Wendy LeBlanc both of Carlisle; a brother, Oliver of Gardners; a sister, Veryl Miller of Carlisle; and 10 grandchildren.
Graveside services will follow the service in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Gardners.
The Cremation Society of Harrisburg is handling the arrangements.
